I took mine on a trip to the USA, I also had my Sony A7siii, guess which I used more, yep, the Pocket 2. I love it. Don't care if people think it's odd or whatever. :)

And it also has a physical gimbal, which the 12 pro doesn't, so I think that even the stabilization would not compare. And the sensor is bigger on the pocket 2.
@@silbay why? Both are stabilized camcorders with front screens to keep in frame. Both have other strengths, but at their core they are very similar.....
i can confirm that the size of your camera has little impact on the uncomfortableness of filming yourself (i’ve tried). Filming yourself in public/around other people is something you simply have to push through. The Osmo Pocket and a Canon R6 with a 16-35 lens feel near identical in terms of awkwardness (for me) 🤷♂️
@@onemorechris Not really in terms of filming myself ( something I'm still working through ) But in some places they don't allow you to have the camera on, on the tripod like you're filming, etc. It's stupid really but, thats life

I love Peter's previews and reviews but not showing the Pocket 2 in use outdoors, with low light, and with dynamic conditions like running or bouncing around in a vehicle does explaining the product a disservice... the iPhone 12 camera review he just did is an example of one that really demos the capabilities.
Me too, how it blends with the mirrorless I think it's what could make the deal, as would be a killer B! Tight places, smooth transition from the A. Some reasonable low light (where you could work confortable with the mirrorless) so you don't have to light twice as much just for the B.
have the first iteration of it, was hoping they would include the 1" sensor and replaceable battery... not sure if I will upgrade (but my Osmo pocket 1's battery is almost done, max 30 min of recording time left...)

Smaller sensors have more distortion and at the same angle as a gibber one and all action cameras have crappy rectilinear correction for the wide angles they often use.

I think I'm gonna get it for my mountain adventure vlogs. Right now I'm always using my Nikon Z7 with Sigma 14-24 and it's SOOO HEAVY to carry on the backpack strap while hiking for many hours uphill. Image quality and cinematic look are quite impressive on this little camera! :)
The upgrade isnt worth it for Osmo Pocket users. I was expecting them to give atleast 1 inch sensor on this, but no, wait for next year :DIm now waiting for Osmo Action 2, as its a long due now. *The combo I need is GoPro 9 and Osmo Action 2*
The main issue is space i guess. They aim for pocketable size while maintaining a decent quality. Maybe they should consider selling a normal version and a "PRO" version with bigger sensor and overall a bit bigger size.
1 inch sensor with built in gimble? It wouldn't be a pocket camera anymore or be called pocket. Nonetheless we are still getting a larger sensor and slightly brighter aperture which will help a good bit. Also the wider fov is appreciated as well as the better sound quality from the mics.
Too lofty a goal but I would have expected DJI to put the same sensor in the Pocket 2 as the Mavic Air 2 same as what they did with Osmo Pocket 1 and Mavic Air 1.
osmo action 2 is next year, fall 2021. New DJI product have 2 years life cycle. Forget the 1in, that will take few years. 1in = $$$ that's why gopro did not do 1in, insta360 can do it since they are the competitor to gopro, it's very expensive! But you buy it separately. Sony did it but they make that 1in sensor so they control cost to an extent but that camera is expensive. hero9 is expensive, image with a 1in sensor, that 599, 699$ camera!
I'm considering adding the pocket 2 to my gear, the gimbal for b roll, a behind the scenes vlogging to keep projects separate, and having a good camera and still have my iPhone to do iPhone stuff, seems like a winner

I still use DJI Osmo pocket earlier version and this one is 🔥🔥🔥 because they finally came up with their wide lens, was using Ulanzi wide lens which does the job but has blur on the corners of the screen. Also loved the case and mic 🙌

Another you tube photographer uses the first one for his b roll all the time. I don't notice much of a pull back in quality of the footage. Fototripper is the the other you tube photographer if you want have an idea.
I do Real Estate photography with a Canon Rebel T7i and I'm considering this as my way to do interior video. Basically in place of a Gimbal for smooth video shots. Would that be a good choice? Then I would use it for my main UA-cam camera for my new UA-cam channel. Looks really cool but not ready to pull the trigger yet.
I obtained 2 C-Stands from a roommate while moving to another place. The screw mount features a perfect screwin for a typical go-pro mount, put the DJ Osmo Pocket on that and swing that around a couple times. BOOM, Cinematic shots

Ordered mine day 1. I am legit blown away with the number of improvements on this vs the first (which I loved but had some minor annoyances). I can't wait to get my hands on this. Plus my wife and I are going away for a little weekend getaway 6 days after the release so better believe this will be coming with us! Man, can't wait!
We use the DJI Pocket (1) on most of our videos as a primary camera. Usually we are outside in unpredictable conditions so its small size is a real benefit. We've also gotten pretty good at framing up our subjects without having to attach a large screen (cell phone) to it! Thanks for doing this test, have been looking at maybe getting the Pocket 2 at some point.
More videos on the DJI Pocket 2 is exactly what I need. I have ordered it (creator bundle). I am just getting into video (72 years old). I see a long learning curve ahead and want to learn as much as I can about how to get good video from the Pocket 2.
-Be honestly, would you like to use it for regular vlogging. It feels like the user has to compromise so many things such as image quality, zoom in zoom out, boker~~. The wireless mic seems useless. I hate gimbals especially when traveling so I see where something like these are grab and go if you need a fluid shot that is run and gun.

Also it focuses... so you can get close stuff sharper, and some background blur. GoPro is fixed focus... close up stuff is always a bit soft.

Yep! You need an adapter which you can buy from DJI or comes in the extended kit you can buy!

Does this have clean hdmi output? Asking for everyone with a cam link
Thanks for the amazing video Peter, it made me pull the trigger on one and I absolutely love it.
We use the DJI Pocket (1) on most of our videos as a primary camera. Usually we are outside in unpredictable conditions so its small size is a real benefit. We've also gotten pretty good at framing up our subjects without having to attach a large screen (cell phone) to it! Thanks for doing this test, have been looking at maybe getting the Pocket 2 at some point.
More videos on the DJI Pocket 2 is exactly what I need. I have ordered it (creator bundle). I am just getting into video (72 years old). I see a long learning curve ahead and want to learn as much as I can about how to get good video from the Pocket 2.

-Be honestly, would you like to use it for regular vlogging. It feels like the user has to compromise so many things such as image quality, zoom in zoom out, boker~~. The wireless mic seems useless. Rode can take all jobs done. I have followed Peter for years. I really like your shares. but I realized that you are making more and more advertising recently. I really want you to come back and share the advantages and disadvantages of the products with your personal prospects, a professional photographer.-

@@yaboy_jose1745 Yep, me too. I have the Pocket 2 and the DJI OM 4 and iphone Xs Max. I'm gonna return the pocket 2. I love it but for me it makes better sense to stick with the phone.
May I ask a question: If you have to pick up a camera for a hiking trip, what would you choose between the DJI Pocket 2 ($350) and the OM-4 Gimbal ($150) working with your own Smart Phone Camera, and briefly explain why, please??

Can you turn the camera around so that you can see the screen while filming what is in front of you as you are walking or is the camera and the screen always facing you?
