First of all as black people we try and fill out the family being white, black and so on.Before the first physical encounter we’re trying to feel the vibe . Of course they knew he was black.
As an Afro Latino male..... I wouldn't be going. Because we have FaceTime and video chats, and just general phone calls with our partners family members. Not to mention social media..... so you mean to tell me that she didn't send a pic of me to her parents or found me on social media 🤔 I've never spoken to them on the phone or glanced at them via FaceTime with her parents. I date all types of women but I will say that when It comes to white women I'm looking at her friends, the music she likes, films etc To determine if I want to be more than friends, situationship or a full blown relationship where I introduce them to my family. Because I don't want to be a secret and surprise them like hey I'm black dating your white daughter, friend, cousin etc
I think the message is to watch out for the folks that are always in black business and trying to insert themselves into black spaces. She wasn't standing up for him against the police officer. She was covering her tracks and making sure there was no papertrail in case Chris was reported missing. So, in my opinion, Rose is the recruiter. They will not have anyone with children because they are purposely seeking out people who don't have a close family or community network. Chris was an orphan with no other family and only one friend that we know of.
Jeremy was definitely doing the families bidding… Rose was 100% on the phone luring Lakeith into a trap… JP’s relationship absolutely informed his viewpoint and the creation of this movie. Hypnotize.
I think towards the end when he starts to realize something is wrong with everybody, including his gf, I think he wanted to play it cool simply because he was in the middle of nowhere and he was out numbered

I definitely think Jeremy (the brother) be bringing home black dudes/chicks just as often as Rose does. A lot of black gay dudes are accustomed to being in relationships with white dudes and are practiced at moving in the spaces of the (sometimes) accepting parents of their partners. His "playfully aggressive" personality is like catnip to some of us black gay dudes who are so used to being othered that Jeremy's behavior seems like affection.
I think Rose was on the phone with LeKeith's character because later we saw that he was in a photograph with Rose as being someone she was dating. So it seemed like a bate and trap type of collab with Rose and her brother.
@axiomamnesia Hey guys in theory with the cop scene. She WASNT standing up for him. She was covering the fact that the cops probably have been looking for black people but CANT identify them, because they weren't giving the cop their IDs. Or the cop can be in on it too. Making Rose look like a good guy.
You misunderstood what we were saying. When we mentioned her standing up for him, we were talking about how Chris saw that incident and why it would have given him more trust in her... Adding to why he was less suspicious of her in the end. Of course she wasn't really defending him with the cop and that's obvious once we know her intent was to bodysnatch him. Yes, she wanted to cover her tracks with the cop by not allowing Chris to reveal his identity, but that wasn't what we were talking about here. Hope this clears up the misunderstanding 😊
Its actually such a good point that we, as the audience, are use to seeing at least 1 good white person in the film. Its so engrained that not only was it a great misdirect that the girlfriend was also a villian but i remember watching the movie and think for a split second oh maybe the brother is just weird but NOT crazy too. Just because of how engrained that is! I never realized that
Hypnotize ME: First, I must say I love the thoroughness of your videos. The addition of the Eddie Murphy clips was a perfect reference. Here's my comment: I know most black folk like to say “I would have been gone if…”, but we must understand how the movie was set up. Even in real life, a black man who dates a WW (remember Peele is married to a WW) wouldn’t be so quick to leave at the first weird thing that happens in the timeline. I didn’t count the part where Chris finds out Rose didn’t tell her parents he was black. This is typical behavior of WW who date black men while away at college. So I think, like Cheri says, that is also part of Peele’s genius. It would also take a collection of events for a black man that dates out of race to finally “Get Out”. Like Heit said at the beginning most of us wouldn’t even be in that situation, and us watching behind the 4th wall I think hindsight is 20/20. Notice in the film all the subtle red flags that finally lead to Chris leaving: 1.) Her dad being all weird when they first arrived 2.) Two black servants 3.) Georgina being all weird 4.) her brother acting weird at dinner and while that’s the first day he had his girlfriend who he loves and trusts putting him at ease. So that night he may be mad (but not cause he told her) but he is definitely not suspicious enough to leave. So it’s not until after being hypnotized the night before by her mother his antenna goes up. I think we forget this pops off after only being there a full 24 hours and the midway point of the film. So all the partygoers are acting weird, and then he sees the brother he knows who has already been through the procedure. He sees that his phone is being unplugged, but it’s not until the “Get Out” part that Chris is leery, about being there. Then it’s all downhill from there. Side note: The hypothesizing was prep ie “The Sunken Place” to make Chris's consciousness down for Jim's consciousness to be implanted.
Another great video!Get Out is not even ten years old,but has already etched its way into cinematic history.I almost had a Get Out situation, and it wasn't even swirling.😂😂 Luckily my Ex knew her and her family woulda taken my soul.😂
You all discussed whether Jeremy lured people to their fate or not,but remember when Chris woke up in that room and the man who was to receive his eyes told him he was lucky to have had Rose do it because Jeremy’s method was more brutal (I’m paraphrasing) Great discussion you two ❤
I like this movie, but what's Horror about this? This was more of a thriller. The original Evil Dead, that's a horror film. The Exorcist, that's a horror film.
I wouldn't have thought to ask either. And game playing doesn't work in that type of relationship either. Situations, intentions, and expectations must be clear at all times when dealing with color or culture including religious beliefs.
But I would definitely love to hear y’all taking opinions on scary movie since it is a black written and directed and produced horror. Comedy movie is one of my favorite comedy movies of all time and I love horror movies I feel like it’s perfect for Halloween.
y'all hit it on the head when you referred to CULTURE, BECAUSE through my lens it is so much more going on here SPIRITUALLY and you guys aren't touching on a lot of it.... I understand if that is on purpose!!!
I know the consensus is that it's Jeremy that grabbed Lakeith Stanfield's character. I remember thinking, that maybe it was the grounds keeper, since he seems like the one to me that would be strong enough to grab another grown man like that. But, probably not...because the grounds keeper probably would not have access to that car and that fly gear.
Idk if i want to point it out but i find it interesting that when rose and chris had those scenes when they were kissing i felt it was strategic for them to make the contrast in skin tone so obvious as in a way to make the viewer feel that this relationship wasnt meant to be. At every point in this movie the depth of his complexion was highlighted by the lighting and maybe that was intentional..darker more peak abilities?😂😂
I'm curious does this still apply since Jordan Peele is 1/2 Black and 1/2 White? He also is married to a White woman and they have kids. By the way ditto for Key his ex partner.
I love that comedy creators like Jordan Peele show that they sometimes make some of the creepiest stuff. I have seen it and his other two movies. Us didn't do it for me but Nope was great.
I saw this movie a million times she told her parents about him. When he asked did you tell them I was black initially she acted like she didn’t. But then revealed that she was joking and did tell them.
I didnt like the dact he would go into the woods to meet her parents. There was no reason to do so, they werent announcing an engagement, or pregnancy so why would he go?
HYPNOTIZE ME! Since you're already covering a Jordan Peele film, I'd love for you to cover his second movie Us. As far as Get Out, I always thought maybe Chris grew up around a lot of White people and went to school with them. Maybe that's why he was so naive and trusting.
HYPNOTIZED 😵💫!!!This was an excellent discussion!! This a good horror movie but it really creeps me out! I haven’t seen it in a long time and I love rewatching my favorite movies but this one is hard to watch!!! Discussion Topic: Do you think it’s possible this can happen in real life??
I think the setup is possible, but I do not believe the technology currently exists to carry out such atrocities. But, if the technology did exist, well... - Cheri
Personally I feel that the family were actual liberals. But despite their beliefs greed and personal gain supersede any of their liberal ideals. So they might treat black people as people long as it doesn't take away or change their deep-rooted classist culture, or They could personally profit off of them.
It's nowhere near as good as this movie, but I actually saw a British mystery film called "Nothing but the night" (1973) that had a similar twist at the end but instead of younger black people it was orphaned children.
So I am going to be a troublemaker to start another conversation. What does it say that the son in the family hadn't brought home a black woman to sit with him at the dinner table? Is that Jordan Peele stating something about black women and their body's worthiness of covetousness? Is this a stab at no one wants that? Or, is the maid enough for us to believe that this is not the case, lol. Just stirring the pot. 🤯🤣🤣🤣
The dad excitement when he found out they hit a deer and his lil speech about "deers" messing up the ecosystem and stuff he was talking about black people 😢😂😂 smh

Whooooo lawd u dropped this right on time! Tuned in! 💪🏽
❤️❤️❤️
I have a thriller suggestion "the call" with Halle Berry and morris chestnut
#hypnotizeme
Just break down every Easter egg y'all can find. I'm so here for it❤
😆 I love it!
Im going wherever I want because I exercise my 2nd Amendment rights, so I would have been super good going to meet the folks....
How could it be about "swirling" when Peele himself is married to and has children with Chelsea Peretti? really?!
🤔 🤔
this was a fair analysis.....I do like your approach.
HYPNOTIZED ME... this video was very informative. I love watching the both of you break down the movies that we all enjoy. Keep it up guys❤❤❤❤💯💯💯
Our pleasure! 😊
History and reality is telling black people about swirling but they srill ignore it.
5:35 Yeah, but I’m a much better judge of character than Chris 😂
Ryan Coogler has a podcast and Jordan was on. He said he had the idea of the movie way back in the mid 2000’s.
Breakdowns on horror would be awesome 👀😈
y'all hit it on the head when you referred to CULTURE, BECAUSE through my lens it is so much more going on here SPIRITUALLY and you guys aren't touching on a lot of it.... I understand if that is on purpose!!!
Hypnotize Me!!! Love the discussions
Brilliant analysis,thank you....
Is it of importance that Peele is married to a very white woman and has two kids with her?
We discuss this in full detail in the video 🙂
😂😂😂 I remember that joke. My brother told it to me when I was sad💚
We actually discuss this in significant detail in the video. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on our perspectives on this.
Y’all should do scary movie it was written by the Waynes
Hypnotize me! Great commentary as always!
Glad you enjoy it! 😁
Yes we are aware she had told her parents all along.
"Hypnotize me'' 😊🙌🏾
I didnt like the dact he would go into the woods to meet her parents. There was no reason to do so, they werent announcing an engagement, or pregnancy so why would he go?
It was supposed to be an introductory weekend. 😆
HYPNOTIZE ME! Since you're already covering a Jordan Peele film, I'd love for you to cover his second movie Us. As far as Get Out, I always thought maybe Chris grew up around a lot of White people and went to school with them. Maybe that's why he was so naive and trusting.
Hypnotize me... but not really. Lol this was a good listen while i work. Thanks!❤
- Cheri
5:48 hell no.
Personally I feel that the family were actual liberals. But despite their beliefs greed and personal gain supersede any of their liberal ideals. So they might treat black people as people long as it doesn't take away or change their deep-rooted classist culture, or They could personally profit off of them.
Hypnotize Me. Great reaction!
Luckily I don’t swirl 👍🏾
Hypnotize Me ☕️ 🔴⚪️ hopefully in the future there is an " US"✂️ Movie review
Maybe it might be this month. Should we cover it?
@AxiomAmnesia Please YES ..and
BEHOLD THE COAGULA 🦌
I loved the point u made that liberal in this movie representing hidden aggression very interesting I never caught that
I can’t wait for the next Get out vid 🎉🎉
It's nowhere near as good as this movie, but I actually saw a British mystery film called "Nothing but the night" (1973) that had a similar twist at the end but instead of younger black people it was orphaned children.
I seen a preview of a similair movie starring Brandy. It seems like thats the female version of get out. I wish i could recall the name of the movie.
I watched that movie with Brandy that just came out. It is called The Front Room I think.
Hypnotize me😮😮😮
“Does appear to be white” for some reason just sent me haha😂😂😂😂
I didn't wanna make assumptions 😂
@@AxiomAmnesia I know exactly why you said it the way you did which is why it’s funny to me 🤣🤣🤣
So I am going to be a troublemaker to start another conversation. 🤯🤣🤣🤣
This is good trouble 😂... Why the choice of men vs women for the most part? Gotta think about this one!
Get out was so great but this is perfect for people like Dr Umar
Hypnotize Me, y'all should cover Demon Night
I watched that a few months ago!
@@AxiomAmnesia I must have missed that review.
We didn't review it. I just watched it.
Jordan peele's wife is white
😮
