Exactly. After over 20 years and trillions of dollars, you have to realize you can’t build gold out of mud. How much more lives and dollars have to be sacrificed for a country that refuses to civilize or save itself? Afghanistan has been hell since Alexander the Great and will continue to be long after we’re gone. The only tragedy is we made them hope it could be different.

He literal saved his life. We had a big concentration of Armed forces in the Capital and Taliban could have never been able to capture the capital if it was managed and we had a leader.
@Ali Cheema most of the country is rocks and sand, and fortunately for the Taliban, rocks and sand does not fight back. The capital, on the other hand, had a military presence, that could fight back.
@Ali Cheema what you’re saying is totally irrelevant. First, I said “most” of the country is rocks and sand, not all of it. Second, we were referring to the capital, not other cities. Lastly, I’m not an American, so that remark makes no sense. And even if I was, that wouldn’t change anything about the topic we are discussing here. I guess you’re only trying to avoid the topic. Nevertheless, how the Afghani government’s reaction was shameful, whether or not you liked them or not, the act is still a symbol of cowardice, and that's something we all can agree on.
@Ali Cheema not yet, but I'm guessing what you are about to say is that because NATO was involved in Afghanistan, it means that NATO was defeated? Well, then I guess we can include all nations that were included in the coalition forces in Afghanistan against the Taliban. It's more or less the whole world, but ill only point out a fraction of them: Jordan, Turkey, UAE, Azerbaijan, and last but not least, Afghanistan itself. Afghani fought long and hard against the extremism of the Taliban. And they lost huge numbers of soldiers, the most victims of Taliban are Afghanis themselves. Where are you from? Maybe you didn't know that your country probably fought against the Taliban and/or helped the US/NATO/Afghanistan.
@Ali Cheema but he/they didn’t save the capital. He loaded his helicopter full of cash and fled the city. Whatever it looks like, it definitely reminds one of cowardice. I don't see why you won't admit this? Most people interpreted it as cowardice. But maybe he had a good reason to flee, but that is beside the point.
"First time running is heroic", good one. He told the boys in his army to fight till the last man, while he took all the money in the country and ran away.
As an American, I find these interviews extremely rude. I get you want the answers, but let people talk. The Afghan guy kept his cool with all the interruptions.
the "and in english" was particularly rude. does your "as an american" imply that american interviewers interrupt people less? Do you think it could be related to your channels having a clear political affiliation therefore more of their guests have free reins of the microphone?
As an American who spent the last 7 years in AF, this is 100x the respect he deserves. He shouldn’t be on the air for any reason. This interview isn’t for the people it’s to argue his virtues so he can go get contracts and business. 🤷🏼♀️
As an Englishman, I find that most interviews in American media are vacuous, facile, shallow, fail miserably to confront stark untruths, all whilst adding nothing but partisan noise to most issues. Perhaps the USA could do with a little more direct enquiry and fundamental honesty in its media…..and a lot less pearl clutching from its elected officials when confronted with tricky questions over the levels of honour decency and integrity in public life. That might reveal some unpalatable truths though so I’ll not bother holding my breath. I’ve got to say, it’s startling to us when you guys get all worked up about straight verbal communication that aims to extract truth in an interview, but won’t take your heads far enough out of your respective partisan sandpits to see that the USA has become a worldwide euphemism for dishonesty in both government and media. Go figure, as you like to say.
As D-10 DPS officer who was supply security for Mohib, I will not always forgive myself and becuase of my affiliation with Ghani and Mohib and other officials I can't live in Afghanistan.
It's good that you are out for now... better not to be there, under the Taliban. But perhaps you can try & do something to help the resistance movement (there is a resistance movement, right?). 🤔 The situation isn't permanently over (I hope) - and the political climate over there may be vastly different 5 years from now. More and more people might want to rebel... Truth be told, the situation was/is just different in Afghanistan, culturally. Even if you personally would've tried harder, you would've needed *a lot* more people go do the same, in order to make a difference...
Afghanistan was an exercise in futility and a horrendous waste of resources for the US, with billions of dollars in armaments, training, heavy weaponry, and aircraft abandoned by the Afghan military and confiscated by the Taliban. The old leadership and bureaucracy of the civil administration and the armed forces in Afghanistan were corrupt to the core. On the other hand, the arms supplied to Ukraine were used productively, inflicting exceptionally high casualties on the invading Russian forces despite their technological and numerical advantage. Afghanistan is going hungry with a hollow economy under the totalitarian and harsh leadership of the Taliban with the subjugation of half its population comprising women. Ukraine was a prosperous nation until the envious and brutal Putin decided to grab its land and sea with economic, political, and expansionist motives. Ukraine will not roll over and play dead, but will continue to fight for its freedom and resurgence.

Actually, this person himself was extremely biased and discriminatory against any person apart from his own tribe, Pushtons. At the time, when he was in power, he would have given a province to the Taliban, rather, have a Hazara, Tajik or Uzbek (Non-pushtons) bring home the victory or gain prominence and power within the government. His administration fired countless of capable people from the position of power only because they were not Pushtons. So, how could he talk about being cohesive. Not only he , Ghani, Afzal and people like him, didn't work on bringing the people close, but rather they consciously made made efforts to divide the people of Afghanistan. Can you believe it that from Hazara people, the third largest ethnic group km Afghanistan, there was not even a single , a single person in the position of power in Ministry of Defense in Afghanistan? While, if there is any person who would actually want to fight against the Taliban tooth and nail, it would be Non-pushtons because the Taliban are also Pushtons so the Pushtons in the government are not as motivated to fight against their own tribe mates. Believe me I am an Afghan
I am sorry about the situation in your country... and I believe you, all you said seems pretty reasonable. The Hazara suffered especially much bc of the Taliban, from what I know.. But are you ok, have u made it out? Or were you able to get ur family out?
It all come down to how well you believe in what you stand by, on both side. One was only going to hold so long as support and resources kept coming, and all know which side that was. And for the other, it was always going to be a fight for the generations to come.

Blaming the US and everybody else except yourself for the fall of Afghanistan is quite far out there given the fact that the Afghans themselves didn't even fight to try and preserve the state.
It amazes me that a people would chose ignorant superstition over rational thought. But never underestimate the depth of ignorance of the Afghani people. Read James Mitchners book on traveling thru Afghanistan and meeting the royal family although educated the family had no one to talk to in Afghanistan. The royal family complained bitterly to Mitchner that the people chose to stay ignorant and the family was helpless to change things.

The UN can give the contract to rebuild Afghanistan to India and you can see the improvement within 5 years. Taliban army will be incorporated into a new Afghan army. All weapons will be taken over by the Indian army. India had constructed some of the infrastructure for Afghanistan and it can do the rest. India can negotiate with Iran, Tajikistan, Russia to reconstruct Afghanistan if Pakistan can be neutralized by the UN and the IMF. This is the only way a new Afghanistan can be constructed. Afghanistan used to be a part of India before it was taken over by the Arab in the 7th century and the country was destroyed. India can reconstruct Afghanistan.

What a stupid comment! The western countries only do support Ukraine to fight Russia indirectly! And the next point is that Ukraine gets so much support because they have blond hair and blue eyes so for racist people like you their lives are more worth than the lifes of afghan people! Shame on you.
@@Onthercks07 What the hell you're talking about? USA is an occupying power in Afghanistan not a little angel. it was there to steal resources not build a strong afghanistan. Ukrainians are nothing in comparison, when afan fights they do fight that's why they defeated the british empire, the soviet union, the USA.
Let the dude finish his sentence before asking the next question, please.
It’s an interview not a propaganda piece. When he spews BS he should be interrupted.
Simply saying, he's just a coward. You have to respect people born like that.
It's more or less the whole world, but ill only point out a fraction of them:
Jordan, Turkey, UAE, Azerbaijan, and last but not least, Afghanistan itself.
True...
"First time running is heroic", good one. He told the boys in his army to fight till the last man, while he took all the money in the country and ran away.
Just give back the millions you’ve stolen from Afghanistan, That’s a real apology.
Fuck America
This guy and his 'president' disgust us Afgans
he can go back to afghanistan and fix his mistakes
Shameless
Traitors never get the respect they so long-for. The host is battering him.
The situation isn't permanently over (I hope) - and the political climate over there may be vastly different 5 years from now. More and more people might want to rebel...
Truth be told, the situation was/is just different in Afghanistan, culturally. Even if you personally would've tried harder, you would've needed *a lot* more people go do the same, in order to make a difference...
@@dyawr resistance???🤣🤣🤣🤣
Why Did u Invade Afghanstan?
@@aftech2148 Afghanistan is a very nice place to invade. I'll have invaded Afghanistan if I'm a President.

The difference between the Afghan and the Ukrainian responses to aggression is stunning.
You will never be forgiven.
Americans lecturing everybody but everybody knew that Afghans were falling. They just ran away without accountability but Afghans were equally to blame.

This reporter is absolutely relentless.
The host should let him finish speaking.
It all come down to how well you believe in what you stand by, on both side. One was only going to hold so long as support and resources kept coming, and all know which side that was. And for the other, it was always going to be a fight for the generations to come.
We gave them ample training and lots of weapons so that they could defend themselves, all gone now
Dependecy always fails a state. Democracy is not free at all.
Now It’s too late to apologise from the whole Afghan nations. Why don’t you go and fight against Taliban?
bit too much interruption from reporter
The Afghan guest in his freshly pressed suit and manicured beard got out OK and is now in London instead of in Kabul. He secured his escape looong ago before the fall leaving his country and fled to the welcoming arms of the West. Good for you sir.

Myeah... I hope that last bit was just cynical.
This Man looks so good but has no balls to save his people and country.
Americanised Afghan.
I am all about adversarial press but this reporter was downright hostile. I have no respect for this Afghan official who abandoned his country, but being bullied into apologizing in English as he speaking to the people in Afghanistan seemed very out of sorts.
Yeah I found it ridiculous
What a waste of time, he should be questioned in court rather….!
Which court ?
American court ? Or the Taliban court ?
They were corrupt as hell... Respect for apologising
Blaming the US and everybody else except yourself for the fall of Afghanistan is quite far out there given the fact that the Afghans themselves didn't even fight to try and preserve the state.
We are agree with your disicision of saving the capital and the life of people of Afghanistan
Traitor
He talks about running away to save the people from conflict? LOL! What about the the daily conflict the Afghan people face now under the Taliban ? This man is fooling himself only.
Thank you.

Afghans are not like the Ukrainians, they are more like French and Italians.
British intelligence report: The US is sending naked woman painted with Ukrainian flag to the red carpet.😂😂
Apologizing now is not going to change the country for the better.
70,000 casualties in the last war is definitely false because there were really no fighting. The Afghan military just melted away.
Everyone in politics in every country do the same and apologize or write books after the fact.
"Brave Sir Robin,
ran away,
ran away away"
Afghanistan now has the government it deserves. Enjoy.
This is EXACTLY why legacy media is no more relevant. Give platform to anybody, assuming it is good for rating.
The question wasn't about comparison or contrast between Afghan and Ukrainian nations , it was simply about the contrast between you guys and Zelensky!!
If the Ukrainian army would of collapse in the first day probably zelensky would of fled.
Is he so ignorant or trying to be an ignorant? For defending the post he was at, he is speaking just rubbish . One question why did you run from afghanistan ? If you were loyal you must have been their till the end like Abdullah Abdullah.
He helped his own brothers. They always praised taliban as their own. I don’t blame them.
Could you please ask Biden and Trump to also apologize, since the responsibilities are shared between the former Afghan government and the US administrations? 🙂
He still does not understand the mood of the people at that time. Nice jacket.

I don't trust the word this guy is saying.
