Jovita, great information as always. I, however, have some points you can consider: 1/ Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is a great humectant, capable of holding >1000x amount of water per molecule. But this ingredient does not pump water into the skin (the aspect which makes your skin look plump). Instead, it takes moisture from the atmosphere. This is good if you're in a high humidity area like a coastal place. But a nightmare for people in continental places and places with low humidity. HA will start taking moisture from your skin and lead to dehydration aka stretchy skin. So, please don't praise the ingredient unconditionally. 2/ Rosehip Seed Oil: It is supposed to have a good concentration of all-trans-retinoic acid (aka tretinoin, a form of Vitamin A), but the concentration is usually less than 0.001% if found at all. Negligible for any actual benefit. At best, the rosehip seed oil is a good moisturiser. It is the components of the oil which act on the skin. Concentration is a game-changer. Again, please don't praise the ingredient unconditionally. 3/ Silicones, for skin, are not all bad. Especially if you cleanse your skin every day. It coats your skin, prevents moisture from fleeing and can actually smoothen out the texture on a long run by effectively keeping active ingredients trapped onto the skin. Many dermatologists recommend silicone gels for burns and surgery scars. Frankly, you have near-perfect skin. The Mamaearth serum can only work in a limited way. 4/ Mamaearth sunscreens have some scary ingredients. They claim to be "chemical-free", but the active sun filters are avobenzone and Parsol MCX (which is an encapsulated form of Ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate). Nothing wrong with the ingredients, except the brand, is lying about the contents. One of the sunscreens has orange oil. Yes, orange oil, which is phototoxic. Definitely not something you would like to have in a product which is supposed to protect you from the sun. I wrote out a huge comment because I like your content. I love your positivity and warm personality. And I would like you to consider many of such factors before endorsing any product.
I have used the mamaearth 0roducts continuously. And they just dont work. Especially the texture of the sunscreen is the worst. Does not blend or absorbed.
Thanks for sharing this info! I'm always sceptical when it comes to trying out new brands and honestly I have lost all trust in most of the brands especially meant for skin care..
I found out that steaming my face once a week followed by proper exfoliation helps a lot . And I never got white heads and black heads after following this.❤️
Great video Jovita ! Was waiting for this from a long time! Also, will be sharing few things that I've learnt in past few years for all the b'ful people here. :) 1. The richest source of glycolic acid is jaggery. Yes. No need to shell all your money on expensive products for 5% of GA. You can make a scrub with 100% Arabica coffee + Jaggery + cinnamon + a pinch of nutmeg and keep this dry scrub in a glass jar. Use this every morning and you're done. 2. Serum is indeed a must. I've just started using Klairs Vit C drops because I've sensitive skin and I can already feel my skin changing. 3. One most important thing that I wish I knew when I was younger was to check ingredients list before buying products blindly. Please do check all the ingredients and know what suit/doesn't suit your skin. Pay attention to it. 4. Jovita is absolutely right about cutting sugar. I've stopped having sugar from few months and it shows on my skin. If I'm really feeling like having something sweet I just eat fruits or mix some jaggery in milk and drink it. Brown sugar and honey contain a lot of sugar too! Jaggery is way better than either of them. 5. Don't go overboard with skin care. Keep your routine simple yet effective. 6. Drink warm water. Drinking water is good, but if it's warm its even more beneficial for your body and skin too. 7. Last, try to stay positive. Cut off negative people from your life. Stop following celebrities on social media, follow positive pages, indulge in your hobbies, talk to your friends, sleep for 8 hours and be grateful of the life you've got. Cheers! ❤️
@@schikimhiki You can use it on body too, as well as on skin. Mine is super sensitive and it works fine. Just use only once a day. Preferably in the morning. Nighttime I use grounded oats + matcha tea scrub. Super soft and packed with omega and anti oxidants :)
Idk I use the powdered arabiata coffee and it doesn't feel harsh on my skin. But then maybe it's cos I use it less in quantity, the main ingredient is jaggery because it's rich in glycolic acid.
About the serum in our early 20s-- I don't even remember there were any serums around! At least they weren't so all over the place like now. I am guilty of not even hearing this word called serum back then
Tip: - For acne prone skin an amazing and super effective sunscreen is Acne UV gel. My dermatologist recommended that to me and I've been using it for 2 yrs now.
Accha.. for sunscreen do we need to wash face with normal water or facewash ? Bcz even after using sunscreen tan is there.. !!! I don't know actually how the sunscreen works .. after using this where the tan goes?
Going darker is definitely easier than going lighter with foundation.. so apply your face shade and brighten the centre of your face with concealer to match your chest colour
What about our moms n grandmoms who had great skin in their young age without all this? I understand that pollution now has increased as well as the sun rays are getting more harmful that sunscreen is very important..but other points that we highlight nowadays like using serums and specific ingredients, cutting sugar dairy n all?? I guess nowadays we have started to over-care!
y'all, there was a lot of haldi and chandan and multani mitti and various other mixed that those days were also studied by women, observed, and applied on skin. There was a "trend" of lightening skin and oiling hair. Self-care is self-care, changes with time. No one is forcing you to do it, nevertheless, it's not "over-care", it's just scientific research.
Cutting sugar and dairy is not a necessity. But if u r struggling with acne, it's a must. High glucose levels increases insulin level and increases the sebum production. In case of dairy, it has been found that cow milk causes break out(but not other milk products). Dermatologists say the same. And about other stuffs, people used to do DIY. They knew tons of hacks. We paying money to buy skincare products may look like 'over-care' but skincare was always there even among our grandma's time. Not all of them were devoted to it, just like not everyone likes to put on layers after layer for good skin😂.
Sugar in rice(carbohydrates_glucose)...is different from processed sugar! Being a doctor i feel sad for people who misunderstood these two.Reduce the intake of processed sugar and not natural glucose/carbs.

Cuting out refined sugar is god advice like chocolates, cola and other packaged food but don’t cut out dosa and idly these are fermented foods and are extremely healthy. Not sure why she thinks it’s bad. Rice is also not bad as it contains B vitamins which are essential. So cut rice only if you have issues digesting rice.
Cutting down on refined sugar is necessary. But advising to cut down on healthy Indian foods just because they contains carb is not okay. Healthy carbs are necessary for our body too. Reputed dieticians reccomend home cooked foods like dhosas and idlys too.
I think it's important to distinguish refined/added sugars such as those found in processed foods from the carbohydrates found in whole and raw foods like rice, wheat, grains. Indians are so lucky to have a variety of wholesome, healthy and relatively unadulterated carbs that are low g.i and rich in fibre. There is absolutely NO need to discourage and demonize their consumption - especially to young people.
