For our last video this year we've got a bit of a treat for you. Even if you're not a fan of drifting, Mike's story is so captivating it's applicable to anyone who loves motorsport, building cars and dreaming big! To most of us, "Mad" Mike Whiddett is a drifting icon. A star of viral RedBull action videos, a BMX and Freestyle motocross rider, and one of the most successful New Zealand exports. But this status wasn’t just handed to him on a silver platter. Quite the opposite in fact. We sit down with Mike for a candid talk about the early days of NZ car scene, his passion for drifting and the racing career of his son - Lincoln. Enjoy:) Liked this video? Churrr😎The camo "hi ace" with the bikes in the back and his wagon rollin down "queen" convoyed up 20+ deep "barp barp barpin" those were the days💪and he's STILL an Orsum dude👍"Mad" Respect
Been a big supporter of Mike for a long time. Met him many years ago at Gold Coast Indy and he had his rx7 there (pretty much the whole reason I went there). Mike happily chatted and showed things on his car. Awesome guy. Wish him all the best.
So (for me) this is a perfect example of you should never judge a book by its cover. I dont follow the drift scene, but I appreciate the engineering that goes into the builds. Clearly Mike... is extremely talented.... and Ive only really seen snippets of him from social media etc. Unfortunately i drew a conclusion of a guy that i never knew and how wrong i was. He is a genuine, down to earth individual who deserves to embrace and enjoy all the success he has.
Mike used to attract Hate for the exact thing he is explaining. Pushing boundaries, being wild , having wild cars clothing etc. He was forging his own path and rising above it and thats a great way to look at it. And yes he had the baddest cars lol
I remember watching radbul being built and then him coming to orlando for formula drift, i was never really interested in rotaries until i saw his cars and content, seeing Mike and hearing radbul in person was an insane and probably my best motorsport experience.
Thanks tuning fork that video was made for someone that is an up and coming creator following his dreams the last bit of this video was inspirational so thanks for nother mad video.
Been a true fan since 2010. Meet him in 2014! Living legend, iconic style on all of his cars, humble family man and the best role model for the new generation! Love from Norway❤️
I only recently discovered Mad Mike, and sucks I missed him in his "prime" / when he was more active in motorsports. Hes a cool great guy, builds awesome cars, and I absolutely love Mazda and love him for giving Mazda more exposure / doing cool things with their cars and rotary engines. I was so happy seeing him go up pike's peak in the souped up Mazda3. I wish Mazda was as popular in the states as it is in Australia.
Always nice seeing the backstories, even more so when they have created their own path and succeeded. Here's one for MM if he wants a challenge on a project/something different. He should build a Rotary powered Chevy Vega as it was initially intended for or a Chevy Monza 2+2 as its final option. Could be something right up Mr MM alley.
Met him because of #BADBULL in need for speed ended up with a RX-8 as my first car afterwards fell in love with the rotary engine and the rest is history, definitely a legend and great driver with such a cool history.
The best drivers and racers are the best at marketing. Hands down. They sell shit by doing what they love. Unlike a car salesman that hates their job. He has the dream job
Scott you should narrate audiobooks I have watched and listened to you for years as you drag the MCM rigs bag from the brink of knock knock. You have a fine cadence and an understanding of topic that is sorely missing from (I am in my bathroom with towels over the shower screens or in a much much smaller audio booth than I should be) voiceover youtube team. You rip and made the vid nice work man happy 2023

He is the proof you don't need to win to be good not saying he is not good tho. He understood building a brand.
Winning races don't sell energy drinks, winning fans do. :)
Big supporter of Mike and now Linc from across the globe in Ireland! The 1st reveal of Madbul is what inspired me to do my 4 rotor build! Legend 🙏
Mike is a HUGE personality.
His cars and how he drives them are how he expresses that personality.
I've met Mike a few times... he's a super friendly, approachable guy. His kids have the coolest dad ever!
Mad Mike is a legend 👍🤙
No arguments here.
much love for mike, met him when I was very young

Had a 45 minute conversation about fatherhood at the Jamboree at Manfield. No ego, no bs persona.
Tough as.
Genuinely nice, down-to-earth dude.

The Rotax flat track race bike was the first rotor I ever heard. Complete with super trap. Rotors are awesome.
