Yes definitely worth it! I’m about to graduate with my B.S. in Psychology, and I was taking all the pre-reqs to go into occupational therapy, but throughout my senior year I quickly lost passion and realized I’ve always wanted to be a teacher! I was planning on being a para this upcoming school year while working on my teaching certification! Hopefully that plan doesn’t get ruined with covid 😒
@@torirose4262 I'm glad you realized now rather than later. It's hard making the initial career changes and figuring out how everything works. Ugh, I hate that people are having to try to find jobs right now. But I hope you find the perfect position!!
I have an accounting degree and have done a little accounting work. You summed it up for me when you said, "This isn't who I am!" Thank you for saying that because I truly don't think that accounting is who I was. I could've went the MAT route but I decided to go back to school and get another Bachelor's degree. You know what, deciding to pursue a Bachelor's in Elementary Education is the BEST decision that I have made in my life. TEACHERS ROCK!!!
i’m so happy i found your channel. i’ll be graduating next year with a business degree but teaching has been on my mind a lot lately. it’s something i’ve always wanted to do. my plan was to get internship experience and see how it went before deciding to change my entire career path but the pandemic had made that really hard. it’s so nice to see that i’m not alone, and that it’s possible to make the switch 💕
I loved this video so much! I’m currently studying to get certified and plan on quitting my corporate job to become a teacher as well. It was so helpful/refreshing to hear from someone who’s done it!
If anyone else wants to make a sudden career change to teaching, middle school math is apparently the content area to change to. I’m entering my 4th year and 3rd school teaching 8th grade math. Other than my first year, we’ve always ended up hiring more than half my team anew. It’s not uncommon in my area to hire people who are getting out of law, accountancy, engineering, etc.
I feel you on preparing for the Praxis. I still have to take one multisubject Praxis exam, Science to be exact, as well as two other additional tests. I am taking my time to study for one test at a time and taking it. I am so excited for what your future is holding for you.

This really made me smile :) seeing your classroom for the first time is seriously the best feeling!! It makes everything so real. I could never teach English, but my closest teacher friend teaches English and she is sooo good. I wish I could sit in her class as a student because you can tell the students have grown so much through her classes. Best of luck finishing your masters!!
Ms. P.S. thank you! Maybe you can sit in on her class during your planning :) in my student teaching we would sometimes get to visit each other’s classrooms. It’s a very valuable experience!

So April of this year I started the process of researching alternative paths to teaching certification and I hope August of 2021 I’ll be a certified teacher in my own classroom 😬 I have the exams scheduled for December and January so wish me luck!!
