Many have shown disrespect toward Latvia and other nations. Allowing Russia to participate during an active war would send the wrong message. While their players are undeniably skilled and deserve recognition for their abilities, the IIHF is not just about sports-it also holds political significance. If anyone wants Russia back, you really should educate yourself. I agree, politics should not be brought into sports AND sport should not be brought into politics. If anyone thinks that Russia is not using its athletes for political propaganda is just blind. Before you make statements about "geopolitical nonsense", ask some Polish people about Molotov-Ribbentrop pact from 1939 or about Katyn massacre. Or, ask some Finnish people about Winter war. And the list could go on. Or, ask some Ukrainians what do they think. Or, look up why Jaromir Jagr wears number 68.
Anyway, I wish all the best to Canadian team from Czechia. Canada has nothing to be ashamed of, especially if you put up great fight in the QF.

There is no way You think Russia should be participating in tournaments while killing hundreds or thousands innocent people every day. If IIHF accepted Russia back, I am pretty certain that Czechs, Fins, Latvians, Swedes and Germans would refuse to play. As a Canadian, I’m disappointed. Canada management has screwed us 2 years in a row, not picking up the best players. This year our coaches brought majority OHL players. This is a disgrace to all Canadian hockey fans. I get their young and it isn’t their fault, but half of these guys shouldn’t be on this team. Also skipping 4 PRACTICES? What’s that all about. No chem, no scoring chances, and being undisciplined.

You can't even understand how stupid your 'we need Russia back' take sounds to Finnish people, for example. It amazes me how you North Americans don't seem to understand that the war in Ukraine is still ongoing, and Russia continues to carry out sabotage, interference, and cable cutting in Finnish territory on a weekly basis. You were sympathetic and supportive of Ukraine during the first month of the war, but now that the war has been going on for two years, you've grown accustomed to it and forgotten about it entirely. Comments like that make me so angry, but fortunately, Finland and other Nordic countries will not participate in tournaments where Russia is involved, no matter how much you want to bring them back.
