Thanks for your video. I love the Blue Pullmans, in fact over the years I have collected more than fourteen to fifteen sets of them in their various liveries. they vary in condition from almost factory fresh to those that have never been cared for. My current project is I have made up a full train of these neglected models to make for myself a Midland Pullman. I've started by removing all the deep scratches in the bodies and purchased replacement window inserts; at this moment of time I'm converting two coaches into Kitchen cars. There are two motorised driving cars the chassis' of which have been altered to take Ringfield motors which will eventually be changed to CD motors. There are plenty of details to add, from horns, windscreen wipers, roof grills and fans etc. I've painted the coach interiors also. If the project is a success I'll build another train and put it on You Tube as I build it. Thanks again for your great video.

Wow! I really appreciate you taking the time to drop this note and sounds like you have enough project work going on that will keep you busy for the foreseeable future.
You are a bit more adventurous than me with respect to the conversion to the kitchen car, that might be something for future consideration.
In some of my other responses I did mention John’s amazing trains, you probably know he was modifying the driving wheels and, there seems to be an alternative to the knurled wheels if you so desire.
I would love to see your future videos of further modifications to this model.
Once again, thank you so much.
      Kind regards
      Charlie

    Hiya Charlie
It's great your able to do these service repairs.
Always get the shakes when I see motors out of there body's.
That was very noticeable difference in noise and running..
    Well done you.
    Enjoyed seeing the trains run.
    Fantastic stuff
    Take care Charlie 😊

Thank you Mark. I am far from being an expert but have put the time into learning and watching loads of John’s Amazing Trains and 00Bill.
Your 3d printed buildings are so awesome 👍

Hi Charlie, enjoyed your video, Andy Russell did a video 4 years ago it was his 3rd one how to replace the gear with a brass one. I made one and it is very good. Regards John

Hi Charlie, all the Locos at the start of the video looked looked good and ran very smoothly. The First Pullman must be one of the quietest Motors I have heard, they can be a bit noisy but yours is very good after the service. The second Pullman motor surprised me how quiet it was condsidering it has splined wheels and the large flanges. Hornby used this motor in the Dock Shunter which was very noisy. The third Pullman you ran was the smoothest of them all, a very nice runner. Cheers, Paul.👍👍

Hello Paul, you really were paying attention and yes I am very pleased with the outcome. I might think about replacing the Knurled driving wheels at one point but the sound is unique. JohnChambs123 spoke about using alternate wheels so I must dig into his library to locate that video.
I might also take a look at the Shunters now.
How is your back these days Paul?
      kind regards
      Charlie

I just wrecked an A3 motor trying to replace the commutator ! Where is Barrie Davies ?

    • @charlie1872
      @charlie1872  3 місяці тому +1

Whether Barrie has retired from UA-cam or UA-cam has retired him has yet to be determined. Regardless of the outcome I will miss his intellectual knowledge and abilities in the art of fixing locomotives. The same applies to John’s Amazing Trains, he’s out there sonewhere.
As a back up to those two giants of the hobby I would suggest you contact 00Bill, he is the next best thing.
      Hope this helps.
      Regards
      Charlie

      Exactly what did you break?

Thanks for your reply Charlie. I have watched BD for the last few years, written to him and sent gifts and he has sent me bits and pieces for repairs. I miss him very much. I learned so much about the hobby from his you tube channel. Anyway the A3 was a second hand purchase that was noticeably sluggish, a friend sent me a new commutator and I tried to replace it but I cracked the housing that the commutator sits in. I’ll just buy a new motor. It’ll be fine. I like oo bill but haven’t sent anything for repair. I grew up in Partick and my aunty lived in Fairlie Park Drive so I frequently travelled on the blue trains from Partickhill out west to visit relatives. I’m living in Ireland now just finishing a Housebuild with a bespoke model railway outbuilding included. Finally a permanent layout. All the best. Scott

Wow Scott, just round the corner! I was born in Vine St above Fraser’s Bar at the corner of Russel St.
We moved to Knightswood when the tenements were planned for demolition. I moved to Canada in 1973 when the future in the shipyards looked bleak
It’s a small world after all.
