I am living in waterloo region since long time and got stuck here because of my family. To be honest and very serious it is boring place to live and there is nothing here when you are off and do things. Home prices are very expensive compare to the size of the cities here. Jobs I don't know people say lots of opportunities for people who are working in tech maybe but I don't know much about tech sector so might be. Other jobs not so many because there aren't many big companies here to offer employment. Good for students because they come here for two big universities here. I would leave this place right now if I wouldn't have home here. Don't come. I would say GTA and cities around the GTA is best because you will always get some jobs to survive.
Years ago went to play pool with a friend on a Thursday night. About 10 minutes to 9pm we were told the place was closing for the night. REALLY? Hicksville!
3:20 The expanding lanes on the 401 will be filled in 1-3 years unless transit service improves. Building mostly for cars is NOT sustainable or environmentally friendly and we need to stop exclusively saying a place is nice to live because it's near a large highway and instead mention transit too. It will help shift people's thinking from unsustainable to sustainable living. I would encourage recommending rail more often like ION, GO Train's and VIA Rail's frequent service to the area. GO's and VIA's future electrification is also exciting and it will bring more frequent train service to the GTHA and into Quebec.
Yeah I would agree that transit service in Canada isn't the greatest but Kitchener and Waterloo are making strides to encourage other means of transportation like the LRT, bike paths, I highlighted this in my new video, Kitchener Ontario Explained.

Hey Thander, I hope all is well, I have lived in Kitchener my entire life, I enjoy the city in my opinion it is more fun than most cities in Canada. I have been to several cities within in Canada, I would say Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver are more fun than Kitchener but they are far larger than Kitchener-Waterloo. I think the lack of nightlife is the biggest drawback.
If you're looking for a night life, you'd be better off in Toronto. There's some night life here, but it's often stacked with students. If you're all right with that, great. If you don't care about the night life, during the summer there are plenty of activities in waterloo park (movie night, sports, there was a drone show, etc). Lots of recreational centers. Swimming in some places. In the winter there are a few skating rinks. Lots of fun restaurants to go to. If you have a car, Waterloo region is close to a lot of amazing nature. We're only 30-40 min from rattlesnake point, etc
Everytime I hear they give Google reference. How many people Google employ here 1000? Just because Google is here it doesn't make the region great. You need other things in life beside work and you won't get it here. Where is Google in downtown Kitchener. Whenever I go to downtown Kitchener I get so much depressed because small and full of druggists and homeless people. What else here tell me one small shopping mall. There is no good quality of life here. So many people now cramped here and look at the traffic getting worse. Because, these three cities aren't build for big population. Think like this you have house with two bed room and your family is getting bigger and bigger but you don't have much land to build more room then what will happen? Same thing is happening here. Night life sucks here and only very few restaurants and pubs which are at waterloo up town. And they always close and open new ones.

Moved here 12 years ago and it's much better then Cambridge. Kitchener waterloo has plenty of concerts, festivals, kitchener rangers hockey games, bars downtown, and a light rail transit that makes it easy to commute between both cities. Cambridge is a shithole compared to kitchener waterloo
So this guy sells homes that are very expensive. Houses in kitchener have more then doubled in price in the last 4 years. Most people new to kitchener rent a bedroom for $500 -$1000 a month. Please talk to people who live here for more then a year and are not selling schooling, renting or needed cheap labour. Lots of jobs for minimum wage but you will not be able to afford an apartment on minimum wage.

Home prices are based on supply and demand, with the levels of immigration at its highest, it's ever been, it has pushed prices up. In addition new housing is a major contributor to government revenue, as much as 31% of a new homes value goes directly to some level of government. This is specific to Ontario.
Google is actually laying off. Other than that KW is the most boring city in the world. I've lived here since 1983. If you are a homebody than this is the place for you. Starting to get all the problems Toronto has. Stay off the roads during Oktoberfest.

Board game cafés in Kitchener and Waterloo are fun too. I could see how living the Doon Village area could be boring. It's just rows of homes, no true downtown feel in that area. The bike infrastructure is improving in that area, but it seems like most people drive. Driving aids in making a place feel boring and does not aid in a community focused lifestyle.

Yes I believe so, the construction industry has been in need of workers for years now, there always looking for workers.
