    I always love when I have no idea how I got ink on a finger or two. Good tips, thanks!

      A few weeks ago, I got some dark (blood) red ink on a thumb without realizing it. Gave myself quite a start a few hours later when I finally noticed it and thought I was bleeding out for some reason.

    An improvement on the ink syringe method, take the nib and feed out. The needle fits down the ink feed and into the ink chamber.

    This is so timely! My first TWSBI Go is on its way to me from the Goulet Pen Co., and I had forgotten all about this Q&A segment. I was thinking I would need to limit its use to bottled inks. This video is very helpful. Thanks!!

      @@Tjikkko yeah it was a good pen. Holds a ton of ink, wrote good and felt good. No issues except the EF nib being a little thicker than I wanted.

    Nice tip. I use Dawn dish detergent to get the ink off my hands. If I'm quick I can also get most of the ink off with antimicrobial hand sanitizer. It's alcohol. If those don't do the trick a pumice stone will work wonders.

    These videos are so great -- you are doing such a service to hobbyists. And it's a great sales tool as well -- it's a no-brainer to go buy a GO from Goulet now!

    Ahah! I got a TWSBI Eco first, and had no trouble filling it from sample vials, so I was so confused when I couldn't manage to get the Go to fill at all. Now I know--and also I'll want a proper bottle for this once I'm done with the sample. Filling via syringe looks even messier than the amount of ink I get on my fingers with normal methods for these.

    I also do it that way. So far i have no problem filling it from the vial, except, when the ink level is low. At some point i try filling it from the back by using eyedropper, and it was a BAD idea. Because the air is not trapped (?) Because the plug is open, the ink is dripping non stop from the nib. It's a mess everywhere. Lesson learned : fill a pen like how it should be. A bad hack will be a nightmare.

    I 3DPrinted a sample holder "Dock" for my samples after I spilled half of my insanely hard to buy (in Iran) emerald of chivor. I'm sure it was the only sample of it's kind here xD
    There's only this one person who sells samples of a few fancy inks.
    I can't wait till I move out and then I'll buy so many from this website xD

    Not sure how to go about asking a question, I don't do social media, so I'll try here:
    I have a bottle of ink in the process of shipping, and the polar vortex is turning North America into Hoth. Some inks are resistant to freezing, but this one is not. Should I be at all worried about ink freezing solid and being damaged in that process, or even expanding while frozen and bursting the glass bottle?

    • @Gouletpens
      @Gouletpens  5 років тому +1

      I wouldn't worry too much. We put 'do not freeze' stickers on our boxes so at the discretion of the post office, they can hold them until warmer temps (or arrange a pickup). Glass bottles could burst, but if it just freezes, once it thaws it'll still write just fine! - Colin

    Hey there, I have a doubt. Is the pilot metropolitan medium a little less scratchy than the fine job one?
    And I am a student and fell in for fountain pens for sometime. I heard that these kind of pens reduces writing speed, which is obviously not desired while taking notes. But I didn't feel much difference though. Well is it true?
    B.T.W. love your channel. Thnx

    • @Gouletpens
      @Gouletpens  5 років тому +2

      The medium should feel less scratchy because it has more surface area touching the paper! In general, Pilot has great ink flow with their pens, so I haven't noticed any issues when writing faster. Not true of all brands though but you're in good hands with the Metropolitan. - Colin

      The fine nib is amazing. As a high school student who writes my notes in cursive, I am able to write very quickly with it. It is my finest nibbed pen, and it is very smooth. It also works well on cheap paper.

    • @anhhuynhkimnguyen6793
      @anhhuynhkimnguyen6793 5 років тому

      The metro fine nib is really wet flowing so I don’t think you’ll have any troubles with using it for notes actually, it’s very smooth in my experience, the only downside I can think of is you gotta wait for the ink to dry (which is a problem with most inks and fps), but since the nib is fine, it dries fast as well.

    Is the sunstone conklin duraflex ever coming out? I've been following it since November its killing me, I leave a dedicated tab open on my phone with its page on the goulet store

    • @Gouletpens
      @Gouletpens  5 років тому

      Yes, it's still coming! I think they had some issues with the rose gold flex nib manufacturing causing the delays. We're expecting it by the end of February though. - Colin
