I don't like how quick the progression is. Goes from not believing in magic to instantly using it to fight multiple monsters and even taking on a dragon. And doing flips and tricks while parkouring with a super magic boost that she's never used before.

i freaking hate when your character talks when fighting, "take that!" , "right in the gooch!" , "well that was easy!"
there's a reason why Link doesn't speak, it's so you can identify with the character. so you can pretend you are the character

Well yes it's obnoxious and corny, but silent protags like link sucks, that establishes a whole other problem. There's also a reason why silent protags aren't as trendy anymore.

Depends on the purpose of the character and the type of game.
It’s appropriate when your character is supposed to be a character of their own and not a stand in, but if they aren’t then it is bad. I personally don’t like it when they aren’t though.
My personal favorite are the characters that are both, where they are set characters but their personality builds around you and are not forced preset responses.
Constant talking while fighting is annoying though no matter which they are. It’s ok in small doses but just all the fucking time makes you wanna just jump off a bridge just to not hear anything for a little bit.
