Hi I was at this gig sitting on the carpet with about 30 others. It came about because Roy Harper played the Beer Keller in Blackpool earlier in the year and some guys were heckling him. After a few exchanges he said Right Im stopping the gig and anyone who genuinely came to hear me I will promise you a gig elsewhere" and true to his word as he knew the owners of the St. Ives (he grew up in St. Annes) he did organuse a wee gig. However just after he started he said ive got a surpeise mate playing with me today and in wobbled Jimmy Page The gig was in a not very big lounge so it was like a private audience. I nearly didnt hear about but I was living in St. Annes at the time and somebody mentioned it. Unforgetable. Never knew anybody filmed it as it was only 1984. So today is first time I've seen this. Magic
What a privilege. I've often had dreams of having Jimmy play me just one song - just for me. I'd probably self-combust with joy, like a child seeing a unicorn.
As much as I love Jimmy and Zeppelin Roy didn’t actually need him up there really . Roy strumming and picking is about as good as it gets . Great footage.

Jimmy and Roy in their prime when mainstream music had already shunned these craftsmen in favour of talentless two chord plastic-pop. Mesmerising performance.
Nice to see this here, I remember them playing on The Old Grey Whistle Test together and it was nowhere near this good, so it was good to see this version.
#06/14/2023--Jimmy, I hope one day soon, everyone will realize you were a strong driving force behind The Beatles, as they were one of your many studio projects---
Great footage, great find. I remember the OGWT mountainside interview back in the day. I always wanted an Ovation, unique sound with the fibreglass bowl etc. Not sure if it's the sound quality of the day - although Harpers voice sounds okay - but the sound from the Ovations ain't great in places. Still a charming film, two fabulous musicians, craftsmen.
This is great. Wonderful it was filmed. Thanks for posting. This is more like what I was talking about in a previous post on the I'm Really Stoned promo. But that was in a marquee or outdoors (at a folk festival I guess). Echoing others: I wonder if the whole set was filmed.
It was The Cambridge folk festival and yes the who thing was filmed but the guy is holding out on release. Jimmy even tried to gain possession of the recording via his lawyers to no avail.
amazing duo jimmy and roy harper make i love this so much i would love their compositions not sure if they made more music together but i would love to hear them 💘
Thanks for posting this, it's great. I saw Roy many times around then and Roy and Jimmy at Cambridge but missed this one. Is there more video? Was it filmed by the same people who did "live in your living room" and "stonehenge"? How did you come across it?
Stormcock possibly the best solo album of all time? In my view. Abbey Road produced some of the best. I remember hearing Roy say, "EMI could have cared less about what we were doing in there at the time".

Ah, those wonderful small Roy Harper gigs in the '80's.. Never got to see him with Jimmy Page but shared a few J's with him.
Those post-Jugula gigs were great, must have seen him 10 times in a couple of years.
Love this. It represents so much. Harper's fine songwriting., Page's continued acknowledgement of it. Friendship. All the good things
