    Thank you for your Video. Can you suggest any alternative chemical other than Hydrochloride Acid for aluminum Etching. Thank you

    Does it etch deep enough to paint the whole surface afterwards and then sand it off leaving the etch painted? Thanks for posting the video and tutorial!

      Potter's Work I have not tried this, but I believe the etch is deep enough for this to work.

      I did an acid etch this last weekend and using Muriatic acid and hydrogen peroxide. worked great. Used some tips from your video as well. Thanks!

    Thank you for your video Owl Fab, It's great content and well made!!! I have one question tho, my DC power supply only run up to 30V and 5A. Is it enough? Thanks in advance.

    what kind of solution do you use for that etching?

    can i use plastic sellotape or something like PVC electrical insulation tape? as an etching mask or resist?and if not why not?

    • @owlfab6696

      +Pero Vaper Sure you can. How long it remains adhered will be the limiting factor.

    That came out so clean and precise. how many volts were you running to etch?

    • @owlfab6696
      @owlfab6696  7 років тому +2

      Suedzville It ran at 10v-11v and 10A. My power supply is capable of 30v/10A and was turned all the way up.

    how can i put paint on letters...is it possible to use in outside.? pls replay

    • @owlfab6696
      @owlfab6696  6 років тому

      Sreejith I would paint the whole thing after etching, then sand the plate on a flat surface. Paint will remain in the etched areas. As long as you use exterior paint it will be fine outside

    and how do we call that power supply unit?

    • @owlfab6696
      @owlfab6696  7 років тому +1

      +U Khun Wan Htut The electrolyte is a saturated sodium chloride solution. Just mix table salt into warm water until it won't dissolve more. The power supply is a generic 30v / 10A unit that I purchased from eBay. AliExpress has them too.

      +Solaro Studios I believe it's called fun tack, used for putting posters on walls. I used it to seal the spots where the tape seal might fail.

    how many volt/ampere minimum to make it work ?

    • @davidjohnston1971
      @davidjohnston1971 6 років тому +1

      You don't need electricity at all, you can cold etch, but it takes a lot longer and requires more brushing off of the surface. Lower and slower will produce a sharper finish etch, too much can undercut the stencil and ruin the sharp lines. Owl Fab uses a very mild electrolyte, just salt and water, which works fine, and can take higher volt/amps. You can add white vinegar to that salt water solution making it act faster, but you would lower your volts/amps. There are many different electrolyte solutions you can make/use, ferric chloride, dilute muriatic acid, (these should only be used with very good ventilation as they put off nasty fumes.)

      Fuck you for NOT answering Tedi Sopian's question!! Whahahahaaaaa! So i'll do it for you fucker! 9 volts and 2 amps will work already. I usually work wit 12v and 6 to 10 amps depending on material and object size.
