3:36 In my experience the inbox mail item with "I started scouting player X" already shows all the infos you want from that player, i.e. the stats, the scouting rating, the pros/cons, and so on. I often check in the list of scouting jobs to see if the scouts already have these infos available before they finish their 1 week scouting report, which they quite often do. This is especially important when the transfer window is open and every hour counts. 14:47 What I do is...I switch it to World, check out the list and when I am done I switch it back to zero. Cheesy but effective 😅. 29:49 Checking his history can often help in such a case. If he didn't exist when the game started (i.e. summer 2023 in this case) it's usually a regen. 31:10 As far as I know you can type in the field at the mid-right where it says "Add Condition" and type "contract" there. It will show you "Contract Status" among other matches and you can add it as condition and switch it to whatever you like, such as "Amateur". Then you can do the exact same thing again and choose "Non-Contract" and change the condition from AND to OR.
One can always make it more difficult. In FM23 I signed only from West Yorkshire with Guiseley. i had like 50 players avaible to scout including Haaland. Tho most players did not want to sign for Vanarama North Guiseley😂. Lovely guide Matt. I usually restrict myself with like Sevilla I mainly have spainish players.
With regard to the amount of trialists you can have at any one time, previous versions of FM allowed a lot more than 30 if you took the simple step of bunging them all into one of your youth teams - I've had literally hundreds on trial at the same time using this method in the past. Of course, they might have close the 'loophole' this year and you do have to be careful to do them in small batches of about 25-30 because they will initially go into your first team and fall foul of the limit. Once they arrive though, simply move them to another squad of your choosing and go get some more. Very handy at lower levels, again, if they haven't stopped it this year - I've not tested it in FM24 yet.
Just did a quick test on the full version of the game and you can still use this method to trial as many as you like, it seems. By 0800 on day two I had 79 trialists on the books! @@Secondyellowcard
There are ways to mitigate that. For a start, it only takes about 2 weeks to get a full report on a trialist so you don't need them there that long. Also, generally this would be done during the close season when there's every chance your players aren't being trained anyway. At most it affects things for about a month and at the level it's most useful at, training is almost useless anyway due to the part-time/amateur nature of the club. Ultimately, it's up to you to weigh up if the potential impact on training is worth possibly finding some free agent gems.@@cthulhudreams7578

I don't per se, but it's a simple fix, if you go into preferences, then skin, then skin colours you can change them in there. I don't touch the ranges but have the lowest set to red, then yellow, then green, then blue, makes life much easier when looking at lots of players :)
I'm very aggressive with my use of the Not Interested list, so I'm not re-scouting anyone I've scouted before. When I do youth team reports per your technique, anyone whose PA is too low goes straight to the Not Interested list, indefinitely. One way I leverage this is after a few years, once I have plenty of scouts and find myself running out of manual scouting based on youth national teams and so forth, I can just go to Players In Range, filter by age 15-19, and sort by Scout Recommendation reversed, then World Rep. Since the Not Interested list is filtered out of the Players In Range screen, I can add players to scout, who I don't have a report on, in big chunks of 30-50. (I'm not doing Build a Nation, so I'm only looking for enough players for my team rather than 3-4 other teams, so I can ignore more players sooner.) I wish I could have a skin/view that told me whether or not a player was on my Not Interested list! It really slows down my youth national team scouting to right-click on people and check whether they're on the Not Interested list.
7:00 got lucky with Ramello Mitchell, he's on about 375 a week for me. If you can keep tabs on him and he still doesn't have a club by December he lowered his demands for me, assuming as he got to the point where he was bored of rejection and just wanted to play

Question: if I have a scout who is scouting Italy for example. If I do a search and the player is Italian, would it be better to assign the scout assigned to Italy or does that not matter?
Nah, at that stage it won't matter than much, the knowledge he had of Italy might give you more information up front, but i don't think it helps once you are actively scouting the player
Don't forget- especially at lower levels- to take a moment and have your GM (or whoever you give the responsibility to) to suggest Transfers- Loans- Free Signings for positions (Under the Transfer Tab). At the very least you can trial the free and sometimes loan ones and usually they are improvements. In English lower leagues I love to have a Welsh GM, because I always seem to get one or two free signings that are impact players- that I can't scout yet- because of his knowledge. My compliments on the extensive coverage of this video- everything in it has value- excellent work.

I personally used the country method last year, but found some countries wouldn’t yield many results (if any), so definitely going to give this a bash later 👍
@@jazzamattazz3647 Countries will give you a wider pool to fish in, review more players and get more results. Recruitment Focuses are much quicker and easier to manage if you don't want to spend the time clicking loads and yield good results but nowhere near the other two. The more scouts and knowledge you gain over a save and the more regens are added to the game, the more the gap gets narrower and the focus becomes very effective. Both methods still have to take into account the stature of the club, the focus just scales nicely and has less "lost effort" but at the cost of less players reviewed and thus found. Hope that makes sense.

The one for manual scouting is the custom role views. national team is a view when looking at national teams, amateur is a more general view i use when looking at scouting :)
Nope, in all my tests i only had Hungary loaded as the based nation, i had some other league's players loaded but not the countries themselves, the smaller database you have, the less effective this will be but it should still work
What I don't get. If I offer a trial and the player accepts, why do I have to check a box again for accepting the trial? This is a waste of time, though there are enough already (this game is a click-generator).
One more thing i routinely do by habit- when the Top 50 Nxgen players are announced every year- I shortlist all of them. Most likely I have no chance at getting any of them anytime soon- but I have lucked into a couple of them two or three seasons down the line and they are game changers usually if I can actually get them to my side.
With loans, I found if you wait until the week the season actually kicks off, suddenly everyone drops to wanting zero wages. Was usually around 5th/6th august in fm23 in England.

Apparently once I’ve started scouting a youth intake wonderkid I cannot then sign them for compensation. My way around that is to sign the guys who have the highest variable transfer values.

Thanks for your comment. It was the only place I found an explanation of why "Get Team Report" doesn't appear in the clubs I search for. As I have no budget for observation, my scouting range is zero. Now I've put it at least at a national level so I can have the reports. Thanks a lot again! ✅💡
Not to do with this video, but I have made a few staff changes with the Ingatestone editor for my current save. Is there anyway that I can save these changes so when ever I start a new save they always start with that team?

not sure if he covered it in this video or another but click staff tab, then hover over responsibilities and click scouting, then make sure the assigning scouts tab is set to yourself rather than as that chief scout. Having the scouts is good as it can help you scout players identified by your perameters you just need to tell the scouts to let you decide perameters over them
Hi love your videos and going through your build a nation saves . Can I ask what league is best or relaxed on player rules . With your dB and scouting I want to start a long term save building a squad having a wonder kid farm. Any ideas and thanks again
Pretty much any league in Europe has more relaxed player registration rules than England but in particular Portugal, Belgium, The Netherlands and Denmark...France has a 4 'Foreigner' rule for matchday squads but really their definition of 'Foreign' is Britain and South America. Germany looks like an easy place to put together a team of foreign wonderkids because of their 99 player squad 'limit' but they have rules for European Competition where at least 12 out of the 25 man squad have to be German.
I think you can select amateur and non contact simultaneously by this way: In the “advanced “ options,you can choose the same filter twice (id. Division- premier league/division-serie A). In the rows that will appear ,on the left you can select the option “and” or “or”…if you select “or” you should find players who are in one of the two conditions
I also find you can use player agents to scout (to a limited and risky extent). I was playing in the lower leagues of Germany and was finding African players in less predominant countries playing for their national team who were on amateur, expired, or expiring contracts, I was able to go straight into contract negotiations. Oftentimes, their playing time demands are a rough indicator for how good they are. Obviously make sure they're definitely interested as some agents will use higher status as a way to entice their player to come to your club. But if they're very interested and wanting a high squad role, you probably found a good player. You can sign them and immediately do a quick scout before you confirm the signing but otherwise I think this is a somewhat labor intensive but cost effective way to find good players. And it doesn't have to be for African players but any free agents I imagine.
Awesome and comprehensive video. I've been using your methods throughout fm23 and the results have been great. One thing I'd add which is technically not scouting but the end result is the same. Director of football suggestions. Works extremely well in lower leagues when you don't have many scouts or the budget to do it. Basically ask DoF for free transfer suggestion for each position, trial those players to essentially fully scout them and repeat the process as much as you can. I find 2 week trial gives all the information but the wage demands will only be visible when he is released so maybe 3 week trial is indeed better. Especially since you can move them into youth team and bring in another 30 trialists. I've up to like 300 trialists at the club simultanously. Later on when scouting network and finances are a bit better you can also ask DoF for loan or transfer suggestions. They tend to offer some players which aren't on scouts radar.
@@Secondyellowcard It's generally my only source of players until around Championship or equivalent in other countries. Borderline broken in lower leagues, and also free.

make sure you keep the scout your using for team report method, otherwise you got to go through the whole process again

I think it shows the youth intakes as free transfers because they were free transfers to the clubs they were spawned into.

some 50 nxgen players sucked ass when I get reports on them from my 19 pa scout. IDK why. I play fm 24 with latest transfers patch

Thanks for your comment. It was the only place I found an explanation of why "Get Team Report" doesn't appear in the clubs I search for. As I have no budget for observation, my scouting range is zero. Now I've put it at least at a national level so I can have the reports. Thanks a lot again! ✅💡

Where can i find the scout reports of the players I asked to scout from the received team report?
Not to do with this video, but I have made a few staff changes with the Ingatestone editor for my current save. Is there anyway that I can save these changes so when ever I start a new save they always start with that team?

not sure if he covered it in this video or another but click staff tab, then hover over responsibilities and click scouting, then make sure the assigning scouts tab is set to yourself rather than as that chief scout. Having the scouts is good as it can help you scout players identified by your perameters you just need to tell the scouts to let you decide perameters over them

Hi love your videos and going through your build a nation saves . Can I ask what league is best or relaxed on player rules . With your dB and scouting I want to start a long term save building a squad having a wonder kid farm. Any ideas and thanks again
Pretty much any league in Europe has more relaxed player registration rules than England but in particular Portugal, Belgium, The Netherlands and Denmark...France has a 4 'Foreigner' rule for matchday squads but really their definition of 'Foreign' is Britain and South America. Germany looks like an easy place to put together a team of foreign wonderkids because of their 99 player squad 'limit' but they have rules for European Competition where at least 12 out of the 25 man squad have to be German.

I think you can select amateur and non contact simultaneously by this way:
In the “advanced “ options,you can choose the same filter twice (id. Division- premier league/division-serie A). In the rows that will appear ,on the left you can select the option “and” or “or”…if you select “or” you should find players who are in one of the two conditions
I also find you can use player agents to scout (to a limited and risky extent). I was playing in the lower leagues of Germany and was finding African players in less predominant countries playing for their national team who were on amateur, expired, or expiring contracts, I was able to go straight into contract negotiations. Oftentimes, their playing time demands are a rough indicator for how good they are. Obviously make sure they're definitely interested as some agents will use higher status as a way to entice their player to come to your club. But if they're very interested and wanting a high squad role, you probably found a good player. You can sign them and immediately do a quick scout before you confirm the signing but otherwise I think this is a somewhat labor intensive but cost effective way to find good players. And it doesn't have to be for African players but any free agents I imagine.

Awesome and comprehensive video. I've been using your methods throughout fm23 and the results have been great.
One thing I'd add which is technically not scouting but the end result is the same. Director of football suggestions. Works extremely well in lower leagues when you don't have many scouts or the budget to do it. Basically ask DoF for free transfer suggestion for each position, trial those players to essentially fully scout them and repeat the process as much as you can.
I find 2 week trial gives all the information but the wage demands will only be visible when he is released so maybe 3 week trial is indeed better. Especially since you can move them into youth team and bring in another 30 trialists. I've up to like 300 trialists at the club simultanously.
Later on when scouting network and finances are a bit better you can also ask DoF for loan or transfer suggestions. They tend to offer some players which aren't on scouts radar.
