      that is not even slightly true, most of the coolest weapons hit like freight trains. Godslayer's Greatsword - 10k+ damage on aow. Bolt of Gransax, Dragonking's Cragblade - have pushed both to 8k damage on aow. Messmer's Spear - 14k damage on aow. Siluria's Tree - I literally killed putrescent knight in FOUR ash of war uses. I could go on, most of the unique weapons with good ashes of war can be insanely optimised in this game.

      if you know how to build around your damage talismans (shard of alex, godfrey icon, scorpion charms, rotten winged, etc), are using basic buffs like golden vow and fgms, and are using the right physick tears, doing that much damage isn't even hard. No billion buffs with hat changing and madness self-inflicting or any of that bs, just one or two spell buffs and a physick.

      Also because there was a lot of hype around it since the weapon icon and model have been in the game since launch (IIRC there was even an item description, though I don't think its the same as the item description that ended up getting used), and a lot of people were hoping for it to be in the DLC

      @@TehCakeIzALie1 The one thing i really want modders to fix is to finally give us the lord of frenzied flame helmet. I never went to the roundtable faster to check out a boss armor than after i beat midra.
      It was not there :(

      hopefully they get progressively buffed with patches. iirc some weapons in the base game were underpowered at lauch, like the colossal weapons, and got buffs after buffs every patch, so there is hope

      The most disappointing one for me is the Greatsword of Radahn variants. Why is the weapon still scaling off INT when the weapon art deals holy damage? And more importantly, why are there two variants when it could’ve just been one weapon with 2 weapon art follow-ups out of a stance? Genuinely bad design imo, don’t know what they were thinking with that one

    They should just remove the timer (and maybe buff the damage too), I don't know what they were thinking making a weapon that has a decaying timer in a game where you quite literally have to wait for openings long enough to use the attack properly.

      I think if they extend the timer by a second or two, but allow the unlit WA to charge the blades (assuming you hit the spiny thing) that way there is a high risk move you can use to quickly charge the blade

      The way this weapon works is just poor game design, I know it's a hot take but like you said - it just doesn't flow with other game mechanics to the point where it flows in exactly the opposite direction. Maaaaaaaybe there is a build with like malenia rune, new lifesteal physic, some good defense and hp regen so you could maybe perhaps BY SOME MIRACLE beat a boss by just wailing at him and get that buffs in the process.... that's the biggest maybe of the century so still it's just a bad design. Almost like there was one dude who didn't do shit for any from game ever and now suddenly he can design a weapon mechanic, not understanding any previous design philosophy.

      They should just:
      1. Up the damage of both charges by about 50% (yes)
      2. Reduce the current buildup cost by 80%
      3. Give the second charge hyperarmor equal to the Gold Breaker Ash of War from Marika's Hammer to ensure we can actually pull it off
      If they do all that, it's still not going to be a good weapon compared to just slapping bleed on a katana or Peeler/BKTB, but it'll at least be fun to use.

      Worst part about Fromsoft when it comes to creating character gear
      Experimental stuff could be cool and great if executed correctly, but most of the time it comes out completely useless or too underwhelming compared to it's alternatives, only to become actually useful maybe in their next game(frost in DS3 to Elden Ring) or see if they somehow still decide to try again in maybe their next 2-3 games to see if it sticks

    They should remove the timer. Attacks raise the strenght of the weapon. After 10 light attacks, you get to level 2. Then level 3. If you want you can stay on level 3 forever or a very long time, or use the ash.

It is about the fact that you have to play super aggressively for it to work as intended, and playing agrgressively doesn't work against bosses. Therefore, anything that reward continuous super agressive play just doesn't fit well with the game core mechanics in my opinion.

      It used to be the boss weapon for the original plan for the Malenia fight where Miquella would asist, iirc it had rot buildup there too. Ofc now it has pretty much zero connection to the twins.

    This weapon would be awesome in a turn based RPG. The problem with all the cool shit you can do in any FROM game is that you have no window to use it unless you've completely mastered the fight, and even then it's just fluff. You're better off with power stanced straight swords L1 spamming, jump attacking/running attacking with dual curved swords, two-handed great to colossal tier weapons and so on. Too many weapon arts and incantations specifically feel useless as fuck, as though they were made for a different game where you can watch the spectacle and not get staggered out of your zero hyper armour attack that doesn't do nearly enough damage to justify using it over a regular attack.

      Not fully.. but I definitely agree with like 90 percent of this. I get its tough to balance SO much stuff and so much shit is busted or meta or whatever that its hard to balance all of it. I used to be a hardcore slave to the meta and now I enjoy using different shit thats fun. Even if its not as strong or whatever if I have fun with it ill vibe with it. Stacking poise in armor helps a ton

    I used it to beat the final boss, as a str Faith i had no dps "fast" weapon, it deals a good dps, have a nice light attack and just looks coolu fortunately, i couldn't charge it up mid fight cause the boss didn't let me attack him so often

      @@antoineguerrier2965 eh, from my testing the magic aow is just worse moonveil and the fire aow does surprisingly low damage, but i only did minor testing mid playthrough before switching to hand to hand shortly after, so i might have missed something

    When I found it, after the journey I took to find it, I was expecting either a huge troll weapon (like a broken straight sword that couldn't be broken) or an iconic throwback weapon from previous games. Finding a "meh" weapon was a worse feeling than if it had been a completely useless troll weapon lol

      This weapon is perfect if our stats worked like the bosses lol. Giga HP and giga poise, with infinite FP but no flasks.
      But alas a slight breeze sends us flying 20 feet into the air so this kinda big payoff weapons are just decoration.

    Based on the general weapon/skill design they seem to be going with here, it seems likely that the backend of the code works a bit like this:
    Base Weapon starts with 0 stacks of 'hits', using the first of three movesets and damage tables. Each hit with the weapon using that table grants a certain number of 'hit' stacks, with the light attacks granting something like 1 stack per connection (since twinblade light attacks can hit 2x each, that averages to 2 stacks per light attack) tied to a boolean check ("Did weapon connect? If yes, +1") at certain frames of the animation. For charged attacks, there is likely a small table of stack values based on how much the attack was charged up which are used instead of the +1 for lights; jumping heavy and light probably both just have set values for each check based on the length of the animation required. These stacks are checked both every second or so and after each animation, decaying by one each check.
    Once some number of 'hit' stacks are acquired (based on the numbers here I'd hazard a guess at 10 stacks), the weapon switches moveset, animation, and damage tables to the first buffed form. Then, the weapon stays in that form until either the next buff threshold is met (If we're using these number again, likely 20) or the stacks fully decay to 0. The same is true of the second level buff, but until it drops to below the first threshold and then is moved down to the set of tables for the first buff. Using the AoW on the second level buff also automatically drains all stacks, seemingly regardless of whether you get the full animation off or not (although I'd have to review the footage more carefully or do the testing on my own to be sure).
    Since the stacks are tied to hit register checks, rather than damage numbers or kills, it sits in a weird place where maximizing scaling damage on it actually reduces the likelihood of getting and maintaining the buff during regular use, while doing a stamina build with minimal damage stats where you simply focus on maximizing hits is actually rewarded with more consistent flat damage buffs and access to the higher-tier AoW. This would actually make it uniquely suited for doing a build with max vigor, mind, endurance, etc and minimal damage stats, as you would be getting more out of this weapon by investing less in base damage. It's fascinating in how much more like a traditional "skill trade-off" video game weapon it becomes when compared to normal Fromsoft weapons when that is taken into mind, with trading out lower base damage and flexibility for more consistent access to the buffs and the stronger AoW. Really not something we see From experiment with very often, at least not to this degree. I can see why it was left out of the base game, it's a very odd weapon when compared to their normal roster, and doesn't really fit well in the sandbox as a result. Especially without any similarly-designed weapons in other categories, or a clear damage advantage offered by using it, it really is just an odd duck of a weapon despite how cool it is.
    Know a lot of this is just kinda rephrasing what was said here, but hopefully this makes sense as a coding/design theory. Appreciate the weapon showcase and breakdown! I've really been wondering about this thing, but haven't had the time to do proper testing or video study. Thanks for your work!

    Fromsoft makes a weapon class which relies on mutli hits to deal damage while offering no stance damage or proper poise, also fromsoft designs bosses with 5 hit combo chains where one hit will leave you stunlocked to death most of the time.

    You need to scramble so much to get this weapon fully buffed, meanwhile the bloodfiend arm you just go "hehe I bonk with turkey leg" and it deals truckloads more damage

    it’s pretty good in my experience. I personally stuck with regular light attacks and running lights, with two handed sword talisman, holy scorpion charm, and both consecutive attack talismans. When using all 3 consecutive attack buffs (2 talisman and the cracked tear) the two handed r1 combo can do wonders. Gaining the special buff was pretty inconsistent though, I’ll either instantly reach max buff (especially fast buildup with the horseback charged heavy) or never even get the first. When optimally buffed with 18 scadutree fragments lv160, not counting the consecutive attack buffs I was getting around 2100 damage per light attack against the final DLC boss. Melts first phase, and the skill is primed and ready for the start of 2nd phase and deals 3-4k with the projectile alone. Overall a fun weapon, and imo blasphemous blade should have worked this way as well, since that’s how it works when rykard uses it in the bossfight. Where you need to build up a bar by attacking before you can use takers flames, so it rewards an engaging playstyle. (I have beef with blasphemous blade/no skill weapon skill spamming builds/jumping attack spam/status effects/any cheesy strat)

      im being honest, those numbers are actually really low considering the weapon isnt buffable, you can just replace it with 2 great spears and instantly get triple that damage with the same speed. Only difference is the euporia is rlly good against bosses that cant move... obviously that applies to comet azure as well so its not really that special considering it mimics the better variant.

    The funny thing is that in the German translation it is actually called Euphorie what is euphoria. So it's possible that the translatiors did something wrong or the h is missing.

      euporia is a greek word that refers to wealth / prosperity, and the weapon used to be called the Abundance and Decay Twinblade, so it's almost certainly the intended spelling

    It'll most likely get buffed along with a load of the other underperforming things when the first patch rolls around which will probably be quite soon given info on the steamdb depots. It being complicated and such is interesting though because a weapon being strong in a souls game doesn't matter as every single weapon is a viable way to beat the game so the only thing that matters if it changes your playstyle which this does so that's great.

      the weapons are fine, not every weapon needs to be “100 million billion L2 solider bleed build (red arrow in thumbnail) S tier build !!!!!”. that makes the game boring.

      @@undiiviidual Dude talk about completely missing the point. People aren't asking for weapons to do a billion damage.
      They're asking for endgame spells, skills, incants, and weapons to actually behave and damage like endgame skills. Shadow of the Erdtree is endgame. Every single thing that drops from this DLC should be balanced with that in mind, and it's obscene that barely anything we get in this DLC is actually powerful enough to be worth changing your build or weapon setup for.
      The vast majority of the incantations in the DLC are absolutely dogshit useless at this time against literally everything. Vanilla ER has midgame incantations that do more damage and are more reliable than most of the shit we got in this DLC. They gave us so many new weapon categories, most of which are completely useless against anything that isn't basic level fodder.

      @@0xmitsui Try casting Rain of Fire at 80 faith and see how you feel after that lol, it does less damage than Fire Sling. Many of the weapons are good but a handful of the weapons and some spells could use some work.

    Has actual numbers on the successive attack values and decay. Euporia procs at 25 and 50 and we can assume it uses the same values as other twinblades.

    Imo, if you're going to make the second tier so hard to get, the skill should be a fight ender.
    This is a secret weapon, dealing the worst damage type, with a convoluted skill and an average moveset.
    The tier 2 skill should deal a ridiculous amount of damage or they need to overhaul the whole activation mechanic and make it way easier to achieve

    This should have been Miquella’s (Abundance) or Godwyn’s (Decay) remembrance. It’s been on such a weird journey through Elden Ring’s development process. Can’t say I’m happy with how it ended up.. hidden in Belurat, stripped of all lore, as complicated as it is awkward and inn effective. I HOPE they do massive buffs to fix so much about the DLC.

    I like using Euporia while mounted, since the charge attack has you twirl the twinblade while you're fully charging it, hitting several times per attack. You can get the first buff in one full hit charged heavy, and the second buff the next one.
    Obviously this doesn't work for most bosses where you can't ride Torrent, but this is how I optimize the mechanic of Euporia

    using the uncharged ash of war should give the weapon a charge atleast, but this weapon design in a dlc with bosses like radahn and rellana seems like they didnt even think this thru, not to mention you are stuck in an animation for like 4 - 5 seconds IF you get it fully charged

    I think each hit adds duration and the charge increases the duration, so if you do all the attacks quickly you have accumulated the timer fully at once so it will appear to last longer. I'd recommend starting a timer at the time of the first hit to test this.

      i tested it pretty extensively and its more like a self inflicting status, theres no +timer per hit, its just thresholds you have to reach. the reason you can keep the first buff going so long is because it resets the duration everytime you meet the first threshold. the buff lasts 15 seconds
      and even when you hit the threshold, your total doesn't reset so getting the first threshold again can be very fast.
      and instead of each hit, it's tied to the motion value of the weapon, so an r1 does 1.5 buildup cause the first hit does 50% extra damage. while one handed each hit does 1 buildup. the total you need is 4, and a decay of -0.25, a second, the 2nd buff needs 8 total.
      fastest way to get first buff is uncharged r2 into fullycharged r2.
      It's so complicated to type out but that's the gist of it. also seeing this video show powerstance build up first buff after 4 l1's so they both count to the same total but it takes longer to swing both of them overall. my idea of making it work is to use cypher pita and hit a boss with charged r2s till you get stance break then use this and hit the boss with 4 charged r2s to get max buffs.

    A lot of the stuff we get in the DLC looks flashy but is either mediocre in damage or just too unwieldy/slow. Like that final incantation you need 72 FTH for takes forever to cast and throwing a few glintstone pebbles in the time you finish casting does more DMG at lower FP cost.

    I feel like this weapon represents how From just doesn't understand weapon balance or design very well sometimes; convoluted and underwhelming, though probably seemed cool on paper.
    it's why people end up using little toothpicks instead of these really cool weapons if they chase the optimal damage outputs, and honestly I feel like it's gotten worse over time.
    Going off topic there though; it's a nice looking weapon at least.

      It feels like they're a bit afraid to give us power. Not sure why and don't want to get into weird theories I've seen floating around.
      But their "new" boss design also doesn't help. Since most weapon movesets are reused from older games where bosses hade more generous openings, it's way harder to play with anything but a quick weapon, or spam jump R2 with large weapons.

      @@undiiviidual I'm pretty sure that if "they wanted me to play the souls game" they wouldn't willingly introduce spirit ashes and now Tears that buff them more in the DLC.
      Or new AOWs, spells etc.
      The fact than an overpowered AOW/spell/ash/whatever exists isn't great imo (or super underpowered), but ER is still a single player RPG, with some multiplier "mostly" tacked on.
      A strong AOW is a difficulty setting. Don't use it if it makes the game easy and "not souls".
      Now I'm not saying insane outliers are OK.
      For example - Carian Sov. AOW looks cool, but I also feel it's way too strong to use and can ruin some fights.
      Bringing everything semi in-line is better than "gutting" stuff.
      Options are key in an RPG.

    I did several Twinblade runs, infusing it with Bleed or Frostbite is always the optimal use for these weapons.
    One of my favorite weapon types in the game by style points alone, that being said, Euporia need some tweaks.

    Was watching you test it live, and wow... What a disappointing weapon. Even if it worked how you described later on in the video, it still wouldn't be overpowered. FROM was way, way too conservative with euphoria.

    It's probably not a timer but a meter that get filled with a vertain amount on hits. Limit Breakers did a video a few years ago about the Old Wolf Curved Sword and Pontiffs Left Eye ring from DS3 that work similarly.
    Would make sense that they coded it like those.

    Some reasons why Euphoria is so popular are because;
    It is super well hidden, requires effort to acquire - think about how strong and prepared one needs to be just to get to the DLC, let alone how late into it one gets it
    twin blades are cool - the overall design is dope
    typing is interesting and rare
    AoW seems interesting at first glance - and it looks awesome
    Hopefully it gets buffed

    The same way there's multiple smithscript weapons for example.
    I would've wished for a greatsword or ultra greatsword like that.

    I just picked it up with my fourth character, that has bare minimum dexterity.
    The other three all got killed after pikcing up the scadutree fragment leading up to it by that lion-headed freak and I could not be bothered to go back there with all that fromsoft platforming(tm) leading up to it.
    Seems like an interesting weapon though. Also, a lot of good weapons in concept in the dlc needs some buffs. Another that comes to mind is the Poleblade of the Bud, it's a neat concept but really falls short imo, an ash of war that gets cancelled with a gust of wind, other rot weapons proc it more consistently and faster, and the other weapons with similar movesets have either better ash of war or are infuseable and do more damage by default.

    I remember telling my brother how i got this awesome weapon hidden on some very obscure path, and how it shined when hitting enemies a lot!
    I then spent the next 15 minutes trying to get the thing to actually shine, because it didnt want to work with messmer's fire knights for some reason?
    So sad about that

    I would use it more but being staggered out the ash of war and attempting to activate the beam really sucks. I feel like it should have had a more unique ash of war instead of a spinning weapon reskin + beam when luster is generated. Maybe if during it's spin, would be cool if it acted as a shield during that duration. I feel luster build up should be kept till being activated since it can decay when held overtime and as a bonus if the luster is just kept, could give it bonus damage.

    i use it in the left hand stanced with the black steel. so i have a more practical ash for most of the time and a cool off hand, then 2h the euporia in ideal situations and on torrent for the multi hit R2

    i believe the weapon description states that it does not work on those who live in death, and i’ve gotten quite a few hits on the final boss w it, which makes me think the boss qualifies as one who lives in death. which i guess sorta makes sense

    here's the 3 buffs it'd need to be viable
    1. Make the buff and the AOW different, keep the buff based off hits and duration. So it gives you a damage bonus for keeping aggresion, make the AOW build up enough to get a stage 1 of the buff. Not the buff being needed for the AOW, so you can use the AOW to get the buff quicker.
    2. Increase the damage, by like ALOT or give it hyper armor and tracking and a slight damage boost. Make the damage dealt by the AOW beam be based off the damage you dealt to get there, so if you did like 30k damage to get there you would do 30k, this would be fine considering spinning slash exists and is way faster, safer and does better stagger build up.
    3. Make it have just more base damage and scaling, there isn't a reason to use it over bleed or frostbite, frostbite's damage boost being quicker to get doesn't help either.
    These are my idea's, they might sound like a bit much but with shit like chilling mist (instant frostbite) spinning slash (instant bleed) and well... backhand blades. There isn't actually a good reason to use Euporia, only thing I can think of to make it better is have it scale with your incant scaling as well or something. There just isn't a reason to use this, you basically give up an AOW until you've done half the bosses health, to get an attack that does maybe 40% more damage than just doing r1's.

    i found the weapon to be doing amazing damage when i used it. play the game the way you should and not how you think you should IE use summons, spells, etc. (basically not a "ethical" playthrough) i found i get the full charge quite often due to a boss being distracted and as a dex holy build (because this weapon scales Faith/dex more than Faith/str) if i get the ash of war off, im practically guaranteed the boss dying. i did it to mohg and watched his entire health bar vanish like it was comet pre nerf.
    idk why people are saying the damage sucks. i havent found anything that matches it, and this is coming from someone who loves his ancient dragon lightning strikes and dual gravel stones.

    it's a solid and fun weapon, and the skill is a cool gimmick that rewards aggressive and strategic play, basically like the Prosthesis/Winged Sword Insignia but as a weapon buff with a unique ranged attack as the reward instead of generic "x% more damage" self buff. even if patches don't buff it, i suspect it will be a sleeper hit that becomes super popular once the right PvP e-celeb does a video/stream with it
