BALLING ON A BUDGET...
My followers are tired of the crap quality of my videos! Hope I win this! Thanks for the extremely professional video content. above and beyond.
As a 27 years experienced DP / Director with over 8 feature films under my belt, I agree with you 100%. My only very, very small push-back would be...when you compared it to run and gun cameras because of it's 800 native ISO. That's the mistake most of these new UA-cam DPs and content creators make. That camera is NOT a run and gun camera. It's a real cinema camera for films, high end commercials and high end music videos. In those cases, you're in a controlled set(s) and location(s). So you light the room / location / set properly. I wish people will STOP complaining about it's low lights. 90% of Hollywood preferred cinema cameras are all BAD/HORRIBLE in low light scenarios. Anyways, AWESOME break down brother. Keep up the dope work. Respect 👍🏾💯
This was an amazing comment! I couldn’t agree with you more. It is not a running gun camera at all. It is a cinema camera that is amazing for controlled situations. That being said, I am a documentary filmmaker, and probably not the smartest move to get this particular camera, but I am absolutely in love with the color science and how this camera performs in well lit scenarios.
Run and gun is also a relative term. If you win the lottery you could buy an Alexa mini or lf and connect what you need and make that a run and gun. It just really means, “ good for many scenarios and less setup time” bad lighting is gonna make any camera look bad, and good lighting will make any camera look good :). You made a wise choice for sure! Gonna take this into consideration on my next purchase.
@@Alexzarfatifilms Thank you for your kind words. It's an amazing camera for sure. If it works for you, by all means use the tools that works for your story and business. It just annoys me when UA-camrs complain about it not fitting their everyday run and gun shoots. That camera is not designed for that. That was my only thing. 😇Stay safe. Cheers.
@@GermanDisla Sure, I see your point. Valid point indeed. I was just pointing out that, every camera ever manufactured was manufactured for a purpose and the company manufacturer has / had a specific target in mind before creating the camera. It being for pro high level movies or shooting your baby's first step and later graduation. Both are cameras but different design with different operators in mind. That was my point. I can't buy a Honda Accord and expect it to be as fast as a Ferrari 488 Pista. Both are cars, but are built for different market and owners.
@@guguemichaels That was a great comment. It seems like many smaller filmmakers are constantly seeking a "one size fits all" camera, which isn't always a practical way of thinking.
I hate when people talking about Ursa 12Ks resolutions and frame rates and they dont mentioning THIS BEAST DOESNT CROPS lol
For filmmakers who have a more doc heavy load, the G2 4.6K is still remarkably strong for run and gun DPs. You have BRAW and can change the color science when grading in post to Gen 5 while also having the ability to shoot Pro Res.
Balling on a budget. Dude you’re balling with this video. It’s when you see content like this that you go “hell, there’s some incredible content on this platform that no one knows about.”
Thanks Mick I appreciate it brother🙏🏻 glad you found the channel
I wouldn’t say I’m balling on a budget (fx6 user) but you give some really valid points for the black magic 12k. The biggest thing I wanted was the autofocus and low light capabilities as I’m a one man everything. Great camera review.
Then brother, stick with what you have or go get a run and gun camera. This is a real cinema camera. And most cinema cameras don'thave auto focus. Because NO film set on this planet uses that UA-cam auto focus trend. It doesn't exist in the film world. Every film DP (solo or with a crew) uses manual cinema lenses and those lenses don't have auto focus. So, if you ever want to start shooting movies for producers and writers, then brother, STOP with the auto focus and low light crave. Professionals will laugh at you when you talk like that. Movie sets and high end commercials, you light your scenes no matter how bright or low your locations are. Just a friendly tip. Best of luck brother. 👍🏾
BALLIN ON A BUDGET! I'm glad that finally someone is talking about the Ursa mini pro 12k, I love this camera and it still a dream! Thanks for the videos
I have used Blackmagic’s cameras for years and you make some valid points. I switched to RED last year and there’s just something about the look of footage shot on a RED that has a different - more filmic feel.
I can always pick out BM / Sony and Pany video as it has a certain look to it, it’s not bad look as most cameras today can produce a great image in the right hands but it’s a look that feels more “video-y” to me. Maybe it’s how the image is debayered, motion cadence… who knows but they do have a less filmic feel without a ton of post work or filtration at capture time.
As a working VFX artist getting a larger 8k/12k plates to work with is always a major plus. I don’t like how BRAW is partially debayered - That said the 12k is a really impressive camera and one of the better low cost cameras on the market for shots that need a large plate to put tracking markers on the outside of the live action are for shots that need motion solves and plenty of resolution for tracking.
This is a really great comment and much appreciated. The only RED I have used has been the Komodo but what RED do you own?
@@Alexzarfatifilms I'm waiting for THAT answer too
What BMD camera did you have ? I feel like you might have shot on the pockets... They're great for low light but don't have the cinema look the URSA have.
I always telling other film maker that ursa mini is not big, it's ready to go package, If you rig up any other similar cinema camera, they will be way bigger/compx than ursa, take a very good example, alex mini, it looks small, but near nothing on the body, nood a lot rigs, and red camera, same issue, need a lot of rig, but black magic giving you everything that you need, you can start shot right out from the box. That's very close to more compact sony comsumer level cinema camera. Image Arri make some FX3 fx6 like camera, that's actually what ursa mini is right now, an arri in a compact fx6 body.
The addition of the OLPF is a great deal on the latest release. I have the 6K Pro and the Ursa Broadcast because the sensors are the same and added the Rawlite OLPF . I would love to have the 12K also to be able to shoot the 8K . Spot on on the Gen 5 Colors! BRAW ia amazing. Now that Netflix has approved the 12K it should get more popular. BMD is doing some amazing things!
What is OLPF?
optical image sampling, as by image sensors in digital cameras, the anti-aliasing filter is also known as an optical low-pass filter (OLPF), blur filter, or AA filter.@@nicholasolivas317
It’s a true cinema camera. I think the problem is that blackmagic prices are so good that it puts them in reach for the average low budget film maker. You don’t hear anyone complain about Red or Arri having auto focus or image stabilization. Because these cameras are used by real professionals. The reality is this camera shouldn’t even be in the conversation with a Sony. But because of the price it is. The image you get out of this camera is insane!!
balling on a budget
Balling on a budget! This video might've just convinced me to use this camera for my next film! Excited to see more videos from you!
Thanks Conrad!
I’ve always wondered how this camera actually happened and no one was talking about it. Thank you!
Balling on a budget!!
Man you sure are right about the ursa 12k. I can’t wait to snag one of these bad boys up
The lack of a dual iso was the deal breaker for me, but the framerates are still very tempting. I also miss the Blackmagic colours.
I’m literally on a budget. Trying to push my way through the filmmaking world and I’m not gonna lie, the 12K would help A LOT! I didn’t go to film school, have no crew but the passion and the love I feel for making films is so strong that it will keep me going forward till I have no air in my lungs
Bro I agree is is literally a beast of a real cinema camera for the price … I can’t believe it’s not sold out everywhere
DUDE SERIOUSLY 😂😂😂
I have been wanting to get a camera for months, I have been looking to get the Panasonic Lumix GH6 which for some it may look like it is budget friendly. However, I'm an international student, majoring in Film and TV Production. I have worked with my school cameras, but I'm not allowed to film personal projects with them. My summer semester increased my tuition by 3K, I can only work 20 hours a month because of legal issues as international student, and I can only work at things related to my major. If I had budget, I think that it would range from like $300-$600
BALLING ON A BUDGET actually surprised about the lack of dual iso. Seems like it should be standard by now. The colors look amazing tho!
balling on a budget - as a high school film student, im extremely lucky to have access to prosumer cinema cameras and industry grade equipment. our teachers love using the blackmagics and even the pocket cinema series has beautiful footage that compares to footage from high quality reds and not to mention the menus are so nice to use. great video! dropping a sub.
Thanks man and glad to have you found the channel. Good luck on your filmmaking journey
Balling on a budget!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉. I am enbarking on a huge God dream to create my first documentary since walking away from the film industry 16 years ago. I’m jumping off the cliff in faith!
That’s awesome my brother good luck on your journey
Yo winning that filmmaking pack would be a huge blessing for my career!
Balling on a budget. Great overview of the strengths and weaknesses of the camera. Keep up the good work!
Thanks brother 🙏🏻
Dope video Alex! Can’t wait for the next one!
Thanks Desmond! 🙌🏻
BALLING ON A BUDGET!!! Great video! I didn't know much about this camera before watching this. Thanks for the info.
No problem Tom!
12K was insane when it came out, just from a spec standpoint and cost analysis, but it's such a great camera.
yo i'm balling on a budget rn, just wrapping up on my film school degree at college, the start kit is the step up I could use to take my school project from average straight into a pro grade portfolio
Got to use these in my recent film classes. Such a beautiful image and great for learning. Balling on a budget for sure
I’ve owned the 12k for the last year and it continues to amaze me. Fx6 is a great camera, I shoot on it often but the image doesnt compare. Definitely a slept on camera. Especially if you rent some high end glass.
Balling on the budget. Love how you brought this camera the justice it deserves
Balling on a budget! Great video, keep up the good work!
Damn I just made a major investment from the canon 80 D to the canon R5C and I’m trying to work with this 8K raw footage which is way larger than 1080 P I was ever used to. I’m still gathering all my gimbals in gear together but still am lacking on a few lenses that connect to the RF. I would love to win anything available to help my career start and I appreciate it more than anyone will understand
The high framerates are really tempting, and also the image quality. Great review, thanks!
Thanks Attila🙌🏻
Your channel deserves more visibility. I’m glad I found it
The most inspiring channel every beginner filmmaker wish for! Congrats.
Thanks Jernej! Glad you found the channel brother. 🙌🏻
Idk how I ended up on this video but the production quality is great for a relatively small channel! Great job!
I love the ursa it’s actually how I found your channel! I hope to buy it in one year 🤩 keep up the good work your videos are so so helpful to me!!!!
HELL YEAH BROTHER!!!! It’s truly amazing I can’t wait to see what BM releases next
@@Alexzarfatifilms I’m excited to see how big your account gets! UA-cam is a slow grind for sure but I can tell you’re making high quality content and it’ll pay off soon!
@@TrueLegacyStudio thank you brother I really appreciate that man seriously. How is everything going with Filming The jujitsu stuff?
cant wait to buy min end of this month! thanks for the review
Nice man good luck brother🙌🏻
Balling on a budget! Thanks for the information! You've definitely gave me another camera to think about.
Glad I could help, what are the cameras on your list if you don’t mind me asking?
Wow! What a great bit of kit. As I am only doing student projects, I can produce exactly what I need with a basic camera. As they always say, its not about the camera quality but the filmmaker behind the camera. But someday, I hope to be operating with a camera like this. Great video! 👍🏻
Thanks Max and very true it’s just a tool… but man what a tool 😂 lol
Ballin on a budget
That open sequence was so good!
Ballin on a budget 🔥🔥🔥 also I found your channel on accident and love your stuff! I’m watching every video 🤣
Thanks Christian glad to have you on the channel brother🙌🏻
LIKED, SUBSCRIBED and SHARED !! Currently own the BMPCC4k. The Ursa12k is my next camera. Thanks for showcasing and highlighting this camera, Alex Z.
Thank you brother and good luck!
Balling on a budget. Cameras from Blackmagic are so underrated, their menus are so user-friendly, and their features are unmatched
I’ve been saving up to get the Red Komodo but I already shoot with Black Magic 6K pro and you might have just sold me on this camera!! BALLING ON A BUDGET! BALLING ON A BUDGET! BALLING ON A BUDGET! BALLING ON A BUDGET!
Great review! Also, stellar job on the audio
Thanks Adam!
Putting my name in the running! Love the topic and couldn't agree more about this camera.
Hell Yeah Danny!!!
BALLING ON THE BUDGET.
Thank you for this oportunity man!
For real! God bless you!🤗
BALLING ON A BUDGET, I just started posting gym content only 16 years old and dont have the money for anything rn, this would help out a lot
Definitely a camera that deserves a higher rank when talking about cinema cameras
BALLING ON A BUDGET
Great video, love your work.
Liked & subscribed.
Appreciate it Spike! Glad you found the channel.
Balling on a budget. “ Great camera body comes with the great responsibility “ such as need of lens, lighting gears and juicy desktop to handle that 8K footages. But love to watch this kind of video even I can't afford it. Great video 🫰🫰hoping to win that giveaway kit.☺️☺️
It was quite amazing how the launch price of the URSA 12K was at 10K USD then dropped to 6K then is now 6K+.
Regardless, Blackmagic seriously helps all us filmmakers who area balling on a budget. : >
Great informative video guys!

This was a great way to say that lol

Ballin on a budget. Hanging around with a a7s3 and our team is ready for something bigger
Balling on a budget! I fell in Love with the 12k once they announced it and I researched it 🎥🎬🎥🎬💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great points made, ty for taking the time as I am in the same position and am considering this or the FX-6 and I'm coming from BMPCC4k & SonyA7sii so on the fence.
It really comes down to budget and what you could afford they’re both great cameras and both have their pros and cons
You got almost 400 subs in a day from this video. That’s pretty cool
Lol yeah not too bad
We love our URSA G2 6K. We do mostly broadcast but flexible enough to do a documentary. I totally agree with you though, it's a beast to carry around.
Hi, i'm a french filmaking passionate I juste discoverd your chanel and I love it ! 😊
Sorry if my english isn't correct, I am learning my english and filmaking :)
No worries brother I’m glad you found the channel!🙌🏻
Balling on a budget! I borrow the Blackmagic from my teacher since although it's really cheap, I can't afford it, and I can sure confirm the truth of this video. They're the best piece of gear I've ever had in my hands. A true life saver!
BALLING ON A BUDGET! Great videos! Thanks
Thanks BOB!!

Balling on a Budget
I've been a huge fan of excellent video quality.
You got to the heart of the matter.
Keep it up :)
For real this camera has very crisp image and quality, cant believe it sits at 6k given prices of other cinema cameras. I might probably save up for this, I've always love Panasonic's color science
dang, that hard pan on the intro song scared the crap out of me hahahahaha
what i love about black magic cameras that it forces you to learn about the camera, i dont know about everyone else but black magic is the underrated boss for me 🔥
also amazing video !🙌
You are saying straight FACTS!
Balling on a budget 😊 I love my FX 6 but let’s see!
Balling on a Budget amazing stuff you are doing 💯 I'm a pretty young filmmaker would love to get some good camera stuff!
Balling on a budget. I've been a huge fan of the G2 4.6k's image. It's beautiful and the files are small compared to my 6k. And, Netflix approved as primary cam.
Great talk man, thanks.
I would love to be drawn haha, very good video bro!
Your content looks great, i have the 6K Pro and it´s great, i can´t imagine the 12K...keep it up with the videos!
Black magic has great cameras! Especially there pocket line! I think you guys covering the 12k is awesome!
DUDE great Videos , beautiful grading. And you have some awesome giveaways. thank you for that.
Balling on a budget!
Great Video, keep it up!
BALLING ON A BUDGET!
would love to shoot with a camera like this!! Right now im still stuck with my small Canon dslr and I usually can't afford renting fancy equipment for my projects.
Balling on a budget ya heard I’m clocked in and would love to work with ya my guy recently looking to cop either this red or fx6 in June been gearing up for a bit
Great channel!! And I’m balling on a budget
Thanks Dru appreciate it brother🙌🏻
I'm definitely on a budget... as a student in a film school our crew is scraping everything we can to find equipment to shoot with, we managed to borrow the studio version of davinci resolve to finish the color grade and edit the movie but scraping by for camera and gear proved to be really hard so BALLING ON A BUDGET i guess!!!!
this would be a dream come true to have a camera like this, we as students can't even imagine the quality and all the thing we could do for our films with this
BALLIN ON A BUDGET!
I'd love one of these. The only downside would be the lack of autofocus which can be really useful for events, weddings and sports where you don't get to make rehearsals and things just happen around you. But cinema cameras are not meant to have AF, so I can overlook that.
BALLING ON A BUDGET 🔥 Great video!! 🫶
Appreciate it Edgar!
Black magic overall is underrated. Great video mate
Thanks brother
Great exposition of the 12k !!!! Love your energy
Ursa Mini Pro is so underrated! Glad to see it getting some love.
Balling on a budget! I totally agree i´ll be an user of the ursa for the las 2 years and i love it
Balling on a budget! This video was super informative and entertaining, like always. ur a huge inspiration to me, and have pushed me towards doing what i love, film making. keep doing what ur doing man! :)
Thanks David and it feels great to hear that the content I’m putting out is inspiring you brother🙏🏻 I got a lot more really great videos coming soon. Thanks for all your support man🙌🏻
Balling on a budget!! For real my favourite camera is a 720p handycam I got years ago and still use to this day for mixed media stuff. Right on the cusp of buying and owning my first cinema camera for commercial work. The 12k would be a dream come true 🤞❤
True, my feed didn’t even pitch me this camera. I settled with the RED but now I’m interested in this.
Great Video, I am looking at getting the 12k on Ebay for even cheaper and I can't wait to use it. God bless.
I like the no marketing aspect for BMD, just no nonsense plain products that work. You can buy them without the hype and they'll be great because you actually needed them.
I have the 6k pro and if I were to upgrade it, I don't see a reason to get anything other than the 12k. it has such insane specs and capabilities for its price and shoots incredible images.
I use the 6K too but I think it’s the best camera Black Magic offers. Crazy low price point for a similar image to the Ursa. My thought on the 12k is that it feels really overkill, most monitors aren’t even 4K yet and then talk about storing and working with 12k files. Sounds like a nightmare to store and edit it with any post processing.
@@MaximoZhang You would probably never shoot in 12K, more likely 8k, and at like 12:1 or 18:1 compression ration the files aren't that bad. Higher resolution just allows you more flexibility in post-production when you deliver in 4k.
Thanks for a quality review. I like that you describe both the pros and cons. BALLING ON A BUDGET.
Balling on a budget!
Love your channel!
Balling on a Budget. Great camera review!
