It's starts simple and gradually adds one layer after another. But I love how it takes its time, it's in no hurry to reveal the next thing and we don't care because we're hypnotized by the song. Damn, I miss these guys.
INXS ("in excess") was formed in Australia and became huge in the 80's w/ their pop anthems and their rock star singer Michael Hutchence. They were comprised of 3 brothers - Tim Farriss (guitar), Andrew Farriss (keyboards), Jon Farriss (drums)... w/ Garry Gary Beers (bass)... INXS broke big in Australia... then Europe... and America... w/ massive hits like - 'Need you tonight' ... 'What you need' ... 'Listen like thieves'... 'Suicide blonde'... 🔥🔥 Michael Hutchence was clearly the star of INXS and was hailed for his distinct voice and live stage presence... Offstage, he was famous for his dating life... In the 90's, he began a scandalous relationship w/ Paula Yates, wife to a major British personality Bob Geldof and mother to his kids... Hutchence and Yates welcomed a daughter together while she fought for divorce & custody of her children. INXS struggled w/ declining record sales in the 90's but were still popular, releasing the album 'Elegantly wasted' in 1997... Michael Hutchence recorded a solo album and hoped to put it out the following year. Late in 1997, Michael Hutchence was hoping to see Yates and his daughter for the Christmas holidays but was informed that the court cases were delayed and he would not be able to see them... After making a number of desperate phone calls w/ no results, Michael Hutchence apparently took his own life in his hotel room, where he was found in the morning by staff. A few years later, Paula Yates passed away from her addictions... Her daughter w/ Hutchence was raised by her ex-husband Bob Geldof. INXS tried to replace Michael Hutchence... but it was impossible to find someone w/ his charisma and voice, so the band split up after 2012.
INXS are Aussie legends! Biggest band in the world in late 80s and early 90s... especially live! As everyone will say you pronounce their name as In Excess..clever right 😂 This song was responsible for many babies being conceived!! Beautifull song, beautifull video..set in Prague before the fall of the iron curtain....so was quite a unique setting.

Loooove them!! They’re soooo high energy and have a great sound. The lead singer Michael Hutchence was sooo charismatic. New Sensation and What You Need are great choices for your next songs. 👍🏼👍🏼
You have to do more of this wonderful band from down under. Darlings of the 70s, 80s, and 90s until Michael Hutchence tragically took his life in 1997. I was beside myself when I got the news. I would suggest Devil Inside for something upbeat to do next. Need You Tonight, What You Need, and Suicide Blonde are other staples. So happy to see you discover them!
@@darcystcorner2580 YES! I saw them in Vancouver, Canada on Sept 1 1997 for the Elegantly Wasted tour, a couple of months before he passed. I am so happy I got to see them that last time.

When this song was released INXS were one of the most well known bands in the world. INXS means doing something a bit too much i.e. in excess - Aussies like to shorten things but unfortunately sometimes foreigners are not quite sharp enough to pick up on it.. 😊

Have a question for yall. This was several years ago. Saw a movie about these guys. Where it ended they where at a wedding and the keyboard player started this song with Michael started to sing the first line and then it went in to a concert sing this. What was the name of the movie
The lead singer, Michael Hutchense, had a very sad and unique demise in Las Vegas ,I believe, in the aughts. I know I cried along with the rest of Gen X.
He died in 1997. It looked like he was playing around with autoerotic strangulation and accidentally killed himself. There's a video documentary all about it.
@suecook1326 , that rumor was disproven by the coroner's inquest. Michael suffered traumatic brain injury in 1992. The damage from that incident led to mood and anger issues, poor impulse control, loss of his sense of task and smell, among other issues. He did not have medical treatment and did not disclose this injury to anyone over the next 5 years. His girlfriend at the time of the incident had promised to keep it secret (she was there when it happened) and she only shared the details about 20 years after his death. This TBI, along with sleep deprivation, being drunk, under stress, and having received bad news, all contributed to what the coroner's report classed as an impulsive act.
@@suecook1326he Hung himself, suicide. The autoerotic stuff was put out by Paula Yates as she couldn't come to terms with Michael killing himself. The Coroner ruled it as suicide and the events of that night and cocktail of medications supports this ruling. The credible documentaries state this.

You pronounce it like "in excess" but say it as if there's no space between the words. :) I saw INXS live three times, including twice in the first few rows in front of the stage. They ROCK. You should definitely hit up New Sensation next. Fro the same album, but a totally different sound. And if you want to go back to their beginnings, probably check out Don't Change or One Thing, which were the songs that broke them onto the charts back when they were babies.
Oh... I forgot. They're Australian. Sadly, the singer Michael passed away far too young and the band basically ended then. He died late 90's. Maybe 98? That may be wrong, but it's not far off if it is.
