These filters let more dirt in your engine. Traditional filters recommended by Toyota engineers keep your engine cleaner resulting in longer engine life. Your better off following the manufacturers recommendation and using a Toyota OEM filter every 15,000-30,000 miles or 10,000 miles under extreme dirty conditions.
@@curtisjordan9210 I used a K&N back in the early 2000's and it gummed up my throttle body with oil. Made my Tahoe idle surge and it took a while for me to figure out what was causing it. I cleaned the throttle body and it idled normally again.
@@mikeogden5256 There paper filters are dirt cheap. With the K&N you'll constantly be cleaning it, and probably over oiling it and damaging your vehicle. You won't get any extra performance out of it... Stick to OEM.
My Euro mechanic for my Volkswagen told me not to buy one it's a waste of money and if you do not oil it properly to much oil it will burn out your mass air flow sensor and can do other damage don't waste your money this guy is not a mechanic and how can a filter pay for itself when the kit is $30 in the filter cost $50 and you have to spend $30 every time you need a kit to clean it and it how is that paying for itself you're paying to keep one filter clean you could buy four or five filters OEM not cost effective if you add up the cost of what a kit cost to reoiled and clean the filter filters that take oil clog up more quicker and get dirty faster
one cleaning kit can last multiple cleanings. the filters can actually got up to 50k miles without cleaning (with regular use) If you follow the instructions you shouldn't have any issues. I have a cold air intake and no problems for 60k miles.
Did you notice any changes in gas mileage?
I use these filters in my corvettes and pickups.

I agree, use the cheap oem filters and replace them when scheduled. People tend to really over oil these things too.

Toyota sells a TRD OEM factory filter exactly like the K&N for more money than the K&N…
Toyota dealership recommended the K&N for Me to save money and increase performance

I just installed one on my 2022 Rav4 Hybrid which is basically the same as your vehicle. How did it impact mpg if at all?
More air and more filtration? Contradicting facts of K&N
