    Interesting video. I saw someone else on UA-cam do something similar and he explained it in the same way you just did. I’m keen to test it out on one of my houseplants, not sure which one will be the guinea pig yet, ha ha!

      Test it out on something affordable and make sure the top cutting has lots of air roots before you cut 😄

    I realize I won't really have to do this, but your video and technique inspires me to start a new planty project of chopping my PPP and putting all the cuttings in a big pot to make a bushy plant. 😊I have a really nice specimen I snagged as a cutting for about 40 dollars. Now it creates a lot of (almost) half moon leaves. It even created an almost fully pink leaf (it has a tiny speck of green lol).
    Unfortunately though, the pink parts of the leaves go brown after a while. I know this is because they can't produce the chlorophyl to sustain themselves, but it seems like other people are able to maintain their PPPs better. Like, they have super mature plants with no browning. So I'm like...what am I doing wrong? Any advice?

      Now im not sure if this will help but i would suggest looking into silica and seeing if that helps. I use it for my albo and thai constellation plant and it seems to help the white parts not brown as much. Idk if it would help with your ppp but it's supposed to strengthen cell tissue within the plant!

    I get the stem coloring.. but.. mine has mega pink stripes on every single stem and still very little pink on the new leaves.. lots of new leaves unfurling but just specs of pink. no matter what stem or where I could cut it all has pink stripes.. ugh.. lol❤

    Thanks for this. Might have to try with my beauty. I bought a single leaf cutting with nice variegation but it has produced a new stalk with only 3 utterly green leaves. 😬 Thing is I can't see any variegation on that stem. 😔 And the old one doesn't seem to have any buds left.

    • @prettyingreen
      @prettyingreen  Рік тому +1

      Then this is the perfect use case for this strategy! As soon as I get more than 1 leaf of green, I start hunting up and down the stalk for striping to line up with an axillary bud 😄

    Hello ! I got a cutting of monstera deliociosa halfmoon. The trunk is half green half white. Now there are 4 leafs, with white stains only. Do you think I should cut the trunk (it has roots) and separate it from the not half-moon leafs ? I mean, if I want a better variegation ? I suppose that the half-moon aspect will not come back with time ? Thank you 🌱

    • @prettyingreen
      @prettyingreen  Рік тому +1

      We made a video on exactly how to improve variegation on albo-and it is all about here the axillary bud lines up on the stem. If the coloring splits down the oval-shaped bud, you’re golden and worth cutting! If not, leave it to grow more

    my PPP keeps rotting in the sheath, so the leaves comes out with the bottom half gone. Any recommondations or idea why it's happening?

      @@prettyingreen Could be. My humidity is at 85% all the time. The aerial roots are happy but the leaves are not 😛 But it's so strange that it's only happening to my PPP but not the many monstera albo or adosonii albo in the same growing tent
