Do you have any information on regulating air pressure (externally regulated) for a 185 cfm set up?

Is there any particular blend or grit on the glass media that you recommend?

    Hello Again,
I bought a DB500- 210 portable blasting machine to do old cars plus my log home...What psi would you suggest for 40/70 glass?
Also, only dry, never wet like my machine can do?
    Thanks again,
    Steven

    hi there,
I've seen a lot of different info on the coverage(sq.ft.)of ground glass when blasting. I've read anywhere from 5-6 lbs per sq.ft.or a little less. What in your experience when blasting logs, is the coverage per pound? Thanks!

Just to be clear, you mean 2-3 square foot per POUND, not bag...right? 75-150 square feet of coverage for a 50 pound bag is what I've been reading about. What nozzle size and air pressure were you using in the movie with the crushed glass? Does the 50lb bag of 40-70 crushed glass typically last around 10-15 minutes?

Thank you for your fast response and information. I feel lucky to have your advice! This week I bought a 6 cubic foot capacity low profile blast pot with hose and 5/16" nozzle. I also bought an 85-87 IR 160cfm compressor with a little over 1000 hours on it! I'm going to hook everything up for the first time Sunday and try cleaning the thing out of the media in it since it was last used to clean septic pumping truck tanks.
I have two projects I want to use it on. One is refinishing a log home and the other a wood lap sided building. I am doing the lap siding first and the log home next year. The paint is in VERY bad shape so I think it will come off easy.
Media in Alaska is pretty expensive compared to the lower 48. Crushed glass is about 34 per 50lb bag and about 28-29 if I buy 50. Walnut around 44 in single quantity. I will try to catch sand used on the front and sides of the house to use on the south side of the building where 25-30% of the paint has already fallen off!
I got with the package a high pressure clemco respirator helmet but a low pressure pump without any of the filters. The pump looks new, even having the little plastic caps/plugs on the ports, but lacks the inlet filter and the outlet charcoal filter, pressure relief valve, connection, hose, etc. I can buy the parts to make it all work together for 500-600. I can also buy a new helmet and air conditioner for a around 1100 and the conditioner should be able to run both the helmet that it came with and the helmet I have.
Since the volume of glass will be so low do you think I could get away with a regular respirator used for painting and some goggles?
1/2" ID...that would be a lot of air! : ) Thanks for the clarification! Is that you in the video?

I used my imagination and thought of a few ways I could get injured with my respirator idea... I'm investing in the proper equipment now. : )
