Class of 1976. I was bummed at first, since I had never roomed with another person. At my family home I always had my own bedroom. My first room mate was a real dick,....he told me on day one, he was already a drunk,....and he looking forward to getting smashed every night, and he told me he drank most nights until he passed out. In addition he told me he liked to keep a trash can next to his pillow so he could puke at will. He did exactly that,...was drunk every day and night, and I had to sleep less the 5 feet from his bedside, vomit bucket. It was so gross and it stunk up the whole room. After just a couple of weeks, I begged for a room change,....but there weren't any extra rooms. If someone dropped out, I was first on the list, to transfer. The guys I became friends with on my floor, offered to beat my room-mate up, & shun him, in hopes of driving him to drop out.
Luckily some fellows on another floor, dropped out, and I was given a double occupancy dorm room. It was huge, larger then my childhood bedroom. Eventually that drunken asshole fellow, flunked out. I never saw him again. One of my new dorm friends and I, felt we were compatible enough to become room-mates. We roomed together in our sophomore year. We could move to outside housing, for our junior and senior years. Besides that stinky room-mate, I liked dorm living. I met a lot of people from all over the country, and even some foreign people. I had a regular group of guys who became my core, group of friends. We remained connected after college, for many years.

It was too cramped. I moved to an apartment building Sophomore year and was much happier.
