1994- Hawaii - A body was found in a large tool box and investigators turned to insects to find information when the victim died. The development of the insect colonies showed the victim had died 18 months ago and the investigators looked for missing persons at that time and found out that the victim was Charles Osbourne! Investigators found that the victim had a dispute with a contractor named Horton at the time he went missing.
He turned the gas on before he left the bodies hoping something would eventually spark causing the place to flare up, further concealing the evidence/cause of death. Had the gas been ignited somehow, it indeed most likely would have destroyed any entomological evidence entirely as well. The case very well could have gone cold, had his plan worked as he originally intended, and instead of being in prison right now, (or dead or whatever happened to him since then,) he'd have collected the insurance money and gotten away with their murders scott-free.

But what about Harold Connor (the business partner)? His mother Cookie LeBlanc was convinced that Alan Michael Rubenstein had murdered her son. She said Harold hating hunting and that she learned from Harold's girlfriend, that Rubenstein had taken an insurance policy on Harold's life and that he was going to collect on it. Cookie then said "No, nobody's going to get any money off my son". If Connor didn't like hunting, how did he finally agree to go? The answer, was that Darrell (then 10) was able to convince Connor to go. However a guy named Michael Fournier (An ex convict and an acquaintance of Rubenstein) was the one who was carrying the gun that killed Connor. The reports stated that as everyone got out and began unloading, Fournier who was 10 feet behind Connor, said he tripped over his shoelaces, fell and accidently shot Harold in the back. It was in April of 1984 that the court denied Rubenstein's request for the insurance claim.

There's alot more to say about Alan Michael Rubenstein. The business partner (The hunting accident victim) was Harold Connor Jr (23). His girlfriend, mother and his cousin stated, that Harold had never went hunting before and was disgusted by the idea of killing animals and that he didn't pack the proper clothing for that kind of trip. So why did Connor go on the trip, if he didn't like hunting? Perhaps the only reason Connor was on that trip, was at Mike's insistance . Rubenstein's friend Michael Fournier was the one shot him. He was standing less than 10 feet behind Connor when the shot went off. The pellets struck Connor in the back, slightly above the waist, and traveled generally in a lateral path through his body. Fournier claims that the gun discharged when he tripped, and Darryl Perry, in corroborating his testimony, claims that the gun discharged about when the butt was close to the ground and while the barrel was pointed diagonally upward in the direction of Connor. This testimony, however, was flatly contradicted by the forensic scientist and pathologist, who concluded that in view of the lateral path of the pellets through Connor's body above his waist, the barrel of the gun must have been parallel (horizontal) to the ground and at waist level at the time of discharge. Further, because of its safety device, in order for the gun to have been discharged, it must have been loaded, cocked, and the trigger pulled. The firing pin could not have been activated just by the gun striking the ground. (Testimony of forensic scientist Ronald Singer and pathologist Dr. Tom D. Norman.) Thank goodness Rubenstein didn't get any money from Harold Connor's death and that the manner of death was later changed from accidental to undetermind.
Alan Michael Rubinstein's death sentence was overturned due to a procedural error in 2009. At last report, he was serving three sentences of life without parole.
That's good. Life in prison is so much worse than the ☠️ sentence. The scumbag murderers are executed with a kindness that they didn't have for their victims.
Regarding the first case. If somebody had ever said to the victim that his toolbox would one day become his coffin, I'm sure he would have laughed his socks off... poor guy didn't deserve that. RIP!

I got that Rubenstein got re-sentenced because The judge didn't mention life versus saying just the death penalty at the 4 year old's murder trial. Rubenstein is no longer on death row. But what I DIDN"T find was what sentence he did get for the murder of the little girl.
Would have just got another life sentence I’d imagine. Damn dumb judge making a basic error and sparing a scumbag like that should lead to him/her being disbarred.
What insurance broker on earth issues life insurance on a 4 year old,the whole point of life insurance is to protect a family or business partner from going through financial hardship due to loss of income in the event of the death of a contributor to said finances,it shouldn't even be possible to get life insurance on a four year old and should be limited to late teens and older who are proven to be financially contributing to an arrangement such as business or relationship household.
I was totally amazed that the make-shift coffin, the oversized toolbox, could be full of bugs. Perhaps the lid of the toolbox didn't fit as tightly as I would have thought. Does anyone know anything about toolboxes of this type? Thanks.
Money. Plus it was his stepson, and he probably never liked him. Looks like he didn’t care at all about his stepson OR the stepsons wife and little girl. I’m wondering what his wife thought about him killing HER SON and grand baby, and the stepsons wife.
I'd been wondering why they hadn't mentioned the Body Farm when they finally did near the end. Since i'm getting up there in years, & i have no family, i've been thinking about arranging the donation of my body for scientific research. It's nice to think i could be of some use to society, even after death.

That’s a relief. I got a new phone last week and have noticed that problem. I was afraid it was a problem with the touch screen.
@@marylane3181 oh thanks, I’m glad it’s not just me. I’m still experiencing the same problems!! If I had a UA-cam channel I’d be a little annoyed at not having accurate feedback. I’ve also noticed that sometimes I have absolutely no issues, although I haven’t noticed any pattern as to who when where or why....I’ve kinda given up. Hopefully someone is doing something about it. Thanks again for replying 🙂🐿
Forensics fascinate me. I'd love to have done that as a career
What did she seriously think the garbage man was going to do when he found that body? Just dump it in the truck and ignore that IT WAS A BODY?
She wasn't the sharpest pencil in the box for sure!
Professor “so today we will be learning how to get answers from bugs”
Me “I’d like to change my field of study.. anything with books”
Wow I'm impressed good cop make different ....!!! Love it
Great team!
Excellent
Alan Michael Rubinstein's death sentence was overturned due to a procedural error in 2009. At last report, he was serving three sentences of life without parole.
Wow that's good news l hope he never gets out from prison what he did Sick Man For Real
That's good. Life in prison is so much worse than the ☠️ sentence.
The scumbag murderers are executed with a kindness that they didn't have for their victims.
Thanks for the update, Mr. Nicol
Can’t say I’m surprised another one escaped the sentence they deserved but hopefully the other inmates are making his time in prison interesting.
I love that the Entomologist rolls up in jeans and no helmet, on his bike to a crime scene. This guy rocks!
I wish every country have this experts and tools. So that they could solve every murder.
Great channel but too many commercials.
U can get rid of all th commercials by skipping any video to the end.. watch th last 2 secs ... and press replay. NO ADVERTS... YAAY
Regarding the first case. If somebody had ever said to the victim that his toolbox would one day become his coffin, I'm sure he would have laughed his socks off... poor guy didn't deserve that. RIP!
Entomologist comes riding in on his motorcycle with no helmet lol 🤯
I also love this channel
I agree.
Me too
How did you deduce the identity of the corpse?
nature tells the story for the victums
Gil Grissom would be very proud
I thought of him a lot during this episode! 🙂
Analysing the life cycles of those insects the entomologist could also be able to determine what the murdered family ate for their last dinner.
This is the first time I've heard, truly m.iss.our friend😢❤.
To skip all the ads, drag the progress bar to the end and then hit replay. If you're on a playlist, drag progress bar past yellow dots and then back to the beginning.
You're welcome.
Note: Doesn't always work on iPhones from Chi-na.
On PCs install adblocker into your browser.
Thanks 👍😀
Or just stream it on your TV using a Google Chrome Cast. It automatically removed all the ads.
Just tried it.
I think it's working.
No it's not.
@@peterjongsma2779 you have to drag the video to the last few seconds and let the video play out till the very end (including potentially the last ad, if there is one). It won't work if you simply drag to full end then hit replay. Once video is over, then hit the replay button. I do it for every video that has more than 3 ads (don't mind 3 ads as it gives the channel revenue, but fuck if I'm watching more than that)

Thanks I'll try again.
Let you know how I go.
So there was only this blood colored cleaning solution on the floor so investigators thought nothing of it 🤔
You couldn’t pay me to open any random bag, crate, box, suitcase, nothing! Well maybe a bank bag.
I got that Rubenstein got re-sentenced because The judge didn't mention life versus saying just the death penalty at the 4 year old's murder trial. Rubenstein is no longer on death row. But what I DIDN"T find was what sentence he did get for the murder of the little girl.
appeals got him off death row which happens alot, but that just means he will die in jail
@@catiarotolone9916 I didn't see any without paroles on his sentencing. Lets hope they are consecutive sentences too.
Would have just got another life sentence I’d imagine. Damn dumb judge making a basic error and sparing a scumbag like that should lead to him/her being disbarred.
I agree the nightal
So is he dead or in prison yet
The pos who killed her own husband and dump his body like a garbage disgusts me. 🤢💔 And she only got 25 years for that...?
That etymologist Dr. Goth.. He's a real gone guy.
9:21 Charles, owner of marble and tile business.
Discussion: How are we going to show that?
Director: "Let's just show him fixing the kitchen sink."
Dude in the motorcycle rode in to save the day
Good
I was totally amazed that the make-shift coffin, the oversized toolbox, could be full of bugs. Perhaps the lid of the toolbox didn't fit as tightly as I would have thought. Does anyone know anything about toolboxes of this type? Thanks.
the power of insects
Don't people keep their eyes on the road while driving????
Police in Hawaii need to do their best to find killer.
Why would you wait until 1 month before checking on someone doesn't make any sense
What kind of a person kills a 4 year old?
I was wondering how he could kill his own family over the money
Plus kill his business partner (who didn't like hunting) and his daughter's boyfriend (who was African American).
Money. Plus it was his stepson, and he probably never liked him. Looks like he didn’t care at all about his stepson OR the stepsons wife and little girl. I’m wondering what his wife thought about him killing HER SON and grand baby, and the stepsons wife.
I need new episodes. Seen all of them
Watch UK, AUSTRALIA
4:45 the CID guy looks the spit of late actor Robin Williams 😳
Good stuff ❤❤❤
I'd been wondering why they hadn't mentioned the Body Farm when they finally did near the end. Since i'm getting up there in years, & i have no family, i've been thinking about arranging the donation of my body for scientific research. It's nice to think i could be of some use to society, even after death.
Entomology will out you!
I'm eating while watching this the first o saw was the maggots i almost throw up...
Good presentation except for repeating the previously explained information.
I think Americans must suffer from short memory. Too much junk food maybe.
As these were previously aired on TV, repeating what's already stated is said after ad-breaks of 5 mins or more!
after death, the insects can smell it a mile way
Gross! (Strange that I find that morbid, but am fine watching true crime shows. 🤷♀️)
Must smell like hell
🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
Insects can tell us when they died.
I had to get a Chrome extension for volume boosting cus these videos are always so low volumed. It's so frustrating.
Yeah I’m being framed says Linda … after trying to frame lucky 😆
After having sprayed with luminol, can we still retrieve DNA materials from blood drops?
Yes
