- I've always really liked the TTX Intermodal cars and wanted to build my own. Despite the set being very expensive on the second hand market, I was glad to see the parts are all very common / affordable.

"pretty cheap" understatement of the year when it comes to LEGO 😅
Those look really cool, swapping parts out for more available ones makes sense now.
Another lovely haul... I look forward to seeing how these look with everything else...
Spoiler alert, a bit out of scale next to the larger 6x16 containers 😅. But hey I still like them a lot 😁
Nice, love the end result kinda want the locos and the rolling stock my selves now.... 🤭
The more I look into locomotive MOCs the less I like the 60052 locos. Still debating on keeping them together, they just look a bit "toy-like" compared to upcoming projects. I do like the intermodal wagons though, even if they aren't to scale with my other containers
Well, I guess they are focused to be played with. Still I do like the look of them.
Still, it's probably one of my favorite Lego locomotives from an official train set, as the Maersk train was technically a Creator Expert set.
2126 is another set I pieced together as it is not cheap to buy one from bricklink. The orange windows for 10133 are not even that bad it is the yellow train baseplate that is exclusive to that set and various dark green parts that are also more or less exclusive to that set that are far worse.
I've been working on a BNSF locomotive built in the style of the Maersk Train. Using the more recent livery of black and orange to avoid the dark green. I'll also use a DBG train base with a layer of yellow plates above it. It's good enough for me and won't break the bank too bad
The set indeed got launched at the same time as the BNSF loco and they sort of belong together. I did put them together a while back, including the 3rd car mod, in the original colors, but it gets pricey indeed.
I'm definitely going to have to build some BNSF locos at some point
@BatteryPoweredBricks even if it is a cheap skate non color match !! For sure !!
You should totally try to piece together the 10133 BNSF locomotive! There are definitely a lot of cheaper part substitutions available. A newer mold of the orange windows is available, costs a few cents each. And the dark green plates and slopes are easily substituted as well. The dark green 1x2 profile bricks and doors are pricey but they are just greebling that is pretty hidden once you place the railings along the sides. And you can stack 3 dark green wedge plates together to replace the expensive wedge bricks. Only real pain would be the yellow train base… Anyways, I hope you look into it, I’d love to see your take on it.
Actually I may go a slightly different route. I'll have some videos coming soon building the Maersk train in an alternate color. I've recently found many designs that use the Maersk locomotive as a starting point and recolor for other railroads. I may try to make my own mod if I can find BNSF stickers to use but it will be after a few other locomotives I have planned
I weirdly just saw one of these sets pop up in my local classifieds and wowee I can see why you would want to part this together 😅 crazy expensive!
I was raised to be cheap too lol I can often be found scouring the grocery aisles for the cheapest rice known to man
Did I hear something about cheap rice 👀😁
10:55 you should make a layout like that on the printed slope!
The thought had occurred to me 😅
i have a sealed 60052 that i bought last yr haha
Think you will do a guide t
On motorizing the OE coming out soon?
I may get it at some point but I don't think it will be for a while. It's a very big expense. I'm sure there will be tons of guides soon enough
We are not cheap, son. We are FRUGAL!
I often use the term frugal as well, I guess cheap just sounded funnier 😅. Very valuable skill to learn early on
I've looked at the bnsf and the sante fe and I have come to the conclusion I can live without them, those trains have left the station.
I've seen some pretty good builds based on the Maersk engine design. I may try to make my own or mash a few designs together. I have a few other engines coming first though
I am piecing that one together, two locos and 5 wagons I am pretty close to finishing them I still need a few grey doors and about a 100 of the pearl light grey modified bricks and some more common parts
@@desubtilizer One of my channel members (Brick Works) made a video a few months ago of his Santa Fe. Two locos and two B units and a ton of cars. The video also talked about the history as well. I think it was called "Santa Fe all the way"
Hello, I’ve been following your channel for a little bit now, I understand your channel mainly focuses on Lego trains and RC. However I was curious is you where going to do a review of the Lego Cat D11 bulldozer? Also, for Mocs and future Lego systems do you recommend Buwizz for controlling? I personally own a D11 cat and I am looking for a third party controller application besides Lego and was curious about the full range of buwizz.
I tend to go through phases but I'll probably be sticking with trains for quite a while. It's what I'm enjoying and the videos do much better than any other content I've done. I never got the D11 Bulldozer, it was well out of my price range. I've never done any sponsored content so everything is paid for out of pocket. As for Lego RC, I found myself losing interest since I couldn't find a way to have a responsive physical controller. I don't like using a touch screen on a phone and with physical controllers the lag is just too much for it to be fun for me.
If you are a Discord user we do have some folks in there that are doing RC projects and also have or have built the D11 Bulldozer. They may have more insight to add and it's easier to have a discussion there
When I pieced my 10170 together it amazed me how easy it was. I did expect the cars to be a bit bigger. They are definitely smaller than the Maersk rolling stock.
Did you piece 3 sets together for the price of 1 ?
Something like that, I saved a good bit on buffers and wheels to do sets of 3 instead of 2. I did think about modifying them to transport bigger containers 🤔
I really like the video but for me it was posted 10 minutes ago and all the comments are a day old?? any explanation on this?
Thanks! Members of the channel get access to videos early for their support so their comments will often be a day or two older. Believe me if I ever perfect time travel I will make sure to tell everyone 😁
I have my parts on order
The black bogie swivels were expensive
These are a great opportunity to use the yellow bogie plates like I showed in the conclusion. So far the 10183 Crocodile was the only build I felt I needed to use the black ones. That being said I'm not a collector by any means, but I understand it is important to some to build them like the original
@@BatteryPoweredBricks Yep. I kind of had to do a balance between the original design v. price. I dithered a bit but went for the black plates, wished I hadn't - but hey-ho. The magnetic couplers are the newer style. I've gone for the same yellow 1 x 2 x 2 panels with the side re-inforcing as the older style are more expensive.
Try the red ones with the 7mm pin for 7750...
is there any specific reason you use NXT instead of EV3?
I have one EV3 from a goodwill auction. It works after cleaning battery acid. I pretty much stick to NXTs since I have maybe a dozen "working" NXTs (4 or 5 with good screens but the ones with bad screens can be used too). It's just what I'm used to
