What I am thinking the house you buy here in Canada is basically paying the paycheques of bureaucrats and profit to financial institutions. Because you would never own the land and whenever government needs the property for their use they can come and take it from you. So screw this country.

A guy I worked with owned a piece of land that his family had trailers on. It was in the family for years. He decided he was going to build a house on it for his retirement. Him and his wife sold their house, and made an absolute killing on it, who h was going to fund the building of the house, with a surplus. The township hit him with fee after fee, and tax on top of tax. Permits, inspections, having to do things twice over, more fees, more taxes, more red tape. The governmental hoops cost him more than the materials to build an 1100 square foot house on land he owned free and clear. The last I heard, I was not linger able to retire, and was facing g the prospect of a mortgage again. I wanted to build a house myself, but after hearing his plight, it put me right off. At the end of the day, even if they made it easy, and you could build your dream home, you'd still be in Ontario, nestled firmly in the bosom of the ruins formerly known as Canada. Why would anyone want to invest in this place? I can't wait for my visa to come through so I can get the hell out of this dump.

You don't "own" land anywhere in Canada. We never did. Canada is a Crown corporation formerly known as Hudsons Bay Company and sold to queen Victoria. You go from owing and paying a bank "back" for numbers and letters instead of a duffle bag of actual ca$h with a mortgage. So they can sucker MORE people into the ponzi scheme with fractional reserve banking "borrowing" $ they never actually put up in the first place. To becoming a tennant of the Crown only through property taxation you were already obligated to pay from the time of purchase. And when the rug gets pulled for not paying those taxes or fees for the environment like the amount of rain that lands on "your" property bleeding your finances dry? Or using a wood stove? Watering your lawn in Calgary? Trying to kill us all with avian monkey pox having your own chickens? Or God forbid having a garden that needs water and planet ending fertilizer? Why would CAF be asking about garden ownersip doing "wellness checks" door to door in Goderich, On recently? "Your" property reverts back either to the bank that didn't actually give you anything at all. Or back to the Crown. And along the way you finance the "oppressed" usefull idiots who get a cut from the Corporation for leeching their existance off of the productive members of society like malignant cancer cells. It's just gotten too obvious not to see now. And here comes the "proposed" increase in "un-realized capital gains" tax on "your" primary residence for living in it. Along with the imposed tax increase on secondary property you "own". And the income tax that was only a temporary measure to finance WW1... As all of the major banks are about to collapse accelerated by an order of magnititude with mortgage defaults starting to skyrocket now in the same cascade that took the $ystems down in '08 with the overt and quiet bank bail outs in the US AND Canada respectively. Yes they got bailed out here as well. Quietly and swept under the rug. I just wish the ill behaved in society would STOP banging monkies!!! God help us if the monkies start banging chickens... 🙈

We have an extreme problem with house prices, but anyone that wants to try to build anything costs $1 million to develop anything? No wonder people are leaving this country. Why would anyone buy land in Ontario, when you can buy amazing land in Costa Rica in beautiful weather where you can Garden Mangos and Avocados and actually live off-Grid if you wanted to year-around for that same $150,000.

left ONT back in 1980, my family started Scarborough in the 1800s, I have since moved to a little town in BC and the funny reason why was because it reminds me of little towns in ONT, anyways the town Council here has to old purple haired fembos that seem to get voted in every election, so happens the two of them are allowed 10 min with the ballets buy themselves, the Problem is people don't participate in there so called democracies much anymore, The Gov knows this and places there people in all levels of positions even out side of there Parties, I sat in on a regional district water board meeting, they had a new hire, A woman straight here from Australia, Sustainability was about the only word she understood, Talk about a WEF plant, Its all about cutting farmers off from there water supply because the fish are running out of water to swim in, and that letter went out during the spring run off,

Government corruption as migrants fill positions will be rampant in the future. So bribery and nepotism will be a thing in Canada as it is in other third world nations. Land rights and use will soon be thrown out the window in ontario and illegal builds will be approved all across ontario in the not so distant future.

I was born and raised in Toronto, just moved to the KW area last month. I don't think it's a fair comparison though. Toronto is a major/large city and will of course rank higher for entertainment and future growth potential hands down. But it depends on what you're looking for in life, my husband and I wanted a more affordable city with a slower pace, so we chose Kitchener and are loving it. Two different kinds of cities. But I can understand the purpose of the video. Good content!

What about the Midwood crescent area. Have the prices gone significantly down from the highs? Those are mostly rentals I think. How much are the houses going for in that area , for purchase or monthly rents ?

A two bedroom lower unit is around 2,050 per month tenant pays utilities. Probably 2,500 for the upper unit.

It isn't the worst, but far from the best. There are a lot of student rentals in the area.
