As a Singaporean, I realise there is no fixed breakfast item actually. For example, prata can be breakfast, lunch or even supper. Toast and egg, I like to have them as teabreak when I am not that very hungry in between meals. I guess for a food paradise like Singapore, food is available everywhere anytime, so its hard not to find food. 😅
Singaporean breakfast also include : mee siam, mee goreng (chinese & Indian version), murtabak, longtong, Fish ball noodle Bak chor mee Lor mee Chee cheong fan Bak chang Soon kuey, chee kuey Peanut/coconut/red bean pancake Ham chin bang & buttefly dougnut Nasi lemak Prawn noodle Fried noodle/beehoon/kuey teow with fish cake, otah, chicken wings, cabbage or long beans etc. Please note that this is the real Singapore fried beehoon WITHOUT curry powder Just go to any market with food centre like Tiong Bahru market, Ghim Moh market in the morning and you’ll find many good food there. Good food are also found in the following food centre: ABC Brickwork food centre Toa Payoh West market and food centre Pek kio market and food centre Alexandra Village food centre Golden Mile food centre Maxwell Road food centre Amoy Street food centre Chinatown Complex food centre
Hi Irene, the one single square piece 菜頭粿 you're familiar with in HK, is also available and sold in Sg (though admittedly somewhat less common). Technically the correct name for the multiple chopped up small pieces dish (either white 白 or black 黑) that you ate at the hawker center in the video should correctly be called 炒粿 (char kueh), but many people (including in Singapore, including many hawkers themselves) wrongly call it 菜頭粿, which (this name) should be reserved for the single square piece form that you're familiar with in HK.

Got a funny story to share about SG!!! So on my first visit, I was checking out food vendors at some hawker's centre... so after ordering, the lady asked in Mandarin, "吃的嗎???"..... to that I responded "買來不吃可以幹嘛??" - then she lost her patience... spoke in English "I mean I mean.... eat here or take out loh!!!!" Ohhhhhhh okie..... another fun fact about SG is, when you pass by some temporary construction/maintenance sites, you often see TONS of arrows closely sticking to one another all over the walls.... just weird logic... I can see arrows if separated by 10M apart!!!! ^^

Singapore's wanton noodle typically come in very small serving. Probably because hawker centre food is not pricy eg. $3.50 in spite of inflation whereas quantity has shrunk.
Chwee Kueh... yummy! And perhaps nasi lemak too? Those small packs in banana leaves... and potent chilli. My breakfast.... i can eat one bak chor mee or economical noodles.
Hihi u can try out diff prata curry (u can request if they have that type.of curry) Personally like fish curry or mutton curry sauce as they taste heavier then chicken or vege curry *common curry pair up with prata*. For egg type prata i will like to order plaster prata ( sunny side egg with prata) Egg yolk with prata taste good. Cheese prata also not bad
When we were young, my mom would buy 猪肠粉, steamed Yam cake and Png Kuey for us as breakfast. But I hated Png Kuey, so I only ate the other 2. Hahaha! Oh yeah, warm soya bean milk is a must!
You should visit KL when the lockdown ends (hopefully soon). The food in KL is the same name yet different taste completely. I think most Hong Kongers will find food in KL more familiar to their palate. Like the Bak Kut Teh, the Hokkien mee, dim sum, etc is very different compared to Singapore. And most chinese Malaysian in KL speaks cantonese (even the non chinese waiters!) and you will feel right at home.
Whenever I pass by Dunman Food Center, I will eat the Wanton Mee you mentioned and also the braised duck rice there is nice. I will give the wanton mee a higher rating as it is one of my favorite wanton mee stalls. All the ingredients, noodle and chilli I like. Can also ask them to give green pickled chillis and pork lard too will be super delicious to go with it! The prata looks great! Will try it if I pass by that area. Thanks for the nice food review! :)
When I was posted to HK by my company in the 90s every morning I would pop by this 24hr cafe that served these thick hot toast with a slice of butter and I would follow the locals that sprinkle sugar over it follow down with a cup of thick rich tea. Do they still have those in HK now?

In the video clip I saw you eating a big plate noodle . You expressed siok “Singlish” enjoy. BTW, Irene next time when you go to food market, please try to order a plate of “loti plata.” an Indian dish which a lot of people love to eat including myself. There is a saying that if somebody changes his mind they will say he is flipping plata meaning he changing his mind - like flipping plata.

I like my prata with a bit of sugar on the side. Dip the prata in curry, then dip it in a bit of sugar. You can usually ask the shop for sugar. :)

Half boiled eggs are from English morning breakfast. Since Singapore and HK were colony from UK. We still keeping it, but not HK.

1）食生滚粥同埋炒米粉，油炸鬼
2） 佢茶樓食點心，吹水飲茶
3）茶記食早餐A 同早餐 B，有丁面，通粉， 腸仔，肉絲米粉，餐蛋治/腿蛋治， 鹼水粽， 腸粉芝麻醬，再飲杯凍奶茶或者凍檸蜜就perfect！

水粿就係新加坡式的缽仔糕(之前寫錯撥)(雖然同香港的缽仔糕唔同，但個形狀相似)，因爲我屋企講廣東話，我細個時都唔知道呢樣嘢叫水粿。
