I'm definitely with Cotton. The game is _very_ different if you don't suffer from thalassaphobia as much as Josh does, and they're still in the shallow parts of the world. It is going to get so much worse
This game is actually one of the only games that can cause almost every single one of my fears can be spiked. Megalophobia(fear of large objects or creatures) Thalassophobia(fear of the ocean) Nyctophobia(fear of the dark/whats in the dark) Vorarephobia(fear of being eaten alive) Skelephobia(fear of skeletons) And yes. I am a little bitch. I'm scared of a lot of things and this game makes them all go off-
Unless you're like me. I have SEVERE thalassophobia, but mainly in real life. I fucking hate water I can't see into. But most games don't scare me that much. Very few manage to actually terrify me. One of the only ones I can remember is Sons of the Forest. Going out to sea on a tiny life raft and seeing a massive great white just horrified me. I fell into the water, and it was just the most primal fear imaginable. That shit was awful. And Subnautica didn't really scare me that much. It was a bit ominous, and the leviathans scared me a bit, but not more than most people who played the game I'd imagine. Hell I even played it in VR and it wasn't that bad.
IMPORTANT: All of your ships, including the glide, have lights!! Yes, lights! you can now make Josh explore in the dark without an excuse anymore than he cant see!
The time draws near. The inevitable encounter with the Bigger Fish. Goodness knows Josh would never touch Subnautica mods. I'm pretty sure the Garg would give him a heart attack.
Part of me wants to see how Josh and Cotton would react to the Gargantuan Leviathan mod, I’d imagine Cotton would be trying to talk Josh out of a tree for mouths if they did have it
TIP: I don't know if you guys are just cutting it off but when ever you pick up the blue PDA tablet that people left, there's like a black box system that transfer the other crews Recordings on your own PDA for you to listen to and get a sense of what's happening to them. You might want to check your PDA.
Don't worry Josh, the zone around the Aurora is the safest area in the game. The radiation killed everything around it. In matter of fact, you should bring a repair tool, you need to use it to stop radiation from leaking. Otherwise that place will remain barren and lifeless. 😞
As a fellow haver o Thalassophobia I respectfully mus tell ya to shove off. There's a whole ass fucker in those waters. The sheer anxiety o bein in that area was horrid.
Firstly you can hold your scanner out and self scan! Then to inform you about the Sunbeam, there has been logs about the distress beacon from the Aurora, after it was shot down, and the Sunbeam did a scan of the world and said they could try and met any survivors at those coordinates as it was the best land they could find. It isn't a designated spot for rendezvous on this uncharted planet XD
I suppose base-building is the only real relief when Josh isn't safely on land. But I do recall the sudden ancient aliens angle when the game was really popular in the public conscience. But of course, the deeper you get..... the bigger the fish.
4:00 These questions are why reading the survivor's PDA's are important. The escape pod's computer detected the dry land above it and sent the coordinates to the officer in the pod. Wait, this info was actually stated IN THE MESSAGE THAT GAVE YOU THE WAYPOINT FOR THE FIRST OFFICER'S POD! Eh, to be fair, spoken info doesn't get absorbed well.
To save you unnecessary back and forth, the propulsion cannon is useful for the aurora. I think you can find fragments in the areas with the red grass.
I love how they are like “yeah, we know nothing about this, we have not been told what’s going on” while not reading all the data entries from the pads they’ve been collecting that literally tell the entire story
Knowing the story while watching this is great. I have so much foresight into what Josh and Cotton are/arent doing, mainly what Josh is refusing to do.
The fact that Josh is constantly asking "What is going on?" and isn't scanning everything, as evidenced by him not scanning the pedestals and the Weapon Control, is seriously making me twitch. While it doesn't explain everything right away, there is so much that the scans tell you that helps things make sense.
Josh, there is not real reason to kill any creature in Subnautica. You get nothing from it. You get stalker teeth by being near them. They’re teeth will sometimes break off when they grab scrap metal and you can pick it up. You can make this easier by feeding them peepers and bringing them the metal to expedite the process.
I like seeing Josh overcome his fears and murder the stalkers while Monster hunter music is playing. It reminds the monsters that they’re facing the Monster hunter. Once you get to the „larger things” or get off the planet it would be a crime not to play proof of a hero or some sort of victory theme
I feel like when Josh goes to the Aurora 1 of 2 thing will happen: 1: He has a LITERAL heart attack after meeting the "locals" and drops the game right then and there. OR 2:... NO actualy only one thing is guaranteed to happen...
