      Avec des clés, on sent mieux la visserie au bout des doigts. Avec des outils pneumatiques, on peut faire de gros dégâts avec un couplé de serrage tro fort. Surtout sur de vénérables mécaniques.

    Wonderful old tractor. So refreshing to watch you using spanners without the universal impact gun so favoured nowadays. Spanners and wrenches really give a mechanic the feel of the job. I bet too many modern mechanics over torque stuff. Great channel keep up the good work, from the UK.

      Electric impacts are really handy for getting small nuts and bolts unstuck. I have a tendency to pry too hard on small stuff taking it apart. An electric impact set on low is far more patient than I am lol.

    sometime the head gasket becomes compressed around studs among other things, making it difficult to remove the old gasket and or the head, like a royal enfield, if it is a "stepped"head with a resistive baffling cut into head and cylinder often back then no head gasket was needed ( head without warpage). Most people watching have not worked with a solid copper head gasket before and do not understand annealing the copper making a gasket out of copper or hammer cutting a gasket in general, all good skills to learn. Thank you for your wonderful videos👍

      It's not uncommon for modern marine diesels to use a fire ring or sealing recess instead of a head gasket. This is also true of a lot of the European multi-cylinder air-cooled engines such as VW/Porsche designs or air-cooled diesels.

    • @YesterdaysMachinery
      @YesterdaysMachinery  3 роки тому +2

      Thanks! Yes, the gasket can deform a bit when already used as you say, but the cylinder head was quite a bad fit aswell. And the studs were straight and clean. Wasn't that bad anyway. Just some easy tapping with the plastic hammer. I have now used the tractor for a couple of hours and seems to be sealed up well 😊
      Thanks/ Richard!

    My father used to work with and on tractors like this when he was young, working in the fields and also servicing them, those were single-cylinder types (HSCS G-35), but the principle was the same. He speaks no English but I showed him your work and he told me to relay his appreciation. Greetings from Hungary! Keep it up! :)

    Hello from Canada. We were taught in high school auto shop class (1970's) to cut gaskets for iron or steel parts by holding the material against the face and then tapping lightly with a ball pein hammer around the edges of the gasket face. The metal will cut a perfect fitted gasket. I still use the technique today.

      Maybe cooling the hot copper in water makes it even more soft than letting it cool by it self. But this is enough. Im suprised how well a used copper gasket works. Every time.

    I've stripped engines that have had trees growing through them on my channel. I always soak the nuts and studs before applying heat, or the heat burns off all the release oil before it even gets past the first thread. I did damage a couple of threads though, which is when I first heard of ANC threads. What a job to get a hold of in the UK.

      Got a blasting cabinet, but sandblasting is not good for this. I dont want a raw steel surface on the parts. This tractor will absolutely not be repainted. Original is original just once. Here in Sweden, original shape can be so important that if you clean oily dirt and stuff from the tractor, you keep the dirt and put it in a box that will follow the tractor if sold. Yes it's true.

    To anneal copper, you need to get it cherry red, then throw it into cold water.

      Copper anneals at 400c, cherry red is about 800c and quenching achieves nothing but cooling the copper fast, quenching has no affect on the hardness of copper
