I like how you're actually having a conversation, these are the best kind of videos
Louis Auto Agreed. I think that's the best part of these One Takes.
Louis Auto check out my convo I made up for them and tell me what you think
I have a DSG 2006 GTI with a stage 2+ tune, 130k miles and no problems what so ever. She's been hammered numerous times so if anyone is being discouraged about DSG by people who have never driven them just know a random guy on the internet gives them a thumbs up.
+Dylan Cunningham AMEN ! Love my 16 GLI DSG
You own 16 of them? Or did you mean 06?
nooo lol. Its its a 2016 GLI haha
oh ok cool is it rock stock or you done anything to it
I have a video I just did a resonator delete with glasspack at the end painted matte black sounds VERY good. in around a year as long as theres no problems im gonna k04 swap her. Might just go stage 1 or 2 in a couple months. For now I am satisfied tho since its my DD.
Volkswagen: the best of both worlds. Quiet when you’re cruising and loud when you’re whipping
Gotta love a tastefully modified package, especially when you're not expecting it to drive as nice as it does.
Guarantee someone in the comment section will bitch about this car being automatic .
You sir is correct.
It's stupid why people complain about autos.. Not everyone who loves driving their car like manual Driving.
jason statham Fortunately, I have a very similarly modified GLI with a stick coming next week.
TheSmokingTire just wondering if you have done or going to do any Hyundai Genesis one take in the future ? I really Wana get your opinion on that car.
jason statham The dsg gearbox is a disaster in itself not the fact that its automatic.
The owner of the car talking makes or breaks these videos. John was great in this one fun to watch and listen too!
"The best part about aids is that you can only get it once" - Matt Farah 2015
We will love you forever if you manage to get daily uploads.
Benjamin Graham Don't know if I'll get there, but I'm going for three per week starting this week.
TheSmokingTire thanks Matt!
TheSmokingTire thanks to you and the crew for the hard work! much fucking appreciated!
TheSmokingTire God bless
TheSmokingTire Matt I like the vids but what about the fucking fox body.
Those Jettas are pretty quick. I raced one and he kept up pretty good.
Brandon Herrera and what car did u in?
Saifuddin Matassan a corvette?
@@LongNguyen-lx8if LOL
@@bvedant why u laughing mk 6 Gli are faster than that old vette in the pic guess you're one of those dudes who think bigger engine always faster lol
@@mik55tv22 have fun rebuilding that engine after 2 races. for a 6 year old car it has the same build quality as that old corvette. they're all built in mexico for the 3rd world to have a "luxury german car"
I want to see the exterior so badly
LOL, BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE FOR A HOT MINUTE EVER SINCE THE VIDEO WHERE THIS CAR PASSES MATT ON THE ROAD, AND HE'S LIKE "OH WE'RE ABOUT TO FILM THAT CAR NEXT!!!"
I like how when he heard "Corbin", he had the look of death on his face
Love how much these one takes have taught me about tires. Thanks for the videos Matt.
"It was a multiplier of the speed limit." Got a good laugh outta me with that one.
I love these videos. Just pure thoughts about what's good and bad about every car and you get to easily pump these videos out every week. No filler, no crap, just a ton of cars and videos.
Im loving these one takes! So many really awesome and unique rides!
It's cool that those Cayenne brakes were a direct bolt-on.
VAG parts bin
Seeing a comparison of a manual GTI/GLI would be interesting.
I DD the manual, it makes my peepee hard
I was never a VW fan until I heard that snort of the day shifing love that sound
Glad to see another fan of the DSG, its a good transmission. Also, i saw that kandi on your shift knob :)
Been waiting for so long for this!
Please never stop doing these...
Thank you John and Matt, this video has given me some much needed perspective.
I own a 2005 Volvo S40, T5 AWD 6-speed, with an array of bolt-ons and just shy of 125k miles and I've gone back and forth more times than I can count with the "refresh or trade out" proposition as daily use manifests into ever increasing slop.
The refresh I've had penned out would include - among other things - a set of KW V3 and a K16 turbo swap. With upgraded intercooler, intake, downpipe, exhaust, brakes, 19x8 wheels and a tune the car is already fairly well off... but I've discovered some pet peeves in the few years of daily driving such a car. Like we saw with John's GLI, my S40 also takes excessive input to point and load up, rides stiff and rubs, traits that will almost certainly remain even after a refresh... not to mention the 500lb gorillas that are wheel-hop and understeer.
It's painful to admit but neither my love of the styling nor the 'uniqueness factor' are enough to keep me from lamenting the inherent shortcomings of the platform and those in the same realm, like the GLI.
3:59 That's what she said
You are the best Matt! I watch these videos before Chris Harris videos, and that says alot
After watching this, it made me realize the potential the Jetta. I had been considering buying one and now I'm even more so enthused to get one.
And vw gets recalled
good job man! nice videos ! i love how do this idea! keep it up MATTTT
One of the best sleeper cars i have ever seen.Good job!
These are so cheaply built compared to the new ones though. "Luxury" car for the third world that was given a stage 0.5 upgrade. I'm not even hating on the company I'm a sucker for VAGs, just that there are better models out there.
Awesome vid glad to see Jshay got his car reviewed. Killer setup on this GLI. If anyone wants to mod their VW I'd say visit Auto Union Tuning in Huntington Beach that's where John had his Frankenturbo installed and where alot of people including myself go to for any kind of build. Really knowledgeable guys when it comes to VW's
best one take in a while
this guy is chill, I was entertained by the dialogue haha
Great car and very cool owner! This is the kind of car that makes OneTakes so great!
Also finally someone who agrees with my on newer Volkswagen sticks being too short!
I'm very excited to finally see a frankenturbo in a review! I've been thinking about purchasing one and it's great to hear some professional feedback on a car with one.
they are great but in all honesty we have yet to see the reliability and durability of a frankenturbo as compared to the Apr ko4 or any ko4 in general. I'd say go APR or Unitronic Ko4 all great products and customer service is top notch. Not to mention APR has been doing some software revisions on their ko4 ecu with great results. Just look up KuwaitGuy Gti on UA-cam and you'll see his races. His gti is a v8 killer for sure
I'd rather not go k04 though the f23t is half the price and puts out more power and comes with a nice 2yr warranty. I get what you're saying but Id probably go big turbo before k04
I hear you, frankenturbo is appealing because of price but you still have to tune it which is additional money of course. I'm in the same dilemma at the moment. Stage 2 at the moment and can't decide whether to go Ko4 or APR gtx kit.
+eddie acevedo If you've got the money go big turbo but I'd go with the CTS big turbo kit over APR it's more affordable and just as powerful.
What exhaust did you install? Sounds very good and even though it's a bit loud it doesn't bother me
Loving the car!
Man you should've recorded the outside of the car!!! On the thumbnail it looks dope!!! I have a 2012 Volkswagen R32 that I'm sure you'll love to check out😏🇩🇪🇩🇪 nonetheless, I will always love GLI & Wolfsburg
Car sounds amazing. I think an intake, down pipe and exhaust are a safe assumption, but I’m wondering if all the internals are stock in addition to the rebuilt turbo?
What gear do you drive in for the paddle shift ? Great video and love the way the gli sounds buy the way I just bought a 2014 gli and I love it !
Sweet Ride Man!! :)
Come to Chicago and drive my car! The stop and go traffic would be really fun!
As soon as he said Corbin I was like WHAAAAAT! But then no...
My first and second cars were Jettas..I miss em
Not a car I'd bring to the track or anything, but if you're into quick cars that you can daily drive it's hard to argue with a nice setup like this.
The GLI is a lot different from a jetta. It has far better suspension, a turbo 2.0l, better interior, it sits lower and it looks better :)
What year ? I want to upgrade my turbo but nothing for the gen 3 tsi :(( I have a 16 GLI
It's a 2012.
Impressive numbers for sure. Would love to know if all internals are stock?
Hey Matt, when do we get to see the next TST in NZ, im dying to see that MC2 screamer!!, love the vids btw.
***** Hmmm abit out of knowhere budd. I can assure you nothing about me resembles a giant whale penis. If im a dork what does that make you?.
+TheSmokingTire where can I find the build on Johns's Jetta? The page is no longer on wheelwell. I am thinking about getting a 2012 and love hi build.
Looks cool!
im hoping ONE DAY u will drive a MK4 R32!
Frankie G legendary car :')
Frankie G A tech at my work has a MK4 R32 and a newer 2010 R32. Admittedly they are pretty damn nice, and I'm not even that much of a VW fan.
Jake Woitzel The N/A VR6 is such a sweet fucking motor. The only downside IMO with that car is the BS Haldex AWD. It needs a good center locking diff.
Yeah I hear good things from the techs all the time about the VR6. But I know practically nothing about the AWD system. What's so bad about the center locking diff? See I'm used to my AWD DSM.XD
Jake Woitzel No, I'm saying it needs a locking diff. It needs Quattro.
Swapping gears in gearboxes depends a lot on the car. For example lots of people rebuild Honda B-series gearboxes, and many people do a "Frankenstein" setup with the 5th gear from the non-VTEC gearbox for better highway RPM and fuel economy. My Integra GSR's stock gearbox turns nearly 4K at 70 MPH in 5th on the interstate. I would love to have the LS 5th gear which would bring it down to under 3K at 70.
What kind of wheels does the owner have on that GLI??????????
I have a question, I have a limited knowledge of cars but I'm looking into getting a '13 GLI Autobahn... I have also heard of two other versions of the GLI. The MK6(Mark 6) and the DSG, If someone could just explain to me the distinctions between them & which is the best version, based on performance?
Hey Matt, 6 months ago you posted a video titled Project Fox Mustang is Nearly Done. Any chance we'll see the nearly done Mustang anytime soon lol.
Are all the brake components (rotor and calipers) of the Porsche? What about the rear all so?
Hey Matt u got any 1997-2001 Honda Preludes booked on your show in the future ??
Coolest guy yet
I like his Jetta clean looking
Very nice gli!
27psi on pump gas on a relatively small turbo? Hope your tune is good.
After my warranty my 2014 TDI Sportwagen will get upgrades. Haven't seen super nice chips that are more user friendly to swap between "stages".
Plus this whole lowering the monster truck.
the road makes me scared. i want to drive on it
Well those modifications affect your gas mileage?
are the clutches slipping? :S
Have the same car, couldn't agree more with that he said
Totally debating on whether if I wanna mod my Jetta or just buy RS3 since they both look similar as a sedan silhouette but obviously RS3 is out the factory the faster car
His wheel well is 404. Does anyone have a link to his UA-cam channel? I wanna hear the exhaust on the outside.
I like how he talks about the manual shifters in vw's. And the guy is talking about something completely different! haha
Go to Brazil, we use ethanol for 35 years so far and you can get most the from the US market cars tunned and maybe running with E100 instead of E85, VW and Audis for sure.
TheSmokingTire Id like to see you in a 3.6L VR6 Passat or CC run the canyons, they are great engines and with some mods can really haul. Is there any VR6s coming up on the schedule Matt?
Hayden Finnesand There is an R32 coming up, but no Passats or CC's. I thought about buying a CC when it first came out, because they looked dope as hell for the money, and then I drove one and was like, "oh, this is a Passat." and left.
TheSmokingTire hahaha that's hilarious. They are a face lifted Passat with some luxuries amities added to them but there's nothing wrong with a good old reliable Passat. I have a 2006 3.6L Passat 4Motion and I love it! Sadly I live in South Dakota, otherwise I'd let you take it for a spin. If you ever road trip out to the Black Hills of South Dakota let me know, there is great scenic winding mountain roads to drive.
It sounds different, i like it
DOUBLE CLUTCH AUTO. A BEAST .
Hey Matt my favorite color is purple, what's yours?
hah.. why is when I was JUST looking into the GLIs and barely finding out they pack some power you post a video about this car? No wonder a Jetta a couple days ago wanted to get frisky with me when I was driving to work. I out accelerated him in the really tight sweeping turns so much that he couldn't catch up. Later on I researched a bit on the car and turns out VW under rates the HP figures! The HP the advertise is closer to the WHP than the CHP.
Edit: Also, I wonder why he went for this car when he wanted a car to fix up. How is the aftermarket support for Jettas? Sounds extremely expensive.
Zcypot Have a look:
www.frankenturbo.com/new/F23T.html
www.goapr.com/
www.ctsturbo.com/
www.ecstuning.com/
Zcypot The new Jettas/GLI are more readily available with OEM+ parts for performance. They share a lot of the same components as the GTI or many other VAG cars and bolt straight on, for example the suspension. This makes the OEM+ upgrades cheaper than aftermarket new parts in general because you can just buy the second hand parts off of wrecked GTIs. In actuality it may be cheaper than you may think.
Zcypot the frankenturbo on his car costs $1300, the 2.0t TSI in his car is used throughout almost all of VW and Audis lineup so there's a huge aftermarket available and parts are fairly inexpensive.
Gli is not expensive at all. MK6 Gli has the same engine as the MK6 GTI. Simple KO4 swap will net you around 320ish who depending on your setup. This all costs about 3.5k parts labor. Or you could keep your stock turbo and tune it for about 600 bucks to get to 285 crank hp and 320tq. I myself have a GLI and love it because its honestly a sleeper. This is coming from a MK5 R32 owner
not the corvin i know... lol.. whatever happened to the rx7 and what is he up to now
curious...have you driven an Acura tl sh-awd??
great car. I have a 30 edition in a manual. Cost a bit more to tune a manual, the dsg will hold most tunes well. Whereas the clutch/pp in the manuals only hold up to around 300 ft/lbs torque
What wheels?
so??? does it have a k03 or k03s turbo?
just got an automatic jetta mk6 tsi, I want my car to sound like yours
why not the 6 speed Manual?
Where is that place? Looks nice, reminds me of some places in Mexico :)
As a mark 6 GTI owner, I'm not sure where you're getting the short shifter nonsense. Having come from an 8th gen Civic Si, both the clutch and the shifter felt SOOO much longer when I first got in it. Maybe give one another try.
Would love to see you one take a modded volvo 240 740 or 940. Some one needs to give you one to video
I have a 16 jetta 1.4 tsi I'm looking to upgrade my turbo, like this set up just get it modified to go to my motor, will it run with everything else stock. Such as piping or will I need it all upgraded
Chad Tobin you'll probably need all the exhaust
Is this automatic with shifters?
great videos Matt.
I will say this about that gear box modification you want to do... just save your money and get it done or buy all the tools, the manual and learn to do it yourself. cause you'll never be happy until you know what your Vette will be like exactly, until you get it the way you want it to be. it's only money right? it comes easily and frequently and you can't take it with you...
What type of exhaust is this?
GLI shifters are notoriously BIG - not short. I drive a manual 13’
Interested to see a modified Taurus SHO
Damn, I would love that you review my moded ST, but I live in Mexico City :(
what do they mean by rub
What a beautiful road. Only Cali
is it AWD?
How do I get rid of wheel hoping on my 09 mk6 GTI?
+Paulo Tomasio if you lowered it you might need to either modify or find after market control arms or at least the bushings. need to make sure your arms are at a somewhat horizontal position after lowering otherwise you will get mad wheel hop. maybe a sway bar would help too.
What wheels are these
Can someone explain rubbing?
What road is that I feel I have been on it before
Hey Matt, is that a 116610LV on the wrist? There is something about the "hulk" model that i absolutely love.
coreyregs I don't know what that is. My watch is a "green bezel" Rolex Submariner Anniversary Edition.
It's a 16610LV
I not sure, but last time i checked a stop sign ment stop not just slow down :)
