  • The popular anthem in Cornish with subtitles in Cornish (Yn Kernewek) and English. With beautiful scenery and Cornish imagery. The official anthem is Bro Goth Agan Tasow (the Cornish Land Of My Fathers), although this is the well known "national song".
I did make a mistake on the translation, 'gwell' means 'better' as in the line should be 'here's better men than you'; not 'here's men as good as you'.
Also, it's worth pointing out that this translation from the English language song isn't completely accurate in that 'verow' in the chorus I have been informed, I think only means 'to die', but it definitely doesn't mean 'to live or die' and shouldn't be used for both.
You can buy the song, 'Trelawny' on the album 'Eurocantica II' available on iTunes. This is very rare to find a record of this song sung in Cornish so please go and buy it there if you want the track.
(Info on the language: www.magakernow.... is the main organisation for Kernewek language learning, they have all the links and resources you'll need. There is an app you can download to an iPhone or iPod and probably iPad: 'uTalk Cornish' teaches the basics of the language.
This is the full dictionary in the Standard Written Form: www.kernewegva....
and you can learn of the current state and background of the language: en.wikipedia.or.... You can also join the facebook group: 'I pledge to become more fluent in Cornish'. That will put you in touch with lots of other speakers, musicians, Cornish radio presenters and others who speak the language.)
