Roy Harper , probably the most overlooked poets of are time. Master guitar player , very clever, unique and humble. He may sometimes have his moments when he will slowly talk philosophy during his gigs even when heckled by the odd person, but he never gives in to that and will talk longer and slower. One of the great minds and thinkers of are generation. That's why people like Jimmy page and many others from the music world are drawn in by this man's ability to be a social critic, a voice, a poet all through his music. Roy Harper has probably had chances to sell out and make the album that the record producer wants him to make (don't get me wrong some off his later albums not up their to his standards, but he can still pull off a gem of a song on a bad album) but he has never gave in to the world of fame fortune and fakeness. He's stayed a traditional musical artist , putting bread on his table . Today in a world of false celebrities who pass somehow off as musicians or artists and make millions, Roy is an example too all the people who are real artists who put the craft ahead of fame and fortune. Easily along with musicians like Nick drake and other artists who came to light to the bigger audience after they had gone, Roy Harper will hopefully be appreciated and set an example for the world of music and poetry.
this is why jimmy page is the greatest guitarest that has ever held the instrument..it is the essence of the guitar to be played this way..he has matured to be the best that ever was..who else from jimmy's background has been a master all techniques of play..he has shown this to be true..proving his talent for the guitar with out a sent of promulgation..this is a unusualy quiet man of rock n roll representing the roots off the guitar...and the stories told through music..he is truly amazing
Dave V- Very true, but I can't think of many guitarists, excluding Hendrix, Green, and Roy, that had Jimmy's creative mind, even if it was above his own technical ability. If Page hadn't done drugs, he would probably have pushed further with Zep's compositions. He broke a boundary between technicality and creativity that captivates me, and I respect him fully for that.
This is so beautiful. Jimmy Page started as England's most in demand studio musician. Of course he can adapt to any style. He cut his teeth professional on exactly that. Do your homework before you critique.
@Dave V It is strictly your opinion, that there are many better than Jimmy Page. I do not agree with your opinion, and I never will. The logic, is that if you are going to say someone isn't that good on the guitar, then lets see you play the guitar better. I have youtube video's of me playing, both solo and in bands. I do not claim to be at the level of any of the aforementioned guitarists, but I do play, and understand the dedication it takes to get to a level of a "professional" So, if you don't play guitar, or any other instrument, then the logic is... you haven't experienced the joy, and hardship it takes to play an instrument.
@Dave V you're so funny. Enjoy your opinion. You never said you played any instruments either. Again, say what you will, you won't change my mind. I read and comprehend just fine. I also don't care if I play music better or worse than anyone else. I play for my enjoyment. I don't care what you think.
This collaboration was incredible. Both of them sounding just as fantastic as the old days. Roy's voice is a little deeper in tone, than in the past, naturally, but wow he's still got it. I can't say enough about Jimmy...he has more imagination, creativity and talent than any other guitarist I've ever known. No one has ever had that "feel" to playing, producing and writing music like hes always had. I couldn't care less that he missed some notes onstage during the few yrs he was on heroin. When he wasn't strung-out, he played beautifully. Is hilarious to see the haters come out of the woodwork at the mere mention of his name...much of it stemming from spiteful jealousy, IMO. They can piss up a rope for all I care 😂
It seems like Page 's gentle and tasteful way approach to playing acoustic guitar is in contrast to his almost violent way of handling an electric one . Page and Harper make a really good duo , there styles are quite similar but always tasteful and complimentary . I could and very well might listen to this all night! Many Thanks for uplaoding .
@@apes4days254 Like any great musician he pulls from a wide range of musicians: Narcisco Yepes, Bert Jansch, John Renbourn, Clarence White, Lowell George (Page's favorite American band, Little Feat), Scotty Moore, James Burton, and Harper, to say nothing of all the old great blues musicians.
Tears to my eyes…I remember when Harper would try and recruit any guitar superstar that happened to be recording their Album in the same studio as him, in the 70’s…because his music was deemed un-commercial. Page, Gilmour…I have all those Albums. But to see how Page is so on top of his guitar playing in his older years compared to the end of Zeppelin or his 80’s projects where he was so doped….makes my heart sing! What a success story of a Man! Went to Hell and came back stronger!
Hats off to Roy Harper , have had a one woman Roy Harper festival in my house in Cheshire this weekend..I truly forgot how much his music touched my heart ,love to old hippies everywhere 😻
When I heard Hats off to Roy Harper I always thought it must be an old blues man they all grew up listening to. Years later I find hes a contemporary of theirs. ;-)
I was there, it was a great concert even before Jimmy came on. I thought later that night that I would never see anything so good again, and 10 years on I still haven't.
You may not have realised it but if you’re familiar with Pink Floyd, you’ve heard Roy sing. He sang “Have a Cigar” on their “Wish You Were Here” album.
@@lindadote well then! I'll amend what I said, to that being the first time I knowingly heard him. Great vocal on Have a Cigar, I thought it was Roger Waters but it was Roy Harper. Hat's off!
So glad to have found this. I was there with an ex. Roy Harper was our bonding. We were together in the time of Stormcock (which had a profound effect on me) but lost contact, only to get in touch again by sheer chance many years later. Meeting up again to go to this concert was something very special. My ex died a few days ago. I was looking for something of Roy to listen to in his honour. I couldn’t have found anything better. Of course, something of Roy will be played at the funeral.
WTH. 'uncelebrated' Jimmy is literally considered top tier one of the greatest, IMO GOAT, guitarist of all time. He wrote the most iconic music in history. I mean, his influence on music is astounding. Every guitarist wanted to be him back in the day, probably still. Cool AF dude and smart AF, too. Nothing about Jimmy Page is un-celebrated.
Even With These many years, Jimmy Page does not lose his position, his magic, his feeling of amazing guitar play. Thanks for upload the video, I am speechless.
Death Wish II Soundtrack is classic. Not many musi cians could have written, composed, and produced such an interesting album. It has the Page signature quirky greatness to it. Prelude is one of my favorite songs.
Great soundtrack that he wrote, composed, produced, and played many of the instruments. Amazing musician and once in a lifetime talent. Great music lives on through the ages and Deathwish 2 while not exactly pop radio material is a wonderful display of Page's talents especially when considering he created it all himself to fit a particular movie and even got an album out of it. ElHombre is deaf.

yes! i know of that album! they did the song "hope" on that album, that was a gilmour instrumental offered to harper. great song! i would just love to see these guys do some music together again.
Wow this is amazing. They do it better than the original video, set in Wales where they are both playing old school Ovations in the mountains, and are so stoned it makes the viewer quite giddy. Jimmy page has obviously made a pact with Crowley or the devil or somebody anyway because he looks fucking amazing. I was there for the Led Zep. reunion, but I would have loved t have seen this. Roy Harper played "when an old Cricketer etc" at the folk awards the other night and I thought we was fantastic
Agreed - and to the 'how judgemental' comment - without qualitative assessment - as a reasoned combination of felt experience and a broad knowledge of the subject what do we have to discern anything? A relativistic plateau of mindless, slavish and soulless consumption? The music industry and who it exploits/pushes on the consumer are not very interesting compared to the experience of something unique and life enhancing and this is where a qualitative judgement becomes absolutely necessary. Hence the right and duty to call out 'lesser talents' as the music industry bottom line in the current climate. It does not mean some great talent does not slip through today (thank goodness) - but what real talent produces is often at odds with the 'business model' for more reasons than simply sales.
I'm fine with people enjoying themselves and lets face it Roy gives enough opportunity for fans to make themselves heard, but its too much when they carry on when he is singing. I'll look forward to see/hearing whatever you upload onto youtube after the next concert, I think everyone might be the last, lol
This is the fourth time I've heard someone say page is sloppy. I feel it's almost becoming trendy among guitarists to say it. Please think before you speak people
beemelonhead1- Yeah, he was only sloppy when he was addicted to heroin (77- 83, for those who didn't know). He's definitely a player with feel, but not overly sloppy.
Couldn't agree more....there is something about Jimmy that no other guitarist has.
Weaver Brown...or has ever had
There is only one Jimmy Page.
And thank you Universe for putting him and me on this planet at the same time!
Absolutely YES 💥🔥👍

One of my faves
Kieser Sozay My all time number one favorite song in life!
If I wore a hat... It would come off now.
I wish Jimmy would play live more often, instead of doing interviews about past times, he is such a virtuoso ✌🏻🎶🎸
Agree... .. can still ahead .. like Plant doing his ways... .. furthermore !
Hats off to (Jimmy) Page
