Freddie's voice and personality are unique and recognizable among millions. His work is the music of the century. Queen's phenomenon in music was and remains the unique harmony of their voices, which no one can imitate, because Freddie laid the foundation for it in his work, and this group of fantastic multitalents has become a music classic to this day.

I hate to be that person but just one correction: Freddie was 16 when he left boarding school and went back to Zanzibar. When he was 17 there was a revolution in Zanzibar and the Bulsara family fled to London. Freddie was incredibly talented but also had a work ethic that drove himself and everyone else around him to be their best. I saw Queen in 1977 and was struck by how charismatic Freddie was, he genuinely wanted the fans to have a wonderful time and wanted the fans to know the band were having a great time playing for them. He also was a gifted piano player with marvellous rhythm. To this day it was the best concert I have been to!

Freddie Mercury was much more than a rock star.
He was a genius, a huge talent.
He was a brave, strong man.
His music is the music of beauty and freedom, eternal.
Freddie Mercury was an educated, intelligent, versatile person with a special charisma.
Freddie was extremely reserved and intimate.
"Don't worry about my life, worry about my music," he said.
    Freddie was a Zoroastrian Persian.
He has been a British subject since birth
He was born into a wealthy, very decent family
He received an excellent education, but as Freddie was very gifted, his soul was very sensitive, and the distance of the boarding school from his home caused Freddie a deep injury.
He could never recover from this.
He was a generous, extremely good man, and a peculiarly interesting complex complicated character
Don't try to decipher Freddie, you don't know.
    An eternal secret.

Oh, so sad. I remember when Freddie publicly announced that he had AIDs. The next day his obituary was in the paper. I was shocked. I cut the article from my local paper and saved it in my pantry for years. This was so sad. I've read so many articles about the suffering that Freddie had and how awful this was. His partner Jim also passed away from AIDs a few years later. I lost a childhood friend to AIDs. He did not reveal to me what he had because of how he was treated by his closest friends. This was a terrible time and terrible virus to be afflicted with no hope for the future. Missing Freddie. ❤🌸🌹.

But it is a well known fact that he was able to benefit from newer medications that were not available when Freddie was alive. I am not a medical expert in HIV, AIDS, but from every biography and documentary that I have seen & read, it was said that he actually died from lung cancer. Sure having hiv did not help. But that is a true fact. He died in 2010 at age 60. Even though he was hiv positive , cause of death is listed as lung cancer. I loved Freddie, and was very upset when I came home that evening to hear on the news that he'd gone. He was a real character, so flamboyant and a natural showman, it was great to watch him on stage. Yet, at the same time, when behind closed doors with close friends, he could also be just a normal down to earth guy. Although he obviously enjoyed the time he did have, and loved to entertain, he was taken far too soon. At least the memories and his music will live on forever. I just wish his music didn't have to live on through bloody Adam Lambert though. Freddie was irreplaceable and it just isn't Queen without him. You have a right to disagree of course, but Freddie always said he was just lead singer & 1/4 part of Queen in many interviews. Brian & Roger were good musicians & singers & song writers for Queen. They have a right to continue as Queen IMHO. In all fairness Lambert does say at every concert, he is not trying to be Freddie. I would not be interested in seeing them now, but many are & enjoy. And I have to try to remember that Freddie's not here anymore , Iv always loved Queen but this obsession only came out about 5. Years ago .Am I in need of professional help? When I read all the comments from all the fans ,it does give me some hope , I don't think I'll ever be a non/fan ,but this obsession is starting to worry me .Sorry about the rambles . I have to admit, I felt a little strange standing in line arm and arm waiting to buy the tickets. Do you remember the last time we saw a movie together, mum asked? Smiling, I turned. Just seeing her like that, in that moment, excited! The last time any of us had seen mum smile like that was two days before dad past away? Twelve years of trying everything to see that smile and there in that Iine ready to buy tickets I felt Iike I was about cry, then I remembered? Towering Inferno! At the drive in with aunt, Colleen. You and her got the wrong dates or something? God! I would have been around 10 then? Mum laughing and began filling me in on the rest of what my brothers and I hadn't a clue of? And in an attempt to embarrass me she started to singing the first few lines of, Grease, You're the one that I want, right there in line. The movie they went to see and you know how that ended? Right then I couldn't have cared if she sang the whole damn song. Cause there she was! That beautiful carefree sprit infecting all those in line with her energy. We moved up to the window.
Two middle, top center to, Bohemian Rhapsody please! I can feel mum squeezing my arm. Deciding we'd share a drink we grab popcorn and went and got comfortable. All the time mum was full of beans only settling when the light dimmed.
That hour and whatever that we laughed and cried, she at the movie, me at her. She was so happy! And sad but that happy sad. As the lights began to brighten we sat there till everyone had left.
Did you like mum asked? I could watch it again now it was that good! Yeah right mum said, hitting me lightly on the arm. I was deadly serious. And told her I was going to buy the tickets and if she didn't have to go to the bathroom I would've had her. Sitting there waiting I thought about telling my brothers what had been happening but that could wait. And there it was like I'd knew it would be. Ready to go home mum? And arm and arm we left. It felt like a cruel joke? I've been so angry but It's only now I realize that out of all the things I could have wished for those two hours were a gift. Everything after dad to that point, and those few months after I've erased. That's all I need to take with me from here on. Although I'm happy sad it's a beginning to a end .
And I never did tell my brother's maybe that was a good thing? Now I'm going to sit down and watch a movie 😉

It's disappointing to hear the narrator say " He was diagnosed with AIDS ".
One is diagnosed as being HIV +ve. Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome being a manifestation of the 'Syndrome'
. Disappointing its still subject to disinformation.
That aside QUEENS music is still viable. It was a dreadful era filled with so much loss - UNECESSSARILY loss ... Think what scientific advances may have been made when it was needed had Ronald Raygun not cruelly cut funding into much neede research. Thankfully times have changed for some who live with the disease , particularly in the West. Millions are still dying families devastated in many other parts of the World. One of the best bands of all time, and a top 2 voice of all time. Watching this, it’s really understandable as to why he kept his private life private. He seemed that he didn’t want his parents to know about his sexuality because of their religion, and probably didn’t know how they would respond if he did say something. The last album Queen released “Innuendo,” just shows how powerful of a voice Freddie had. The Show Must Go On is in my opinion a top 5 song of all time, and the way he sang that song with how ill and near to the end of his life, it was so beautiful.

They are for a while but not during the death which takes a long time with agonal gasping and other things. contrary to what people think family members are not present during it. it is possible one or two could simply sit there and watch it but it would be rare.

I got into Queen in 1989 and always thought the singer looked Indian. Later found out he was a bawa (only an Indian will get that tern!) from Zanzibar with roots in Bombay. I met Roger Taylor briefly when he came to India in 1997 but didn't have the courage to ask about Freddie and if he had been to some of his childhood haunts of Freddie, here in the city. I guess it would've been awkward. Anyways just pre covid met his cousin Jehangir who lived at Dadar Parsee colony, a half hours drive from my place- Jehangir was close to Freddies parents. His first errr...girlfriend Geeta Choksi (then Barucha) lives 5 mins down the road. Met a classmate of his in 2019 who kept referring to him as Farrokh never Freddie.
