  • So here we are guys first Airshow of the year and an awesome line up it was, first thing was the Jet Provost T.3, a rare thing to see nowadays. The Draken was far better this year being a full ten minute display and using lots of burner, was awesome to see. The highlight though was the truly fantastic, Ref Bull Douglas DC-6B, I've always wanted to see this and what a display. Showing off the aircraft to the limit, nearly rolling this 66 year old veteran. It was used JAT a Yugoslavian airline, before going to Premier Marshall Josip Broz Tito ordered it for a luxury model for himself and his celebrity guests, it was then sold in 1975 to Zambia's head of state Kenneth Kaunda, she was eventually left outside Lusaka airport. Chris found the two Dc-6's including "Delta, Mike" and tried to take both of them but, Angolan border intervened and Schutte was forced to sell it and the Flying Bulls stepped in and here she is. This the first and only so far DC-6B to ever be on Austrian register. Anyway, such a rare sight to see anywhere outside of Austria. They also brought their B-25 which was also a fantastic sight and sound, they were also supposed to bring their P-38 but, bad weather put pay to that as well as the CL-13B Sabre, but that was replaced by another highlight the Folland Gnat T.1 which is another rare sight to see. All in a fantastic show with lovely weather and a great line up, MAF is becoming one of the best show's in the UK.
I hope you enjoy, like comment and subscribe for more aviation content
