"Jordan Peele actually does go on to say that the bad guy is Society!" Funny, there is actually a very twisted horror movie called "Society" (1989) in which it's revealed that rich people or "Society" are actually a different species that look human but predate humanity and can morph their bodies in grotesque ways and they literally feed on the poor by sucking the nutrients out of their bodies, I highly recommend that film it deserves way more recognition.

funny that Peele-the Director, is married to a white woman and has 2/3 kids with her....?
When you say 'They'? Is it personal or relative? Is it a Power thing?
As a Black African, who is my 'They;? Is it a race thing? Cause The Arabs are the only race that would fit your moniker of 'They'. But they are just straight azz evil and do NOT mix. But then neither do we and they were a tiny fraction in my country.
Our 'They' would be a tribe. And boy oh boooooooy! Now that's when we end up sounding like you guys whining about the more powerful and larger group.

We shouldn't be determining our friends and enemies on the basis of political party choice in a two party system like we have in America. The best we can do is understand the typical tactics and strategies used by these groups to advance objectives. In the end though, it is by their fruits that we shall know whether the tree is good or bad.

I think the message is to watch out for the folks that are always in black business and trying to insert themselves into black spaces. She wasn't standing up for him against the police officer. She was covering her tracks and making sure there was no papertrail in case Chris was reported missing. So, in my opinion, Rose is the recruiter. They will not have anyone with children because they are purposely seeking out people who don't have a close family or community network. Chris was an orphan with no other family and only one friend that we know of.

I definitely think Jeremy (the brother) be bringing home black dudes/chicks just as often as Rose does. A lot of black gay dudes are accustomed to being in relationships with white dudes and are practiced at moving in the spaces of the (sometimes) accepting parents of their partners. His "playfully aggressive" personality is like catnip to some of us black gay dudes who are so used to being othered that Jeremy's behavior seems like affection.

You misunderstood what we were saying. When we mentioned her standing up for him, we were talking about how Chris saw that incident and why it would have given him more trust in her... Adding to why he was less suspicious of her in the end. Of course she wasn't really defending him with the cop and that's obvious once we know her intent was to bodysnatch him. Yes, she wanted to cover her tracks with the cop by not allowing Chris to reveal his identity, but that wasn't what we were talking about here. Hope this clears up the misunderstanding 😊

Hypnotize ME: First, I must say I love the thoroughness of your videos. The addition of the Eddie Murphy clips was a perfect reference.
Here's my comment: I know most black folk like to say “I would have been gone if…”, but we must understand how the movie was set up. Even in real life, a black man who dates a WW (remember Peele is married to a WW) wouldn’t be so quick to leave at the first weird thing that happens in the timeline. I didn’t count the part where Chris finds out Rose didn’t tell her parents he was black. This is typical behavior of WW who date black men while away at college. So I think, like Cheri says, that is also part of Peele’s genius. It would also take a collection of events for a black man that dates out of race to finally “Get Out”. Like Heit said at the beginning most of us wouldn’t even be in that situation, and us watching behind the 4th wall I think hindsight is 20/20. Notice in the film all the subtle red flags that finally lead to Chris leaving: 1.) Her dad being all weird when they first arrived 2.) Two black servants 3.) Georgina being all weird 4.) her brother acting weird at dinner and while that’s the first day he had his girlfriend who he loves and trusts putting him at ease. So that night he may be mad (but not cause he told her) but he is definitely not suspicious enough to leave. So it’s not until after being hypnotized the night before by her mother his antenna goes up. I think we forget this pops off after only being there a full 24 hours and the midway point of the film. So all the partygoers are acting weird, and then he sees the brother he knows who has already been through the procedure. He sees that his phone is being unplugged, but it’s not until the “Get Out” part that Chris is leery, about being there. Then it’s all downhill from there.
Side note: The hypothesizing was prep ie “The Sunken Place” to make Chris's consciousness down for Jim's consciousness to be implanted.

You all discussed whether Jeremy lured people to their fate or not,but remember when Chris woke up in that room and the man who was to receive his eyes told him he was lucky to have had Rose do it because Jeremy’s method was more brutal (I’m paraphrasing) Great discussion you two ❤

I like this movie, but what's Horror about this? This was more of a thriller. The original Evil Dead, that's a horror film. The Exorcist, that's a horror film.

I know the consensus is that it's Jeremy that grabbed Lakeith Stanfield's character. I remember thinking, that maybe it was the grounds keeper, since he seems like the one to me that would be strong enough to grab another grown man like that.
But, probably not...because the grounds keeper probably would not have access to that car and that fly gear.

Idk if i want to point it out but i find it interesting that when rose and chris had those scenes when they were kissing i felt it was strategic for them to make the contrast in skin tone so obvious as in a way to make the viewer feel that this relationship wasnt meant to be. At every point in this movie the depth of his complexion was highlighted by the lighting and maybe that was intentional..darker more peak abilities?😂😂

Personally I feel that the family were actual liberals. But despite their beliefs greed and personal gain supersede any of their liberal ideals. So they might treat black people as people long as it doesn't take away or change their deep-rooted classist culture, or They could personally profit off of them.

So I am going to be a troublemaker to start another conversation. What does it say that the son in the family hadn't brought home a black woman to sit with him at the dinner table? Is that Jordan Peele stating something about black women and their body's worthiness of covetousness? Is this a stab at no one wants that? Or, is the maid enough for us to believe that this is not the case, lol. Just stirring the pot. 🤯🤣🤣🤣
