I usually just use a piece of wood on my jack and jack it right on the rocker panel behind the litle block thing then put your jack stand on the block thing, it's the only way I could figure out how to do the same thing haha
Great video. Quick question: I’m getting a bit of vibration at idle. I’m thinking it may be the original lower engine mount (the upper mount seems to be ok). I wonder if these yellow bushings will reduce vibration at idle (or maybe make it worse)?
The yellow bush will stop the vibrations and also give a smoother gear change. You will experience some vibration for the first few hundred miles as the new bush settles in. Don’t put the black inserts in. It will vibrate terribly.

hi, do you have the part number for the lower engine mount bolts? I've looked everywhere and it's nearly impossible to find them. I have a set of the top motor mount bolts but I have yet to order the lower mount bolts. Thank you!
If your bush has worn out just replace with the power flex bush. It’s a bit difficult to get out, I found drilling several holes in the bush made it easier to cut out and remove.

But still not easy to shift over 5K RPM and metali noise when crank the engine. I just bought on ebay the transmission/otherside engine mount, but not sure if i'll need too that lower mount replacement or just a bush would be cool.

hi mate i have the same mount that fits on my bmw 2 series grand tourer, what i would like to know when this mount needs replacing do you hear like when u turn or hit a bump u hear a knocking noise?
You will feel a vibration under acceleration. Also if you open the bonnet and try to rock the engine if you feel movement the mount needs replacing. They don’t last very long I’m afraid. If you’re getting a clunking sound when going over bumps you may find your top mount needs replacing.

I cut the old bush out. It was starting to perish anyway. They have a very short life I’m afraid. You can’t just buy the bush from Mini. It’s a complete unit. I bought a 2nd hand engine mount and used that instead of cutting up a new one.
It’s very noticeable through the whole car and the brake pedal. With them removed the vibrations have stopped, The bush performs just as well with the inserts removed
I removed the black inserts as I didn’t like the vibration coming through the car at idle, No noticeable difference in handling or performance with them in or out.

Hi, no. There is no need to support the engine with a jack. The lower mount acts more of a stabiliser for front to back movement. By changing to the power flex bush you may see the upper mounts wear quicker or may already need replacing.

@@misteryguitarboy1 I don’t have the part numbers. The bolts for the lower mounts don’t need to be replaced. They do need to torqued to 100nm

If there is a lot of movement then the lower will certainly need doing. It’s a quick easy job.

I see you left the black insert out of the new bushing. Have you tried it both ways, and if so, can you describe the difference you feel?

Wheel hop is eliminated by using the Powerflex inserts for the upper engine mount.
