Vortex, Wallflower, Teacher Teacher, Perennial, Mediator, Sit Stay Rollover…welcome to the magical world of Jinjer. Truly amazing artists and individuals.
My absolute favorite band since discovering them for the first time in 2018 and seeing them perform live later that same year! Great reaction, I've subscribed and can't wait to see more as you take a journey in Jinjer!
Welcome to Jinjer. The band and Tatiana shine in their live performances. I recommend "Who is Gonna be the One" (Live, Napalm Records) and "Perennial" live at Wacken for a follow up reaction. (Subbed)
Not a big fan of the Perennial performance just because it is the last song of the set and she is clearly gassed. JMO and don't get me wrong, Tatiana is still amazing in her performance, but Who is Gonna be the One is a better one. Her vocal one take of Judgement and Punishment is also amazing and better than the studio recording!
I discovered them watching reactions like yours and fell in love - not just with Tatiana, but the whole band and their nuanced, refreshing take on metal. Seen them live twice now and was blown away both times at how good they are on stage. Four extremely talented yet humble, hard-working, genuine human beings.
they and the rest of the band are not possessed by satan, in my opinion they belong to the best bands i've heard in the last decades!!!!!!!!!!!!! thank you for your emotional and professional reaction to a world class band: next example as almost always for Jinjer newbies: JINJER - Perennial (Live at Wacken Open Air 2019) | Napalm Records see you soon and warm greetings from a german musician > subbed!
Hello and good evening to you and Germany! 👋 I love knowing musicians sub to my channel (I play guitar and studied music engineering/production in my twenties) so thanks so much 🙏 You're the second person who has recommended Perennial in a matter of minutes, so I can predict a trend occurring here 😉 Glad you enjoyed the video and whilst people continue to watch and engage, there's definitely more to come from me. Cheers!
@@melvinthinks it would be nice to see you again with Jinjer, it's absolutely worth to spend some time with this band > promised!!!! I'm interested in this band since about 6 years...
Since you are a metal fan I'll suggest Jinjer Pit of Consciousness live in Kiev because it's one of their heavier songs and you'll get to see how low Tatiana can go
If you like the proggy aspect of this, listen to their track I Speak Astronomy. It has at least four time signatures (depending on how you break them down) and a mind-mangling riff in the two early verses.
As I understand you like heavy and proggy music. Thus you are lucky because you're just discovered one of the most progressive, versatile and technical bands in modern heavy metal. Note that Pisces is one of the less heavy track in Jinjer catalogue. And it's not too proggy in comparison to later Jinjer songs. Jinjer has very tight catalogue. It's not that kind of band which have a couple of bangers and other tracks that nobody cares about. Jinjer has a couple of dozens "must hear/see" bangers + another couple of dozens of solid songs. So each fan has his own top list. I think you'll be suggested a bunch of different Jinjer tracks. I like all kinds of guitar based music tbh with you as you might see from my channel and some of the videos I've published so far, but metal is my favourite genre 🤘 Thanks for the rec list - I've clearly got a lot to get through and catch up on! 😆
Dude, jinjer is probably my curre t favorite metal band. Enjoy the rabbit hole. My favorite video to watch is "whos gonna be the one", its a 180⁰ turn from Pisces though.
I don't mind what direction I go in - as long as it has their name on it 😀 I can understand why they'd be your favourite metal band - the comments I've read so far are full of praise and admiration. Cheers buddy! 🤟👍
Nice reaction thanks!! Jinjer is a fully rollercoaster ride once you hop in you will never want to hop off. You are hooked pal!! Bad news is after some of Jinjer's songs you probably won't find any other band to fill the space they opened. All 4 of them are incredible good and as much as you listen to them as much you love them. Welcome!! (subbed)
I highly recommend you check out their video of Perennial live at Wacken its their closing song and really shows how much power and control she has with her voice even at the end of the set.
Whichever song you want to go next, please check their live ones... this is one of the few bands that sound better in live concerts than in studio... my recommendation to see Tati's potential and extreme low growls is "Pit of Conciousness" Live in Kiev... it's amazing, and not only her, but the full band are genius at their craft...
A bunch of reactors fake surprise when she drops, I like that you take it in stride and groove to the whole thing. A very talented band, and Tatiana is the perfect fit for them.
Thanks Chad - I just try to be myself and genuine. No point in faking it because viewers (like yourself) are intelligent enough to spot when people are playing up to the camera. I think Jinjer are SMASHING and can't wait to listen to more.
Love your reaction! Welcome to the Jinjer rabbit hole! You are going to get tons of recommendations, you can't go wrong with any of their songs! Enjoy!
You have to see them on stage so Who is gonna be the one live Napalm records is an open air daytime performance and Pit of Consciousness live Kiev is from 2019 in their home country Ukraine both heavier than Pisces imo
If you want the music mashup style, you want to listen to "Teacher, Teacher" If you want more of the juxtaposition of the singing styles, you want "Perennial (live @ Wacken)" or "I Speak Astronomy" If you want more traditional metalcore style you're looking at their older stuff, try "Who is Gonna be the One (live)" or "Just Another" If you want proggy, try "Vortex" If you want fusion, try "Judgment (and Punishment)" Honestly they have so many styles it's hard to label them.
This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Jinjer. Their first album has a bit of a metalcore vibe, so that's part of the reason for that label. They've always had progressive elements to their sound though and have embraced it more going forward. I'd recommend Sit Stay Rollover live in Melbourne to see how amazing they are in concert.
I'd personally classify them more as progressive metal vs metalcore on the basis of that track, but tbh I don't care what they get labelled as, because they absolutely kick ass!!! I definitely think a gig/live track is next on my Jinjer 'To Do' list, so I can experience how they perform with a live audience. Thanks for the rec - cheers! 👍
They are from Donetsk, in eastern Ukraine, where the fighting started in 2014. Tatiana is mostly self taught. Otep and Randy Blythe are her biggest harsh influences, and Gwen Stefani a big influence on cleans. The harsh vocals , she uses the false vocal folds, and not the vocal chords themselves. Glad you noticed Vlad on drums, this live session was done to showcase him, as he had joined not long before this. He is classically trained on piano, and self taught on drums. He, Roman (guitar), and Eugene (bass), are all awesome musicians. They do often switch genres within a song. The guys write the music and Tati writes most of the lyrics. Eugene helped with lyrics on this song, as both he and Tati are Pisces. The usual next step is to see her live. Either Perennial at Wacken 2019, or Pit of Consciousness live in Kiev. Others to check out, Teacher Teacher, Homeback, Vortex, and Judgement( and Punishment) vocal one take.
If you,ve red all the other comments you know what to listen to next so i don,t have to tell you. Mind you Just realize that this is one of their older songs and that they only have progressed in quality so you are in for a treet when you get to the latest album called wallflower. Enjoy!
"Conceived in the anus of hell" lololol that's a new one. I'd echo any of the other suggestions, especially for concert videos, and most especially Perennial at Wacken and Who Is Gonna Be The One official live. Pit Of Consciousness is epic but it's a perfect storm that's so good nothing else can outdo it and there's plenty of amazing stuff that will drop your jaw along the way there if you put it off. I'd add the OMVs I Speak Astronomy (a love song with some metal growls heh) and Home Back about their experiences when their hometown in eastern Ukraine was caught in the 2014 war. Subbed. Cheers!
The truth is, there isn't a bad song by these guys, their earlier stuff was heavier and they all have used time to perfect their sound. Very talented and churning out solid compositions. 🤘
Jinjer: Who's Gonna Be The One Live, I speak Astronomy official, Sit Stay Roll Over to see the track that got them the record deal with Napalm. Many more after that too.
Tatiana is one of the best extant growlers regardless of gender. The growls are thick and full, she can get deeper than like 95% of guys (Home Back...) and the diction is very good. And she can pull it off live. And let's not get into now many different clean singing genres she can perform at high level.
@@melvinthinks : And this an old, simple and boring song. The reason it's often recommended is the shock value because the whole song starts really soft until the first growls and because this has something resembling a traditional song structure. For people already versed in metal music it's not *that* interesting. Head to Teacher Teacher next, the official video is best. Or Perennial live at Wacken. Or Vortex official video. Or the said Home Back. Or... There's lot to discover there.
As a guitarist I naturally focus on the guitar parts, but all round I thought the instrumentation was superb. From what I've read in the comments, all of their tracks are gonna be smashing and something I'm definitely looking forward to.
Very insightful take, and your energy and excitement were incredibly appropriate to the quality of the art. I was only introduced to the band a few months ago, and I have dropped mad cash to go see them on 9 August. A friend going with me has zero knowledge of what he’s going to see. The last show he attended was Dead and Company. For reference, we are 53 and 55 years old.
Thank you so much for the kind words 🙏😀👍 Your friends tongue will likely hit the floor when they witness Jinjer live! I've had several recommendations to do a video on some of their live versions of songs - but the fact you will get to witness them in the flesh I am super jealous 😜
Great reaction, Melvin! Even though Tatiana is Tatiana of course, there is a "hidden" French vocalist, Aure, who sings in the quite "unknown" band called Akiavel. Cheers John and I'm really looking forward to doing some more of their videos too. Perennial seems to be getting quite a few mentions in the comments, so watch this space 👍
I love when experienced metalheads get exposed to Jinjer and Tati. They know just how tight the band is and how extraordinary her vocals are... that low, that gnarly, and that clear... from that itty bitty sprite? Amazing.
Great! Here is a real video with a real reaction. Usually in such videos they sit and repeat boringly: I'm in shock, I'm in shock... - and why, they can't really explain. Dude, you're cool, keep going!..
Thanks dude! 😁 It seems so long ago when I made this video. Even now, whenever I hear this song, I lose my shit! hahaha. Awesome band. One of my favourite discoveries on this channel by far.
Great reaction! You're my new favorite reactor! When you used the word "stonking" I realized what I like most--your reactions remind me a bit of watching Top Gear or The Grand Tour--but for metal! I'm a Yank, but I'm yobbo for Top Gear! I suppose your reaction style reminds me most of Richard Hammond--apologies if you're not height-challenged. You got it right in one--and yes, Tatiana and Courtney are the top tier of harsh metal vocalists, regardless of gender. Jinjer quickly became my favorite band when I discovered them a year ago. You reacted the same way I did. Enjoy the ride!
Long time no speak 😜 Favourite reactor? Shit! That's added pressure for me now 🤣😂🤣 I'm similar to you in that every track I've heard so far has blown my balls off! They remind me of so many different bands - Gojira, Tool, Mastodon, Dillinger Escape Plan, Lamb Of God. I could go on. I won't though. I really hope they play some shows in the UK next year. I'd love a sweaty little venue like you say, but even if they hit one of the festivals it'd be super cool to see them in action.
Tatiana converted me from merely tolerating growling to actively enjoying it. She (and a few others) do it so well. The majority of extreme vocalists just don't sound good. Tatiana has been called "a colossus among metal vocalists" and I agree wholeheartedly. Eugene (bassist) sometimes denies that they are even a metal band. He's being funny but he strongly feels that categorisation and pigeon-holing only serve to limit creativity. I think of them as progressive groove metal, prog melodeath or sometimes just as the heaviest jazz band on the planet.
Nice reaction. I totally agree with your Opeth-comment, they have the same kind of technical guitar and drum style. Love Opeth ❤ have you heard Ghost of perdition live at Red Rocks? (About to say "ofcourse you have" while i write this...oh well) greetings from Norway 😊
Thanks for the kind words and no I haven't. Yet 😉 I think I got slated by one person in the comments for the Opeth statement, so thanks to you, it's now 1-1 🤣 👍
I see a Deftones tshirt, I know you'll love this band. Musically complex and it's own unique intensity just like Deftones. Jinjer are Jinjer, and not really in a single genre, like Deftones. Also happen to be two of my all time favourite bands. Honestly mate, enjoy every second of it, this is basic/tame Jinjer.
i see you like deftones. if you want a modern-day heavier deftones, i recommend checking out the band "loathe". their song "new faces in the dark" is my personal favourite, and will show you what they (usually) sound like. and, if you want more jinjer, i recommend the music video for their song "ape". it's probably my favourite by them - it's chaotic and proggy, but it has an insane groove with an earth-crushing ending.

Haha! Cheers Dave. The track gets better with each listen. Bring on the rabbit hole!
🤘🇺🇦🤘
😀
Tatiana converted me from merely tolerating growling to actively enjoying it. She (and a few others) do it so well. The majority of extreme vocalists just don't sound good. Tatiana has been called "a colossus among metal vocalists" and I agree wholeheartedly.
Eugene (bassist) sometimes denies that they are even a metal band. He's being funny but he strongly feels that categorisation and pigeon-holing only serve to limit creativity.
I think of them as progressive groove metal, prog melodeath or sometimes just as the heaviest jazz band on the planet.
"Prog melodeath" and "heavist jazz band on the planet" - love it! 🤣👍🤟
Pit of conciousness live in Kiev is special, though
Cheers!
Yet 😉 I think I got slated by one person in the comments for the Opeth statement, so thanks to you, it's now 1-1 🤣 👍
@@melvinthinks people hear different things when they listen to music i guess, so... 😉
💯
I see a Deftones tshirt, I know you'll love this band. Musically complex and it's own unique intensity just like Deftones. Jinjer are Jinjer, and not really in a single genre, like Deftones.
Also happen to be two of my all time favourite bands. Honestly mate, enjoy every second of it, this is basic/tame Jinjer.
If that was tame then I better put my crash helmet on for the next video! 😉
i see you like deftones. if you want a modern-day heavier deftones, i recommend checking out the band "loathe". their song "new faces in the dark" is my personal favourite, and will show you what they (usually) sound like.
and, if you want more jinjer, i recommend the music video for their song "ape". it's probably my favourite by them - it's chaotic and proggy, but it has an insane groove with an earth-crushing ending.
Ooooh - I'm intrigued. I love an earth crushing ending. In music, of course. As opposed the apocalypse! 😜
Hehehehehehehehehe 😄🤘
I remember this reaction so well and the feeling was sensational!
@@melvinthinks I looooove watching reactions to this 😄
You know she was the kid at school who could belch the entire alphabet
And probably the kid at school where the teacher said "You will amount to nothing by doing that!" 😁
@@melvinthinks there is always that teacher who is soooo wrong. My art teacher said I did not have an artistic bone in my body. I've working in special effects, animation and now teach a class called "animation and game design" at the same school I went to lol
Maybe they say these things to spur us on, so we try and prove a point? 😜 That sounds like a real cool job. If you are going to teach, at least let it be something you are passionate about. Fair play to you 👍
I might start teaching beer drinking 🤣
Yes !!!! BONEBREAKER LIVE IN MOSCOW 🤘💪💪
Nice! One I've not been recommended yet 😊
Consider yourself, after this awesome band, dig in a bit the Japanese Metal rabit hole.
That's next on my list 🙂
FAKE
Excuse me? Fake...??? I'll have you know it's ALL my own beard hair. 😭
