      I was thinking the same, that seems to be a very long run to the bottom pulley. Think it needs another idler pulley to take up the slack/vibration in the belt.
      Still a badass engine though :)

      They have to run loose because driving each pulley warms up and expands and takes the slack out quickly. I run my belt on my 6-71 loose. A friend told me he runs his much tighter, yep pulled the snout right off his crank on the lower pulley on a cruise night.

    Lol, the comments about the belt tension are hilarious. Under torque, the belt gets longer and has to go somewhere. A spring loaded tensioner that wide, under that much torque will be a cumbersome thing.
    ---Since it's a cog belt, if you let it flap, the flap takes up the added belt length, and the cog teeth stop it from slipping.
    ---Also, it's difficult for it to run a tooth over the pulley, because the pulley effectively becomes bigger, adding tension.
    ---Leave it alone.

      If the belt is too tight as the engine warms up the alloy expands quite a lot and causes the belt to tighten more. It will likely snap the snout off the front of the crankshaft.

    Where comes out the whine noise? I love those!

    • @juggis
      @juggis 10 років тому +1

      The whining comes mainly from the blower rotors spinning outrageously fast.

      juggis the belt also plays a massive part in the whining noise

    • @janj0n
      @janj0n 9 років тому

      BassFreak I read many years ago that one could greatly reduce the whine by drilling air escape holes in the roots of the teeth of the blower pulleys. Apparently the air being displaced by the cogs of the belt as they engage with the pulleys is where a lot of that noise comes from. Effectively, I guess, it's more of a whistle than a whine. That said, I would NEVER take a drill to my blower pulleys... assuming I had any, or ever do.

    I think she sounds amazing. A little disappointed with the power numbers. I would have thought 1100 or so. My neighbor has a na 496 that makes right at 1000 on a single 1150 dominator. No bottle. Granted he has a 15-1 cr but still... Regardless, I cannot argue with this beastly beauty. You can run pump fuel all day and if 900 isn't enough... Swap the pulley, add octane and go faster. Well done

    la pag.Razine.com Diferencia entre un turbo caragador y un super cargador...ahi bajan un poquito y esta en español,fueron creados inicialmente para camiones y gruas para ayudarles con sus bajos a la hora de tener potencia,y recalcan "siempre y cuando el firme o carretera este en buenas condiciones" dentro de las desventajas pues que el aparato en si,la carcasa del artefacto se calienta y se trata de enfriar el aire y no calentarlo mas,y tambien a la hora de comprirlo que se ejerce una temperatura ahi dentro y estropea un poquito el invento,pero bueno todo tiene sus ventajas e incovenientes esta claro.Por logica me vino ahora a la cabeza cuando lei la comparativa del Shelby gt500 vs Dodge Challenger R/T donde el Ford no reaccionaba como se esperaba de un coche de 500cv,literalmente como si se ahogara,creaba mucho vacio en su respuesta,ya digo el papel lo aguanta lo puede aguantar todo y si un fabricante te da unos datos se respetan y ya esta,pero de lo que ellos venden por un precio muy bueno eso si a lo que de verdad ofrece por prestaciones no va muy de la mano a lo que la ficha tecnica pone,por ejemplo un Bmw M5 el de 507cv le pasa por encima pero de una manera barbara.

    I wanted my truck to sound like that but I bought a Weiand charger and only had problems. First day leaked gear oil. I bought a gasket kit that is when I seen the shoddy machine work. When the case bolt holes were drilled it chipped the gasket area so bad that it won't seal. I'm going to take it to a machinist to hopefully get it fixed. Has anyone else herd of problems like this ? I tried to get help from Holley tech department and only got the run around. After two months I got the hint. I'm not mad. I'm pissed ! I worked a hard dangerous job to pay for that and feel I got taken. I wish I would've seen this video first. Hind sight is twenty twenty.

      Turbo mate. Smaller, easier, cheaper, no belt. Etc. ;)
