What About Dan’s Teeth?

Welcome to our channel! We’re Dan and Sharon, an interabled couple who have been married for almost 39 years. Despite Dan being a quadriplegic for the past 6 years, and the medical challenges that come with that, we live a full, rich life, and we’re here to show that it’s possible! Oral care is one of the most important aspects of Dans care. When secretions build up in his mouth, it would be easy for Dan to swallow them, and because the swallowing muscles in him are so weak, he might aspirate, which means that the secretions go into his windpipe and lungs. From there, they could be colonized with bacteria and cause a pneumonia. The cleaner his mouth is, the less chances of that happening.
