Whole lot of adults in here missing the point of these sets. Monster Jam is huge for little kids in the 3-8 or 10 kind of range, like my 5 year old. We had all six of these and I actually found this video when googling hoping they had more sets coming. They are great builds for kids that age and the B builds were lots of fun too. Bummer to see the collaboration is done.
The small(ish) new Technic set I´m most curíous about is the 42169 Formula E car because of the first time combination of pull-back and (hopefully fixable) steering function. The mixed tire set also looks more promising than what we got in the 50-Euro car category before.
i wasn't a huge fan of all of the Monster Jam pullback trucks, but I liked the idea. For the most part, they were rough around the edges and were not going for accuracy. When Technic goes for accuracy - it usually comes at the expense of both FUN FEATURES and AFFORDABILITY. That's why I don't like this new direction.
While there are some interesting building techniques in it, I feel like this is a missed opportunity to add new types of wheel arch panels, especially if we'll be getting more of such E Race sets with different branding. Also I would love to see this having some kind of suspension for additional playability.
This set is quite number of steps back from the Monster Jam based sets I feel; more expensive than before and while I don't doubt it is more interesting to build, it seems....bland somehow? It could be to do with it being a bit of a one-trick-pony as it doesn't offer B-models like the previous sets of this price range and size did; it's an issue that's shared with the Bulldozer set as that set and this one doesn't really do much
The reason being, that shiny new McLaren license. I loved the build though. Haven't touched the stickers, but I like the colors and a more practical pull-back car, even if I'll never use that feature.
Doubt, it's the licence since they have been working with McLaren for years. Even if it was, there's 10 different teams to pick from (going off Forza Horizon 5) if it was too pricey for McLarens team livery. Lego just seems a little eager to hike prices and test the water on how much they can charge
Except they're not hiking the price on everything. It's a bigger and more complex build than the previous Monster Jam sets. Heck, even the March one is the same as the Mustang was in 2022. Then you've got some themes that have had excellent prices for what you get.
Oh man I hope you are wrong about the monster jam series being cancelled, I am a huge fan of them I’ve even modified all mine to remove the front bumpers so they look way more like the actual trucks. That being said this car does look good but I’m still not a fan of the pull back motors obviously I understand why they exist I just personally don’t like them. I hope you get a chance to ask the designers if the monster jam series will continue or not. Thank-you for another great review. Take care & hi from Canada
I built the mclaren set on January 2nd and I think it‘s a good car. But less stickers, a few prints and a suspension would have made the model excellent.
i didn't like it at first, but after i modified car by handmade seat and improved front part it looks amazing. i mean lego really needed to add extra 5-10 details to make this set look much better
I love the Grave Digger, whenever I saw them on sale I would buy another. So my most frequent purchases were the OG Bat Mobile, Grave Digger and the Star Wars Legion 501. I am not a re seller but maybe I might trade.
So they replaced the interesting body designs in the Monster Jam sets with yet another car. I ended up quite liking the Monster Jam sets due to the different body shapes and designs.
I got this yesterday and found my old monster jam one, i tightly manage to fit the pullback from monster jam to the neom, pretty fast acceleration, wouldn't recommend it tho
I got all the monster jam sets, even though I have no interest whatsoever in monster trucks. But their b models looked very neat. Since this one doesn't have that and the model isn't particularly pretty, I don't think I'll be picking this up.
Well, I was interested in this set until I saw how small it is compared to the Monster Jam series, and it's $10 more (in Canada)! Couple that with the next wave of Speed Champions already going up to $35 CAD and I'll definitely be waiting for sales on these. I used to buy them right away but not anymore. :(
Never really cared about B models tbh. Most of them seemed like full off compromises builds due to “build with only these bits” approach and you have to take apart main build which is annoying if you are the person who have your builds on the shelf (StarWars Boost set was good example how B sets should be done). Having that said I’ve bought additional sets for some just to have B set on the display. Personally believe B set needs a bit more love, better suited parts and its own box on the shelf in the store.
I really like 42166 NEOM McLaren Extreme E Race Car! But I guess that's not surprising since I'm a fan of 42160 Audi RS Q e-tron. I'll have to settle for this smaller technic set since the powered one is way too pricey! 😅 Great video, thank you for always giving us great content!
I pointed the megalodon set out to my son 5 or 6 times over 9 months. He never acted interested. Then this year it was on his xmas list. So bummed out, i couldnt find one local, and all the ones online were too expensive.
I won't miss the Monster Jam sets as they were getting a bit samey to me- I much prefer when Lego designers invent their own unique vehicles with different layouts and different tyres. As for this set, it's just too much money for a pullback set. The cheaper buggy offers way more play features and the colour scheme is more interesting imo.
Honestly i like that they are gone, i would love if they just returned to unlicensed small models that we had until 2019? i think... No need for only licensed sets, just look at the 8070, unlicensed, still looks like a viper
@chataclysm2112 you are giving me mega nostalgia at the mention of racers drome era!! I used to love those sets. I think my first bigish LEGO set was a truck that carried a Dragster from that era. What a wild time
I'm curious how many people actually built the B models... I wonder if Lego did some focus groups to determine and learned that very few do. If I had learned that and I'm in their position, I would likely rather focus my design resources on more A models than A and B models... B models consume some resources.
I built a lot of them :) I'm sure one of the reasons for transitioning to digital instructions for B models was to be able to measure how many downloads they have compared to the total amount of sets sold.
Lego contract with Monster Jam finished. I believed Lego with Mclaren contract will be finished by end of 2024. Lego is pushing hard with Mclaren this year. Mclaren Extreme E Race , Mclaren Formula E , Rumor news - Mclaren F1 Senna & Speed Champion Mclaren F1 (76919)
It is always a great pleasure to watch your videos ! The new 42166 includes a b-model. The pure car is model a, and applying the stickers converts it to the b-model...😅
The pull back cars are absolute garbage anyways as I am a adult LEGO fan. I feel like the 42166 set was a letdown as it looks kind of like the Audi e tron but at a smaller scale. It would had been a little bit better with the ratchet mechanism we got for the Porsche or the Mustang
@@RacingBrick It is not known why the sets of the monster jam series will not be released this year, Lego so far has not justified this decision, that is, you can not say that the series is definitely dead, because the fact that it will not be released this year does not mean that it is dead, I thought you might have some information about this but as you can find out from this video, you do not know either. Well, but some title of the film has to be given and after all, a name like "I don't know what's going on with the monster jam series" is not as interesting and eye-catching as "monster jam is dead" already understand?
I'm still rather bothered by lego doing any sort of collaboration with Neom. The company is notorious for peddling scams and their labor practices are atrocious.
I would like to see big (2000piece) Monster Jam with proper suspension, engine, gearbox and 4 wheel steering!
The perfect send off!
That would be awesome! Especially if they would make the suspension really long and squishy, lots of suspension travel.
Yeah I also commented that! The suspension would be so nice if it had long travel!
And RC
I would hope for a generic truck with a roll cage and interchangeable bodies
I liked the Monster Jam sets, they were fun to build & my son loved to race them. I just wish they put out Blue Thunder before the line ended.
I really would love to see a large scale Monster Jam truck with a small gearbox and all. Would be interesting to see the suspension.

4:36 maybe they were made green to be easier to find?
I will certainly miss the Lego Monster jam series! 😢 I also wish I had bought the gravedigger.
I'm already finishing an ALT build for this, an FWD rally car. Hopefully will be a decent B model option :)
i loved them they were perfect toys and good gifts for all kids nices and nephews. b model and super playability not everything has to be for afols
I wish more sets had pull-back motors. I haven't had a pull-back car since I was a kid.

Just built this today, was a pretty good build. A lot of stickers tho
Monster Jam was good Lego series
R I P Lego Monster Jam 🪦⚰️🪦

Waiting for the buggy review, seems like an awesome set for the price
Crazy what a discontinued Lego set goes for…
Really wish there was a way to combine them all like the big decepticon in transformers 2
Does anyone ever bothe with B models anymore? or are they just displaying the Main model.
Another McLaren Lego car to add to my collection!
I pointed the megalodon set out to my son 5 or 6 times over 9 months. He never acted interested. Then this year it was on his xmas list. So bummed out, i couldnt find one local, and all the ones online were too expensive.

€27/$27 for a pull-back? Ouch. Huge jump there. Guess that means they'll be going up from $25 to at least $30 in Canada. :/
Yes and no B model. This sets getting expensive for what you get.
It's worse! $35 in Canada. Easy pass for me. The little buggy looks good though!
@@onecleverpig I miss being able to afford LEGO. :/

Honestly I don't know. I will review the sets in details for sure, but I can't say if we will get any more interviews like in the past.
Are there plans in the future to do another interview with the speed champions designers?
Well the plans are in place, but as you could see by the lack of publications I didn't succeed this year so far
Understood, thanks anyway@@RacingBrick
Not related to this particular video - are you planning to review the non-technic space sets? Or are those not your thing?
I'll definitely buy some of them, they look interesting
The set looks cool but it really isnt worth 27 bucks. Thanks for the review too!
I think they should just produce some of them for a few years.
Rebrickable is my B-model. Still, b-models should be a standard imo.
Agreed B models is a part of what makes it lego. And not a Chinese product.
Getting rid of b models looks like classic cost cutting measure

Too sad about Monster Jam. I think this is no the only one line Lego likes to stop with no explanation.
I have the grave digger and moster mutt 😂
Huh? The Monster Trucks have the wrong types of wheels and the Odyssey should have the ones from the Monster Trucks...
Excellent

Great sets for 20€, two models and the best, very funny for kids.
