Even before I watch this video, I have to say I own both bottles and I enjoy both whiskies. IMHO... The very light peat I get in the Bunnahabhain gives it a slight edge in depth and complexity. I applaud the self-confidence MB has picked up over the past few months in expressing her opinions during these reviews. She knows what she likes..! Cheers
Thanks! I am starting to figure out what I like and what I don’t. However, I’m guessing that’s going to change over time. So I guess I can say, I know what I like in this moment in time. And I can say for certain, it’s not peat!! 😂Let’s see where I’m at a year from now! Cheers!
Right before we shot the video she said she liked the way bottle battle sounded over battle of the bottles. So I said go for it and call it that. It didn't go so well. Words are hard sometimes.
Love the videos with both of you. I agree with another comment complimenting MB on really expressing herself on what she tastes, smells and likes. Great “Battle Bottle” - MB 2024.
Thanks! I’ve come a long way, but still have a long way to go. It’s been a fun experience and am looking forward to seeing how my taste will change over time. Maybe next year I will be drinking peated whiskey by choice!! 😂Cheers!
Great head to head review of an even age of two great bottles. I've gone through a couple of bottles of Glenallachie 12 and a bottle of Bunna 12 in the last 24 months or so and I find they both are great depending on the day and your mood situation. I will take either one any day with a slight edge to Bunna 12.
That was a great review, thank you so much. Would you consider doing a non even blind tasting, for instance Glenfiddich against Hazelburn, or something like that, to see if the hype difference is worth it?
Bunnahabhain 12 is an absolute staple in our household. We like Scotch of all kinds from all regions, but this one is smooth, balanced, interesting, and glorious every time.
This video was so long I had to cut it at some point. We talked a lot and I think I cut out at least 20-30 min of footage. We sit in front of the camera and drink and shot the shit. It's fun but it's a pain to edit because we talk so much and forget about the camera.
I did this comparison, Bunna 12 wins every time, and I like the GlenAllachie 12. The bunna viscosity and the salty note hidden in there (plus a much longer finish) just takes it home. Bunnahabhain 12 is one of the best non CS 12 year olds easily (up there with the Edradour Caledonia).
If you are a Skrewball fan, give it a try. It’s also great with Redwood Empire. Not sure which version of it though. I only know that the bottle looks like.
@@mary-bridgetfasciano9970hey there MB. So with the Screwball what is the ratio of screwball to the other juice. I’ve got a couple of Bourbons and a scotch I’m hoping this can help me fix.
Outstanding video. Thank you. More, please.
More to come! Cheers!
Thanks! Love the battle format.
Best of luck! You are in for 2 in July.
Blind tasting always an eye opener.
This was an eye opener for sure. Definitely thought it was Irish. 😕

I agree. She knows what she likes and her palate gets more developed every time we do these episodes.

Battle bottle!!! Had to replay that multiple times 😂

Awesome reveal guys!!
Thanks Wade. I was shocked they weren't Irish.
Was waiting for you to pull down the Glenallachie 12 and Green Spot bottles and try the side by side there at the end:(
We probably should have done that. We have a video coming out tomorrow Redbreast 12 and Yellow Spot 12.
Love the videos with both of you. I agree with another comment complimenting MB on really expressing herself on what she tastes, smells and likes.
Great “Battle Bottle” - MB 2024.
She is doing a fantastic job with her palate development. I also like it that it's different then mine.
Thanks! I’ve come a long way, but still have a long way to go. It’s been a fun experience and am looking forward to seeing how my taste will change over time. Maybe next year I will be drinking peated whiskey by choice!! 😂Cheers!
I like both of these. I've never had them together all these years.
Sounds like you will in the near future?
@@whiskeyisajourney our liquor stores are on strike. So... nope.

I'm a big bunna fan and this video confirms that even though I thought it was an Irish whiskey. 🤪
LOL, I figured you would have pick out the Buna 12.. I never picked out a sulfur note...will try some tonight!
I have never gotten the sulfur note until this video. It has always been very sherry forward for me. It was interesting I got the sulfur. 🤔

I can do that! I'll throw that exact matchup in my blind samples. Cheers!
Anyone not able to tell a Glenfiddich from a Hazelburn shouldn't be allowed to drink anything better than a Black Label.
I l-o-v-e this series with Sis, blind and fresh comments.
Good to know. I have another one coming up Friday. Stay tuned. Cheers!
Two entries for the June giveaway please.
You are in for 2 each month June and July. Again... best of luck!

It will always be on my shelf as well. Cheers!
I definitely thought you were going to grab the Green Spot to compare it for her.

It was my whisky of the year. It's a good one for sure.
If MB bought the bottles she could do whatever she wants with them. Green spot and Screw ball I would never think of mixing
She loves the combination. Cheers!

It's possible that batch of Bunnnahabain 12 is defective, you're not the first to get that sulphurous smell recently
I don't think the amount of sulfur I'm getting is enough to say it's defective. The note is there enough to notice, but not overwhelming.
At times I get a faint hint of smoke on the nose with the Bunna 12. To me, its flavors are a bit more complex and darker than the Glenallachie 12.
I agree. The bunna is more complex for me. This was a fun one and an eye opener. Cheers!
Two entries for the July giveaway please.
Got you for 2. Good luck.
