French Bank Account for Indians: Conquer the System! (Steps, Fees & FREE Money Revealed!)
Calling all Indian expats in France! Feeling lost in the world of French banking? This video is your ultimate guide! Forget the ease of UPI, here's what you NEED to know:
    The Big Differences:
Appointment-Based: Unlike India, opening a French account requires an appointment.
Direct Debits Rule: Bills (Sim card, utilities) automatically deduct from your account. Say goodbye to individual payments!
    Choosing Your Bank:
Student vs. Professional: Identify your needs to pick the best bank.
Research is Key: Explore options like BNP Paribas with classic and premium cards.
Premium Perks (with Caution): Premium cards allow higher contactless transactions, but use them responsibly!
    Conquering the Application Process:
Documents Ready? Gather your rental agreement, ID, and job offer/student admission letter.
The Branch Visit: Head to your chosen bank and submit your documents.
Card & Code Delivery: Expect your card and account activation code via mail.
Unlocking Your Account: Here's the twist! Text the code to 38655, receive a new PIN code, then return to the branch for activation with a deposit/debit.
Mobile Banking Activation: The branch will provide a separate code for mobile banking activation via mail.
    Managing Your Money:
Sending Money Home: Good news! Sending money to India is free.
Receiving Money: There's a 10 EUR fee per transaction for receiving money from abroad.
Student Perks: Score a sweet deal! Students may qualify for a 1,000 EUR interest-free advance (on request) for the first year.
Maintaining a Balance: Students can often keep a 0 EUR minimum balance.
Bonus Tips & Things to Know:
No CIBIL Score: Forget the Indian credit score system. France uses a different method.
Lyca Sim Trouble? This provider can sometimes have issues receiving the PIN code.
Direct Debits for Everything: Be prepared for automatic deductions for utilities and even your Sim card.
Free Money & Insurance: Students can receive 50-80 EUR for opening an account and enjoy free house and civil liability insurance (under 26).
Remember Your RIB: This "Relevé d'Identité Bancaire" is crucial for sharing your account details for direct debits.
Beware Negative Balances: Penalties apply if your account goes below zero.
Triple Coverage: Student insurance can cover house, civil liability, and even e-bike insurance!

Your content on France is great, did you manage to get a part time job in English? The last video i saw you were giving out your cv but got several rejections. How's Lille for student looking for part time jobs in English? Could you do a video on English student jobs in Lille?

Hey Evans. Thanks for suggestions and following up on my previous video.
Yes, I have a part time job and I barely speak French. But I’m learning and confident I’ll get better.
About Lille, I cannot comment as I have not been there nor know anybody who is there to share their ideas. However, let me try reaching out to some students and make a collaboration video. Give me a month’s time. 🕰️
