I'm 30 and joining the af. My brothers are doing nothing with their lives and I refuse to be the same way. I'm taking the leap of faith. Its only 4 to 6 years of your life. And you still have freedom its just youre away from family and friends. Besides you develope so many true friends. Plus a lot is paid for or free. I'm excited and can't wait.
I say join. I joined back in 2004, I've separated since but still the AF was a great experience. But, like everything in life it has its ups and downs but if you're looking for a change of pace joining the military (any branch) may be that positive outlet you need. My advice once you come in and get your dream or nightmare sheet as I liked to call it, throw all overseas bases on it. Also, don't be afraid of Korea. In 2009 I was stationed at Kunsan Air Base, Korea. Anyone who has ever been apart of the 8th FW (Fighter Wing) Wolfpack will tell you it was one of their best assignments. Good Luck!

Wolf Lady Go to the Air Force website and check the height requirements. The reason I wasn’t able to try and get a pilot job was I was too short. Also she can’t have had asthma or vision that isn’t correctable to 20/20.
You might want to push her towards the officer ranks. Which means she will need a degree to become a pilot. I went to college before I joined and it worked out well. I got out as a E-5 SSgt (Staff Sergeant) and now I'm thinking of returning to Active Duty as an Officer.

I had gotten off track from my journey of GOING into the air force (removing neck tattoo, losing 5 pounds, stop smoking) But WATCHING YOU has brought back my motivation to get back on track and get my damn life!! This is so inspiring
VA loan is the way to go in my opinion, however buying a house isnt the best idea for everyone. It worked out perfect for me and I never looked back. Heres a quick run down (well if anyone cares) on how it works if you are in the military trying to buy a home. First let me say the whole process is pretty lengthy but well worth it at the end. In order to get the VA loan you have to get pre approved. They look at your income and tell you how much they can approve the loan for. I was a Staff Sergeant and for a E-5 for instance in my area I was approved for 200K. That meant I could only get a house for that or lower. At that point you have to look at places that have no issues and 200k or less. You wont get approved for a VA loan if the house has things that need to get fixed or it exceeds $200,000. Remember at the beginning stages you just pre approved not approved so you have to keep that in mind. Now once you start looking ask questions about the home. If the realtor or whoever you have showing you homes says theres electrical problems, plumbing problems or whatever run away because you wont secure the loan. You are just wasting everyones time essentially. The VA will send home inspectors to make sure everything is good with the house before you are approve. I had new construction house and I love my home. I eventually was able to get a brand new 4 bedroom, 2100 sq feet home in a great neighborhood through the VA. I bought it 5 years ago and now its worth almost 245K because they built up the neighborhood sense. The video of my home is on my page if anyones interested in seeing what it looks like. I did a video tour of my place..
I am so happy you are realizing this. Hearing you were unhappy made me sad. You have a great job and the idea that the stability also sets you up to start your life debt free. No medical debt no student loans and an education and veterans status on your resume that will bump you up above any one else as a prospect. My life flew by I'm 30 I dropped out of college after 4 years the debt is crippling and I've done nothing with myself. I highly regret not joining at 18 those 4 years will be gone in the blink of an eye and you will have a hefty nest egg to get you started on top of it all. Way to put your head in a good space.

Did you join?! 🎈 I recently turned 25, sparked a huge interested in joining, have been doing research on the AF, but of course... afraid! What inspired you to join? Anything helps! I want to make sure I join for the right reasons.
I'm actually trying to buy my first home at 26 in California because renting is just as expensive as renting now. It's crazy. I have never been in the military. I wish I would have the opportunity to have joined right after high school. My advice after doing research in buying a home is for you to also do A LOT of research and A LOT of planning. Maybe learn about home equity. Cause I have an aunt who bought her two homes in silicon valley. She bought one for dirt cheap I'm not sure the exact amount maybe like $350,000 in 1998 and bought her second home for $600,000 in 2000. Now the first home is worth $1 million and the second one is worth $2 million. My aunt never saved for retirement but because she did her research she can live off by renting out her $2 million home that's in a high demand area surrounded by people with money. With that said if you make a smart investment it could pay off A LOT. Really inform yourself and I do recommend you save for the down payment and build an emergency saving account and then buy the house. It will take longer but trust me it's worth it. All those people didn't loose their homes in 2007 for no reason. So don't let that happen yo you. Get a home you can afford and a home and set up your finance's and build a foundation. Cause it could save your home.
Just FYI. The VA loan is wonderful, however, you can only use it a limited number of times. Keep that in mind. It’s great for young first time home buyers till you get some credit history built up and get a good savings and income coming in. 👍🏻 good luck sweetie

*6:45** I so agree with this! you gotta give some effort, then people can sense it too* :) great video, I'm considering Air Force Reserves to get my next pilot license and finish my degree!
Thank you for this video. You have a good head on your shoulders it sounds. Why not stay in the AF as a career. You move up by putting forth some effort . Even after retiring you are still young . Companies will hire you because of your service.
I’ve been subscribed to you for a few months and I’m so glad to see this transition. You look so much happier and more content. I originally subscribed to you bc I’m signing soon and you’ve seriously helped me and educated me SO much. Deadass I feel like I know you😂 but you are such a great person I feel like I know you type shit. You make me excited to join!! If I get North Dakota as my base... biiiitch we would be best friends I swear.
Thanks for this video! My husband thinks it'll be good for me but the thought of such a huge step makes me panic and I wonder if I could actually do it

I enlisted in 2016 and though I can say I don’t regret it , I’m also ready to transition out of the service . I signed a 6 year and so far I’ve gained what I came in for . I’m patiently waiting on my DD-214 . Jul 12, 2022 I’m out 😊 .
Elora - this is an extremelly odd question but do you recall your routine that you held while in BMT from the time you woke to the time that you where in line(wake, shower, hair, etc)? I'm in the process of joining and simply want to get begin practiing certain things before 0 week hits me lol
This is definitely motivating. Last year I had decided I wanted to enlist. I had to lose 100 lbs and kind of get over some medical issues and I lost 30 lbs and then life “got in the way” so to say and lost that motivation. Now I need to lose 120 lbs and now that I have put it off I’m more nervous than I was. I was so ready to go and now that I have been living away from military life (my parents are enlisted and I moved away and I regret it) I’ve been hesitant. I know it’s a great option and I still am considering it every single day and I’m just scared. 😪 but I need to do something with my life I have to. I feel so stuck. Sorry I’m ranting but I follow you to remind me that the Air Force would be a good choice and one day I can do it.
Girl I appreciate all your videos i truly do. I was getting so nervous watching your videos bc I want to join the air force but i see a lot of your videos about how you feel homesick so I did get worried. I’m still deciding but I appreciate this video

Quick question about the Air Force recruitment process: I’ve noticed lots of people saying it’s taken them a lot of time to even get in contact with their local recruiter, was this the same for you? Any thoughts/tips to speed this up?
Hey! Great video! Can you explain what are some differences between active duty and reserves? And why you wanna switch. I’m still not too sure which one I would like to do so I would really appreciate your insight. Thanks!
Naomi Zuniga reserves is part time and they typically keep you at your home base, the base close to you and active duty is a full time job. Reserves works better for people who want to do college full time or have another job. Active duty you're more likely to be stationed somewhere you're not from after BMT.

It’s great to hear this! I’m joining soon and actually going to meps in january so it’s nice to see the good benefits and outcomes within the air force. The opportunity and experience was more of what I was concerned about but I know depending on what you make of it, it can be good. :)

I enlisted for the army November of last year. Unfortunately due to severe anemia, I was discharged during BT close to graduation. I originally wanted to enlist for the air force but my recruiter at my hometown was very shady and wouldn't allow me to pick my own job. I was told I could rejoin in 6 months. However, if I were to attempt to become a veteran again, I rather pursue the airforce. My biggest fear is that they would not want to help me since I already joined the army in the past. I also would not want to get discharged for a medical issue again. Although, anemia is very common and watching you go in depth about how the air force works really inspires me to try again in the future. I love your videos and your makeup is on a whole other level of expertise!
Hey Elora do you think after your contracts up you will re sign your contract and just do reserves? Also do you feel like even with all the hardships you’ve gone through and everything that the military has given you a sense of direction?
At this point, I don't think I will re-enlist. I've enjoyed everything and think I'll finish out my contract in a positive manner, but I am interested in looking into a different career after the military. I really think the military has offered me a chance to grow and understand what I want to do next!

I had a question can you be active duty and still go to college at the same time like a university? I’m just wondering Bc I wanted to earn my bachelors while being in the AF
I've been watching your videos for like 3 months and I just now realized i wasn't subscribed lmfao. Quick question tho how are you living in an apartment (?) and have pets as a single airman ?
Olivia Forrest she’s married that’s how she got out in 3 months of being in the dorms. that really the only way to get out. or get pregnant, don’t do that . tooooo many people are getting married to get out ITS A TRAPPPPPPPP!
I am indeed not single anymore, but I wanted to mention marriage and pregnancy are not the *only* ways to move out of a dorm, but the most likely. Otherwise, you might get the chance to move out early if your dorms become too full and they allow people to move out who can prove they're financially responsible.
Heyyyy, Sorry to bother you 😩 I 22 yrs old and have a almost 3 yr old son and for soooo long I’ve been thinking about joining to start my career as nursing and i don’t kno where to start 😩😩. I’m really nervous on joining because i have a son and I’m jus thinking about all these negatives stuff like what if this or what if that 😭 My husband is in the army and he’s deployed right now so I’m thinking is it going to be more difficult for us if we both were in the military since we have a child ? How was ur whole experience with the whole Air Force ? I told my husband I’ve considering joining and he thinks I’ll really love it
I got 3D1X2 (cyber transport systems) and we can get stationed basically everywhere. I'm a week away from basic, but i know another guy with my MOS who just got back from 2 years deployed in Germany.
I love your videos, they make me feel like I’m definitely making the right decision 😃 well this is the most beneficial decision because my town has nothing to offer and I could never afford college on my own without being in debt forever 💀
Kaleigh Goldsmith What inspired you to join? Anything helps! I want to make sure I join for the right reasons... I recently turned 25, sparked a huge interested in joining, have been doing research on the AF, but of course... afraid!
One of my friends is active duty in the army and is currently deployed to Afghanistan. Honestly, impression he gave me is that he hates every second of it. And this is because like you said in your video. He joined for the wrong reasons. Similarly too you he wanted to be independent and not dependent on his parents. So he decided too join the army as an officer after graduating college rotc. He thought he would be breaking down doors and killing bad guys, and he very quickly got turned off by all the mundaneness of life in the military. He would talk too me a lot about how the army wasn’t what he thought it would be at all. And that the underlying reasons for why he joined was too prove something too his parents and not be in the army because he genuinely wanted too.
Say if I wanted to do like cosmetology school or a trade while in the Air Force is that allowed as well or only college classes? I tried looking into it myself but couldn’t find out anything
hi Elora! I love watching your videos because I'm so passionate to join the Air Force and your advice is highly appreciated :) I was wondering how many college courses you take a semester? After the Spring 2019 semester I was thinking of enlisting and doing my last year of college with the help from the AF knowing it will take me longer, I have 11 classes left after May 2019 should I push through the last year or see where the Air Force takes me? I'm trying decide if I want to do 4 years or 6 years..
I thought about the reserves as well when I was thinking about joining too so I’m debating between active vs reserve so I may do active for 6 years and then do reserve :) im still thinking! I worked off of USA jobs for a long time working for the govt for a long time you will get a good job off of there ☺️
I'm still watching even though I decided against joining the Air Force for the time being 🙋🏻♀️🙋🏻♀️🙋🏻♀️ (I think I'm going to join once I get my degree and go in as an officer!)
Mikayla What inspired you to join? Anything helps! I want to make sure I join for the right reasons... I recently turned 25, sparked a huge interested in joining, have been doing research on the AF, but of course... afraid! I’m considering going for my BA also to pursue the officer route, but need more knowledge on how exactly to go about it.
Glad to see you are happier. That one video you were pretty down about the AF. I was almost ready to jump off the roof after that... LOL JKJK! You got a nasty base for your first base and that sucks. Nobody likes Grand Forks hahaha. GOOD TO SEE YOU HAPPIER!!
I just finished up my AIT for Army, and throughout my entire basic training and AIT I regretted not going to the airforce. But now that I am officially a soldier, I heard the airforce doesn’t take prior service, especially army. So now, I have to just live with never being an airman.
Elora Jean Thank you! I’ll definitely look into it! I’m hoping to get a general discharge in order to go into another branch. Or, if i cannot do that, I’ll just finish my contract and try after that!!
I don't know a lot about the guard or reserves, but it's pretty much a part-time situation. You won't be working full-time, and therefore won't be getting paid as such. It just depends on what you're attempting to get out of the service and what works best for your personal life.
You earn 30 days of leave per year, and can save those (they roll over every year), and your family can come visit you if they so choose. I see my family about twice a year? And spend my other days on miscellaneous vacation trips
Do you have a boyfriend? If so how do you handle moving, seeing each other, and all other challenges that would come with the airforce? I'm thinking about joining and I'm in a 8 yr relationship lol I would love to know it could affect us and some tips if you have any! 😊
I took it a few years ago for the heck of it and made a 50ish which isn't great. Planning to retake it ina few weeks and currently studying to make sure I make a far greater score than my original. I suggest to google ASVAB practive test and look at ASVAB for dummies. The overall exam isn't horrifically hard but you will def neeed to review highschool basic (if it has been while since HS).
@@DearmariuhOfficial get the Asvab for Dummies book, the latest edition. Look carefully at how the test is structured, what your dream job's line score is, and take the practice tests they give you at the end. Space them out by taking the first practice test right when you start studying to see where your strength's and weaknesses are, another test when you've bren studying for a few weeks to a month, and another one right a 1-2 weeks before you take the real ASVAB test. I didn't need to study as much, I studied maybe 5 hours and took 1 practice test. Got a 94 on my ASVAB. However, I have three close friends who all used this method or a similar one and got very high scores as well. Good luck on your journey
@@Assimile69 thanks for sharing, good luck to you. I myself joined military on active duty at an extremely late age. I joined the Army right before I turned 35. It will be hard being in the military as it is, and it will be harder having to adjust if you are coming in at a really very late age like thirties. But at least you aren't Army since the average life of a soldier is arguably more difficult than the average time of an airperson. Hope you can get a decent ASFC. I wound up with a MOS that is highly inappropriate for me for many reasons (92 Golf cook) because thats what I had to settle for since there were very few jobs (mostly mechanics) available to me at that point (right before turning 35) even though I had an 88 on my ASVAB. Hope things for you go a whole lot better. Good luck and work smarter, not harder (as they say about the Air Force vs the Army).
I really needed this video. I haven't watched it yet but this is a clear sign that I need to stop being afraid of commitment and my own personal freedom.

Great video! Just subscribed! Canadian Serving soldier and British veteran 👍
I love watching your videos. I’m leaving for basic on may 28th and I’m getting so nervous. Watching your videos reminds me that life in the military can be enjoyable and normal. Thank you for these videos, I love watching them. They’re so motivating

*6:45** I so agree with this! you gotta give some effort, then people can sense it too* :) great video, I'm considering Air Force Reserves to get my next pilot license and finish my degree!
Would love a video on why you're thinking reserves now instead of remaining active! Love your videos as always ❤
This comment is everything hahaha you're awesome!

Girl come to Florida 😀 I live in Miami it’s pretty lit
Can you do some videos on desk jobs for the Air Force? Keep up the awesome videos 💕

Lisa Melton Thank you!
I enlisted and swore in today to the airforce and I thought about you and your videos when choosing jobs.

My son leaves for Airforce boot camp on July 2nd. I can't wait!😂
I'm glad you're doing better, I hated that you were feeling down about how things were going. Merry Christmas Elora! :)
It’s great to hear this! I’m joining soon and actually going to meps in january so it’s nice to see the good benefits and outcomes within the air force. The opportunity and experience was more of what I was concerned about but I know depending on what you make of it, it can be good. :)

Coming soon ;)
As gorgeous as ever!!! I'm your #1 fan. You're so talented, and you've have inspired me so much!!!
So happy things are looking up for you girly ✨💕
I really needed this... I'm in tech school now and I've been having a really rough time and to be honest, I did forget the reason I joined. I completely forgot that there was a reason that im doing this so thank you for this, looking forward to watching more!

Thank u so much for this video!!!
You should post a video of how people posting their ship dates is a compromise of OPSEC. Would serve them well to understand that.
I love your videos so much! They’ve made me really passionate about wanting to join and just having a females perspective, like yours, is really great

Make sure you're in shape! Run often, increase your core strength, eat well and drink tons of water! You got this :)

Hi
Girl if you move to like west FL hit me uppp! We’re stationed in Mobile AL & I hate it here & need friends lolll 🙃
Lol, most Air Force bases are in fly over states.
I told my husband I’ve considering joining and he thinks I’ll really love it
Also I have a question regarding jobs. What kind of jobs travel the most and what are more hands on and active seeing jobs.

I leave for boot camp for the AF next Tuesday
I wish I can into the future and see for myself if I’ll deal with it or even like the AF!💀I’ll never know until I do join😓
Love your videos☺️ hoping to join the Air Force reserves next year.
I thought about the reserves as well when I was thinking about joining too so I’m debating between active vs reserve so I may do active for 6 years and then do reserve :) im still thinking! I worked off of USA jobs for a long time working for the govt for a long time you will get a good job off of there ☺️
I am trying to leave the civilian sector now and trying to come into the airforce now to get help with school and benefits now lol
Have you joined @Ashley Moore? I'm wanting to join for the same reasons. I'm so nervous but going to talk to a recruiter this week.
Can you refer any material to ensure the beet score to get into the Air Force?
I've heard the ASVAB for dummies is a good studying tool!
Love your videos! I’ve been talking to a recruiter recently. Hopefully I can join soon.
Can you bring your own sock bun thing to basic? And your own gel?
Yes!
Do they teach you to do your hair? That’s the most nerve wrecking part for me. I’m scared I can’t do it fast enough.
I'm planning on joining and I'm 26
same here. planning to take the asvab ina few weeks and get the ball rolling!
Same! I’m 26 preparing for MEPS
Same here
do you have any advice about what to expect/prepare for with BMT/tech school?
Dona'e Albert she has several videos on bmt!(:
Brandi Roth thank you!! I just found them 😊
I'm still watching even though I decided against joining the Air Force for the time being 🙋🏻♀️🙋🏻♀️🙋🏻♀️ (I think I'm going to join once I get my degree and go in as an officer!)
I heard its really hard commission as officer from a civilian
Good luck! It's competitive to become an officer but I think it's a good choice if you have a degree under your belt already.

I’m considering going for my BA also to pursue the officer route, but need more knowledge on how exactly to go about it.
What's the limit in age when joining? Because I'm currently in school for nursing and dont want to stop.
39
Glad to see you are happier. That one video you were pretty down about the AF. I was almost ready to jump off the roof after that... LOL JKJK! You got a nasty base for your first base and that sucks. Nobody likes Grand Forks hahaha.
GOOD TO SEE YOU HAPPIER!!
Yes I’m so happy I found you 😩❤️
What part of Florida are you thinking of moving to?
ORLANDOOOOOO
Happy Holidays Girl Next Door! :D
Can I make it through basic lol my husband and my dad just retired army! I’m
Just thinking as coming in as a woman ❤️☺️💪
I just finished up my AIT for Army, and throughout my entire basic training and AIT I regretted not going to the airforce. But now that I am officially a soldier, I heard the airforce doesn’t take prior service, especially army. So now, I have to just live with never being an airman.
Wooahhh that's not true! You can absolutely switch branches into the Air Force! I've met several people who have done such.
Elora Jean Thank you! I’ll definitely look into it! I’m hoping to get a general discharge in order to go into another branch. Or, if i cannot do that, I’ll just finish my contract and try after that!!
That is NOT true.
Hi love so when I join how would I get started with starting with school ASAP:))
When you arrive at your duty station, visit the base educational center. They do a decent job of guiding people. Most AF Bases have colleges on them.
Your me asf 💀 I needed to see this
I ship out January 15th!
OPSEC violation.
Would you recommend AGR?
I don't know a lot about the guard or reserves, but it's pretty much a part-time situation. You won't be working full-time, and therefore won't be getting paid as such. It just depends on what you're attempting to get out of the service and what works best for your personal life.
You’re amazing💯💯👑👑👑😫😫😫😫😫
How often do you get to see your family?
You earn 30 days of leave per year, and can save those (they roll over every year), and your family can come visit you if they so choose. I see my family about twice a year? And spend my other days on miscellaneous vacation trips
What can I do to help with the test?
I've heard the ASVAB for dummies is pretty good! I didn't study so I couldn't tell you what helped me
Do you have a boyfriend? If so how do you handle moving, seeing each other, and all other challenges that would come with the airforce? I'm thinking about joining and I'm in a 8 yr relationship lol I would love to know it could affect us and some tips if you have any! 😊
5:29 Elora going to reenlist now lol
Are you active duty or reserve?
Taneria Smith she is active
Thought you was older lol but thanks for this 🙌🏾❤️
can you give us tips on asvab ? like how the test is, how long, is it hard ? what should we do to study it .?
I would love to be able to help but I practically remember nothing and I didn't study! So I'm not a good person to ask unfortunately
Ashleyanna Johnson what exactly do they cover in the asvab ? How long is it ?
@@DearmariuhOfficial this web site maybe helpful www.4tests.com/asvab
You do makeup Lovley as well , I just throw my on lol
Are u like full time in the Air Force or in the air national guard?
Jackéo I’m full time, active duty!
I follow you on sc! Interested why you choose photojournalism instead of intelligence like you initially went in
Photojournalism is what fit best with my personality and interests, I'm such an artistic person I figured I'd enjoy it more!
Totally agree coming from an Intel guy :)
That makes complete sense. I'm not a "artsy" person lol
Hello Elora: I am turning 39 at the end of the month and a recruiter just turned me down. :-(
Rachel Marshall
Im sorry about that. Hopefully there might be some possibility that you could still join at least Air Reserve or Air Guard.
@@macburger5026 Turns out, the recruiter was WRONG. I got an 87 on practice ASVAB. I'm on my way.
I need to come in for the home loan lol :))))
Are you still at Minot?
I never was haha, but still North Dakota yes
@@EloraJean Oh... Sorry.
Grand Forks maybe?
Elora Jean is bae 😍🤷🏻♂️
Are you active or reserve???
What are your thoughts on sexual harassment? Do you feel safe around the men above you?
my bro is in Eglin AFB. Housing there is really cheap plus the beach is awesome :)

Marcus McKinney I am 😊

See you there
