Mine is a saga 1.3 cvt. When going out of a junction from standstill, seems like the engine is yelling the gearbox spirit from having a teh tarik at kedai mamak. STOP NGETEH CVT, WE ARE GOING OUT FROM A JUNCTION, COME HERE GET YOUR JOB DONE! Each time the car standstill at a junction the spirit will say, NGETEH JAP, APA APA ROGER
but during the race after watching iriz going ahead, the host said that iriz very impressive... ok laa.. at least he puji jgk iriz. adrian until the end didnt want to admit iriz (he mention it was dinasour before the race start) more faster.
I also love it as GC was backing the Iriz although he does not know what would be the outcome. While the others just down look the Iriz since the start, and even tried to still say the other cars are better by saying fuel consumption la, jaguh on its own la, etc. Just be proud of home grown car. Yeah, its old and less efficient, but still has its charm with better drive feel & cheapest to buy.

Turbo is made to reduce the burden of a vehicle and also ends up giving small amount of extra HP, compared to NA engine. Iriz is 1.3, although ativa is turbo, it doesn't turns into a Skyline

Iriz is indeed a good car just that many people dont really say about it, same goes to the Petronas fuel. Their new primax 97 with pro race removes 99.9% of engine deposits from key areas, making the engine responsive enough

Anyways, not all turbo engines are reliable. If talking about Toyota, Mazda. BMW, Volvo, Proton that collaborates with Geely, Nissan and Perodua that made turbo engines, it will be more reliable.

I have the older iriz exec 1.6 in Sabah and taking it up Banjaran Crocker Kimanis Keningau road is no sweat. At D gear with 5 adults and full load it can overtake suv and pickup truck that is more than 2.0cc on the climb. Really powerful car. My in-laws thought it has turbo but it doesn't. The iriz now is going on its 6th year and showing its age but just a little. I also have the x50 flagship in Sabah and kia sportage 2012 in semenanjung. Between the two the sportage i love a bit more. X50 the red dashboard aduh is yucky (wife like it) and proton signal and wiper switch side really not so nice. But proton fuel port on driver side i like.

We only can read the details but on the road result is different. 1.3 iriz maybe can be a fair competitors to my opinion because 1.0turbo vs 1.6 ? I don't know what to say. But the car weight is one of the reason why iriz can win. Ativa is suv which is more heavy than almera. But iriz is compact car which is lighter than almera n ativa. 1.6 with lighter body than other two competitor, i think this is not a fair play. This is just my 10cent opinion. Iriz tip the scale at 1180KG, meanwhile Ativa is only at 1035KG (which is lighter than Saga) and almeera at 1114KG. The video literally show kerb weight of each car before the race, though. Just to put things to perspective on how heavy the Iriz is....Myvi, being on the same B segment hatchback category is 1015KG. Ativa is an high A segment / low B segment car and should be seen as a direct competitor to Myvi, Iriz, Saga etc. Ativa is basically slightly smaller myvi with better handling and safety feature. Dunno why people think Ativa = competitor of x50. X50 = high B / low C segment. It is 1 class above Ativa. It is like compare Civic and Vios really.
Iriz has most complained CVT (slow la apa la), most weight, and lesser torque but still lead in drag race. Prove that specs alone doesn't tell the whole story so better test drive for real before talk shit about cars. Counter argument here could be the fuel economy but Iriz being the cheapest means the fuel cost can be offset by the car's price differences.
Now new facelift for both Iriz and Persona are using different types of Punch gearbox to lessen issues and improve reliability. Plus, even my words are not related to this video, Iriz facelift and Persona facelift also come with so many features including “Hi Proton”, Digital Dual Air Cond Zone and etc. Even both Proton Persona facelift and Iriz facelift looks better and handsome, especially for front design too
@@esk4105 yea, I've seen both new Iriz and Persona on the road and they certainly looks more modern at least the front side. Not sure how different the gearbox does but with updated interior which looks way better than previous FL while only increasing the price by a bit, the major complaint about fuel economy and service cost can be forgiven unless if you're driving e-hailing.

Looking at the spec sheet, 0-100 preve 9.6s, suprima 9.9s, compared to civic 8.2s, interesting to compare (new engine vs old engine cfe). I tried to potong civic at the highway using preve, civic couldn't catchup at high speed 😅

I still remember a talk by Proton's engineer, when they introduced the engine for Preve turbo and the Iriz's. In comparison to the Waja's 1.6 engine (a Campro, as u know), they said that the engine block is different, the intake valves for the Preve is turboed, the Iriz is VVT'ed, as well as the output valves. I dont understand why people keeps calling the Iriz's engine a Campro. Even PaulTan! And not once I heard in this video call the engine a Campro! Feel free to correct me. I just cannot find the talk video, it was on UA-cam years ago.
The cylinder block is still a campro at heart with the same engineering behind it. What Proton did was re-engineered the cylinder head for each iteration (Campro, CPS, CFE and VVT). Maybe just a few knicks by upgrading (piston head, con-rods etc) and stiffening the block in CFE, but in general, they're still using the 1st Campro as a based. Just like VW's ea888, it came with many iterations (1.8, 2.0) and generations (current in the mk8 is the 3rd or 4th gen), they're still basically the same engineering behind it with various improvements through years. So yeah, deep down it is a Campro.
CFE engine is 70% new design and components, the piston bore strok for example is 2mm shorter, It’s one of the engine that’s modifications friendly and the cast iron block have advantage over aluminium, most if not all drag car use iron block engin

Polo > fiesta > iriz/persona > city/jazz > vios > myvi

Ativa is an high A segment / low B segment car and should be seen as a direct competitor to Myvi, Iriz, Saga etc. Ativa is basically slightly smaller myvi with better handling and safety feature.
Dunno why people think Ativa = competitor of x50. X50 = high B / low C segment. It is 1 class above Ativa. It is like compare Civic and Vios really.
Iriz has most complained CVT (slow la apa la), most weight, and lesser torque but still lead in drag race.
Prove that specs alone doesn't tell the whole story so better test drive for real before talk shit about cars. Counter argument here could be the fuel economy but Iriz being the cheapest means the fuel cost can be offset by the car's price differences.
Now new facelift for both Iriz and Persona are using different types of Punch gearbox to lessen issues and improve reliability. Plus, even my words are not related to this video, Iriz facelift and Persona facelift also come with so many features including “Hi Proton”, Digital Dual Air Cond Zone and etc. Even both Proton Persona facelift and Iriz facelift looks better and handsome, especially for front design too
@@esk4105 yea, I've seen both new Iriz and Persona on the road and they certainly looks more modern at least the front side. Not sure how different the gearbox does but with updated interior which looks way better than previous FL while only increasing the price by a bit, the major complaint about fuel economy and service cost can be forgiven unless if you're driving e-hailing.

Nope turbo is practical engine because fuel consumption better than 1.6 engine and road tax cheap

Was deciding between the 3.5 V6 Camry and the 2.0 Passat, seeing the NA Iriz win; now i've made up my mind
I don't think it applies to all cars. The 3.5 V6 Camry performance is mediocore, while 2.0 TSI Passat with DSG is a combo.
Where can u get the 3.5 V6 Camry in Malaysia?
@@wangmat9219 I don’t think you can in Msia unless you source for the 2GR-FKS and the UA80E tranny from other Toyota/Lexus (e.g. Alphard, ES/RX350, etc) and a matching ECU overseas.

Can we have another old juara kampung? It may have lost its place in the line up but by putting it against those new c segment market, we can at least bring back its pride. I'm talking about Proton Suprima. For sure kalah one with new civic, Mazda 3 etc.. But it would be a great video to watch by many.
Looking at the spec sheet, 0-100 preve 9.6s, suprima 9.9s, compared to civic 8.2s, interesting to compare (new engine vs old engine cfe). I tried to potong civic at the highway using preve, civic couldn't catchup at high speed 😅

I still remember a talk by Proton's engineer, when they introduced the engine for Preve turbo and the Iriz's. In comparison to the Waja's 1.6 engine (a Campro, as u know), they said that the engine block is different, the intake valves for the Preve is turboed, the Iriz is VVT'ed, as well as the output valves. I dont understand why people keeps calling the Iriz's engine a Campro. Even PaulTan! And not once I heard in this video call the engine a Campro! Feel free to correct me. I just cannot find the talk video, it was on UA-cam years ago.
Preve cfe also have vvt at intake.. The block was campro just different at head and intake manifold
The cylinder block is still a campro at heart with the same engineering behind it. What Proton did was re-engineered the cylinder head for each iteration (Campro, CPS, CFE and VVT). Maybe just a few knicks by upgrading (piston head, con-rods etc) and stiffening the block in CFE, but in general, they're still using the 1st Campro as a based. Just like VW's ea888, it came with many iterations (1.8, 2.0) and generations (current in the mk8 is the 3rd or 4th gen), they're still basically the same engineering behind it with various improvements through years. So yeah, deep down it is a Campro.
CFE engine is 70% new design and components, the piston bore strok for example is 2mm shorter, It’s one of the engine that’s modifications friendly and the cast iron block have advantage over aluminium, most if not all drag car use iron block engin

@@zainultanjui2665 Tapi ada banyak issues untuk honda, termasuk city baru seperti oil compressor leaking, rak stereng, lapisan getah, honda cvt dan kualiti body. Pergi ke servis center untuk honda tapi tak boleh berakhir.
