Josh, as someone who is HORRIFIED of this game in every facet. This is one of my favorite games ever made. I understand your pain as well. I genuinely stopped playing this game for a time because i was so horrified of wandering around thinking about what i might find in there. Only for me to come back and explore this game more, shaking in my metaphorical boots only to force myself to go deeper and found one of the most magical experiences in a game and a world i have ever seen.

Subnautica is designed to be a terror game not a horror game. There’s no intended jump scares or creepy monsters, but the atmosphere causes you mind to make up the monsters.

Idk if Josh just pulled random sea monster sounds or something but if there's even a vague possibility that he plays barotrauma my excitement just went through the roof. I also suffer from severe thalassophobia. First found it out while scuba diving off the coast of Florida while on vacation. Didn't know it transferred to video games until playing Witcher 3 and clearing ship wrecks in the northern region at night when I discovered the game has whales. All I saw was a giant shadow coming straight at me in the distance and I had an actual panic attack. I can't play this game past the surface level.

I'm glad to see my favorite two monster hunters playing another of my favorite games. Oh I have a few tips, reefbacks are pacive, reapers are hostile, their is no such thing as to much titanium, and don't go to the ecologically dead zone aka the void unless you want to experience under water hell. P. S. The game has a very loose storyline so the radio and pdas in wrecked pods are going to help you find your way around the crater aka world of subnautica. HAVE FUN GUYS 🙂
This definitely seems like a 'Cotton should be playing' type of game. Progress is gonna end up hard to get done with Josh's pace. And hey, I can relate. I got Thalassophobia myself and this is definitely I game I couldn't play myself.

This is honestly such a trip for me. I dont mean to be sadistic about this because I don't like that this is so terrifying for you. But also I am aware that fear of the open ocean is a super common thing but its one I don't have *at all*. I *love* the open ocean and creative mode in subnautica is basically my idea of paradise (because oxygen is annoying but I love everything about the under water.) And its endlessly interesting to be able to quite literally see the ocean through the eyes of someone who finds it absolutely terrifying.

Just an FYI for when you do this in multiplayer, there is a hatch on the bottom of the life pod you can use to enter and exit the lifepod faster.
