Teeny tiny correction. The "e" in Sune's name is not silent. It's pronunciation is more like "Sooneh" than "Soon". Per Rasaad from Baldur's Gate . Great video overall. I love your content! :)
There is a very powerful curse in a potion form produced by Talona called the Chaos Curse. It frenzied a monstary of clerics, empowered Orgogs and Ogerlons, and was once consumed and the human who drank the Choas Curse was immediately transformed into a powerful vampire.
Ironically, my first DnD character is a life cleric of Talona. This is bc/ I wanted to play as a character for a story I'm writing who is a doctor with poison powers who wants to get rid of pain in human lives. In DnD he's chaotic nuetral, so he'd have an interesting dynamic with Talona. He's kind of the opposite. xD
Welcome back! Additionally, thank you for yet another insightful video that will most definitely not inspire much distress and lamination for my players XD
I've had a concept for a priestess of Sune. She's a bard acolyte, with cobbler's tools as one of her proficiencies. She makes beautiful shoes, consecrates them to Sune, and hands them out to the poor. Far from being vain or pompous, I think a temple of Sune would take in the homeless, bathe them, clothe them, give them a haircut and a shave. Today, organizations that help the homeless will get volunteers who can give haircuts or even massages.
90% of Sune priestess are redheads and those who are not at least put red streaks in their hair. Many temples are whorehouses to upscale saloons (even in Waterdeep) where patrons dump coin into a fountain of a beautiful and naked Sune; if the fountain glows, Sune is pleased and the guest is matched up with a sexy guy or gal or both. If it doesn't glow, you're out of luck, BUT an important factoid, these priestesses are there of their own volition and are not sex-slaves, they make good money, serve their goddess and are rewarded by her. (see Downshadow, by Ed Greenwood--awesome novel I'm currently reading).
There are Sunite monks who typically follow the Way of the Sun Soul for part of its tenets falls in line with that of Church of Sune's seeking physical perfection. There's a short mention about it in 5e Sword Coast Guide.
My Talona worshiping Death cleric has been super fun to play actually! I love that you mentioned that build because rn its honestly one of my favorites I've rolled up so far.
any tips on how to go about worshiping her? one of my characters is a priest of Talona and I feel like I've hit a wall, it's hard to preach about a god of an evil domain from a reasonable point of view.
@@aryatale5232she is depicted as chaotic evil but in reality she seems very tame compared to most especially since their priests sometimes sell and make poisons and antidotes for disease and poison and are even poison testers for kings and queens honestly I could a neutral good worshiper of talona like they come into a plague ridden town they decide to cure everyone and then convert the town into talona worshipers this keeping them from harm of plagues and poison and from incurring her wrath again
Good stuff man. keep them coming....after u do the gods u should spotlight characters that are in the world. They are some very cool characters in the novels that would catch peoples attention i bet.
Talons I think is a great god for more chaos centric “big bad”. I would want to play her much less evil and more of. Chaotic force or will. Ever pushing for the world out of “boring” order and balance.
you should do a series on pathfinder lore. i love how pathfinder lore incorporates the planets of the solar system and what not. i guess you would also be covering starfinder lore to(cause they are the same universe) but i'd love that too
One thing to keep in mind is that Sune's followers are quick to heal and capable of compassion, and a disfiguring scar can become beautiful once a person relieves themself of the shame and resolves their will to push forward confidantly. Charisma is not comeliness.
I think a villain who worships Sune would be far more compelling. An insane, dead eyed assassin or crime boss obsessed with making everything beautiful. Not terribly original, but fun to be sure.
Very nice video! I thought you would mention Adon, a cleric of Sune in the company of Kelemvor, Midnight and Cyric during the time of troubles that suffered a scar and after his goddess forsake him, he quit worshiping her. Do you think that characters of any aligment could worship evil gods (such as Shar) if they have a good reason for it?
Personally I like the idea of clerics of any alignment following evil deities. I had a Neutral cleric of Asmodeus in a game whose family had been in an extended contract with Asmodeus so worshiping him is just what you did, like it or not, and he did not like it. In an online game I played a Chaotic Neutral cleric of Loviatar. Focusing on pain as existence rather than torture. It can be done and I think it makes for interesting characters!
I tottaly agree. Once I felt like making a character that was a social outcast that found confort in Shar, because she is a goddess who looks over those that are unapreciated. What made me shy away from this was that Shar is often conected to evil deeds and that's not what I was looking for. Who knows. Maybe I will come back to this concept in the future. Thanks a lot for answearing!
Once played a barbarian/ranger who worshiped Malar, he was True Neutral and practiced ritualized cannibalism as a funerary custom of his tribe, but would often do the whole feast of stags thing and was pretty focused on ensuring that the woods were stocked properly with both predators and prey.
Sune is a greater diety, and detect thought is a simple level 2 spell. This means Sune is well aware of every thought her followers have ever had about her in a lewd fashion. food for thought.
i actually just started DMing for a group of friends, using Talona and Zuggtmoy (Fungi & rot trying to claim poison& disease onto its own portfolio), cause they are associated its makes for a fun twist if they dont figure it out
You could play a pestilence domain cleric they deal in disease and decay its homebrew i think and really lesser known but if you wanted to play as a priest of talona pestilence domain cleric is perfect
I always find it funny when you use generic pictures from Pathfinder in these videos, but using a picture of Shelyn at 1:23 when talking about Sune is hilarious. She's also the goddess of beauty and love, but she carries around a glaive that she took from the god of pain, (which is what she is leaning on in the picture) and is just a little different from Sune.
Yeah art is limited for the style I want to do. I take some leniency when the right picture works. You should see the Magic the Gathering folks that get upset with me when I use a picture that they believe has nothing to do with the content.
So glad that you pronounced Sune right. If you think that pronouncing it sooneh rather than sune like dune is right then explaine how there isn't an extra syllible in Sunite. It would be Suneite if it was pronounced like that. Don't ever take eloqution lessons from voice actors.

yep! I missed this one. Thanks for the correction :D
I believe it's mentioned in the lore (can't remember where) that the pronunciation of Sune's name varies by region, so both of these are okay.
".. I like the Weird Evil Gods" -Jorphdan (Walks the dark side)
4:02
"Evil people follow Talona..."
"Nothing more than checks and balances... wouldn't you agree?"
- The Malagent
"Jorphdan with a PhD in forgotten lore"
luke rood damn skippy
"... The PhD is silent." That would be neat.

Sune is the goddess of Instagram
0:30 "I'm warning you, with Peace and Love, that I have too much to do. So no more prayers, thank you, thank you."
Awesome, been looking forward to the Sune video, she plays a major role in my current campaign.

I don't know if anyone else has asked yet, but I'd love to see something about Eilistraee. She's become my favorite deity in the Realms recently.
Talona is and always has been my favorite of the gods, so this was a fun little video, even if the info wasn't anything I didn't already know.
Been waiting for this video for some time. Mainly because in a campaign I’m playing a tiefling paladin who a follower of Sune
Things to do while visiting Waterdeep -
Sit outside the Temple of Beauty and do some "bird watching."
I’ve been reading the old Avatar Series and the character Adon is a Sune cleric. His actions make more sense now
Welcome back! Additionally, thank you for yet another insightful video that will most definitely not inspire much distress and lamination for my players XD

I'm just happy that we are two steps closer to my favorite deity: Tymora. :)

It’s interesting how often these polar opposite gods and goddesses appear right next to each other alphabetically
There are Sunite monks who typically follow the Way of the Sun Soul for part of its tenets falls in line with that of Church of Sune's seeking physical perfection. There's a short mention about it in 5e Sword Coast Guide.
I was just reading through Deities and Demigods. Well timed.

TORM! THE LOYAL FURY WILL SOON BE UNLEASHED!
if Talona is so focused on death would her followers use Undead, maybe as guards or even vectors of plague?
I once built a Cleric of Talona, Very fun character to play.

Watching this in school. Totally worth it

Love it
Jorphdan if you make one, post about it some time.
Cool idea! So basically Vega/Claw from the Street Fighter universe ;]
Thank you Jorphdan!
Very nice video!

Awesome stuff. I'm really excited for the racial deities especially Yondalla
You forgot with sune her and her following believe if your ugly you must be evil with no middle ground.
Talona sounds alot like the dark lord of Borca Ivana Boritsi from Ravenloft, at least as far as the whole kiss of death and immunity to poison goes
Wait I'm confused why do Talona and her followers even care about curing their diseases?
If you are the only ones with the cure, it can be a very powerful tool.
Talona fought our worlds Kiputytto and won, in my campaign Kiputytto killed Talona and assumed her role in the Forgotten Realms.
Sune is a greater diety, and detect thought is a simple level 2 spell. This means Sune is well aware of every thought her followers have ever had about her in a lewd fashion. food for thought.
If I may throw in my vote for racial deities: Arvoreen is so interesting, but rarely discussed.
Please do Tiamat
That photo of Romeo and Juliet is my favorite version of it lol
So good :D
I need some great stuff for my storm sorcerer/tempest cleric of Talos!
Next week!
Jorphdan I know, I’m excited! I’ve watched every video in the series, & cursed myself for picking someone so far down the list lol
1:37 is that Dungeons and Dragons Online? It looks a bit like it, but not quite.
i actually just started DMing for a group of friends, using Talona and Zuggtmoy (Fungi & rot trying to claim poison& disease onto its own portfolio), cause they are associated its makes for a fun twist if they dont figure it out

Is her name pronounced "soon" or "SOO-neh"?
Soo-neh I'm just assumed incorrectly
One day the PH is all that will be heard.
Tempus please
I hate what they did to Sune in 5th edition. She went from goddess of Sex, Drugs and Rock'n'Roll in 3e to goddess of Disney princesses!
It bothers me so much to hear Sune pronounced as "soon" instead of "soon-ay", even though I don't know which one is technically correct. xD
Upon closer inspection I think SOON-nee is correct
That also makes sense! And yet still makes me cringe to hear. I hate when I apply a pronunciation in my head and then discover it was wrong. xD
yup, it's SOO-nee
