Interesting to hear about you wintering in your RV. We'll soon be living on a sailboat - I'd guess that the 2 probably have some similar characteristics regarding being mobile and limited interior space. If you'd like to see what we're up to you can see our videos over at ua-cam.com/users/Sailboatstory.
    Keep up the good videos.

+Sailboat Story Thanks! Yes, I've done both and the two are quite similar in a lot of respects.

Couldn't help but notice that high powered rifle. One of the basic neccesities when living in your RV.

My wife and I are both retired.I am 65 and shes 70.We have a 2016 Dodge Caravan converted to a camper van and we live in the Toronto area.We are thinking of spending a winter in Vancouver island just to try out the lifestyle. We can do stealth camping or staying in an RV park depending on weather. This RV park you are in,what are their rates?Better still can you give me their website or contact phone number? We thought of doing it in Florida as it is closer but the exchange rate will kill us and the expense to buy extra insurance to beef up our provincial health plan (OHIP) will be astronomical.Vancouver island is still Canada.

The RV park I was staying at (Westbay) closed down on March 15th. It will probably reopen again under new management but I have no idea what the rates will be like and when it will reopen. I strongly suggest that you sample each of the parks on the island for a few days and figure out which one will suit you guys. If you're retired why not take your time and explore? For comfort and sanity I strongly recommend staying at an RV park with amenities for the off season months, particularly from November to April. Most RV parks offer monthly off season rates. The only other parks I can kind of recommend would be Weir's Beach and Oceanside: both are beautiful and their off season rates aren't too bad being between $600-$1000 monthly with all the hookups.
I envy you driving out. I had the time of my life driving out here from London Ont. For the most part I took the Northern Yellowhead route. If you leave Ont. in mid/late Sept. it'd be ideal as most of the interesting attractions will still be running, but the bulk of the tourist traffic will be done.

I am buying Gold and Silver mines and 50 K of TFSA and RRSP silver SPROTT NOTES ----> RBC

+BRUCE LEE As a rule I never invest in managed funds. I'd much rather invest in the firm managing the funds. At this time I'm staying away from US and Canadian mineral processing companies.

Van Isle Gunnut I'll see you on the Isle in 2018 buddy. You might be right about Gold and Silver because of 2011.
I manage my own funds and I am buying 50 K of Silver today in Sprott notes for the TFSA and RRSP.
This is the bottom of that market by a buck 30 in Silver. If it doesn't move in 5 years I just cash out.
My brother's are Masters of Economics and one brother that takes pro advice was of.......ff= 20......... but the other brother is like an Autistic genius on steroids and has called everything and bank interest rates since 1980.He say's SILVER is were the money will be.

+BRUCE LEE Ok, just for the sake of playing devil's advocate. (and remember you started this!) Short and sweet, here's my thoughts: Is silver a good bet? Yes, I think so. Lots of uses from industrial to it's aesthetic beauty. Good thing to have long term. Younger investors entering the market are not so impressed with gold as we might be. So silver it is. Sounds like you have a good source of advice; I'd be abusing that source rather than paying service fees.
Are you really buying silver? Nope. Get past the rhetoric and you're investing in a manged mutual fund with a yearly management fee and a monthly service fee. The idea of managing you're own investments is to avoid the management fees which in my opinion are a huge ripoff. Why not go directly to silver bullion? No investment firm would ever recommend it, yet they claim silver is the next great thing. Why is that?
I took a quick look: Sprott is listed in the TSX as SII and is currently going for $1.97 per share with a yearly dividend of $.12 which is interesting. Ask your brothers what they think of them? How healthy is this company really?
If you come to the island I'll introduce you to Scrimshaw, a fine beverage that I haven't seen anywhere else in Canada.

      Van Isle Gunnut
I bought my mom mines in 2009 and 50 K of Sprott Gold.
My smart brothers goal is to load up the rrsps with Silver and on RRSP spousal with the other 20 K.
Sprott is solid but physical is available from the Bank of montreal investing side. You vcan buy the silver and put it in your TFSA and RRSP and brinks will guard your silver.
You will ___PAY___ a storge fee......I didn't want to do the paperwork through Montreal.
LOOK, if silver stays here for 5 years you cash it out.The downside is $14.00 bucks due to mining costs. How do you lose or you can ride to TSX to 8,0000 ....LOl....My brother has said RUN !!! FOR YEARS.
I bought 13 K of silver with receipts in 2009 and rode that from 33.00 to 52.00 but you need the receipt to bring it back to Scotia. Also they will tax you badly if you buy physical........THE RICH DON'^T USE TFSA'S FOR 2% interest this loophole is for SILVER tax free.
I hope I helped ? I will go shooting with you when I get my AA -12 shotgun.....20 rounds should help ????

How does it work with your PAL for your "dwelling house"?

    • @ScaredStupid
      @ScaredStupid  8 років тому

+rickyboyz100 I"m not sure what you're asking? For banking, licencing etc. you have to use a valid street address so I use a family member's in town. If you're asking about restricted firearms you can't so it's one the things you give up when living in either an RV or a boat, both of which I have done. For the most part my firearms (non restricted) and ammunition stay locked up elsewhere until I have time off work to go plink.
