Fun fact, I actually used a power functions extension wire to link my 9v motors to a pair of PF motors under my horizon express engines. What I can say from experience, is that in order to do that, you actually need to run the current from the 9v motor through a polarity switch to the PF motor, otherwise the two motors will turn in opposite directions. Unless, of course, you can get the PF motor’s cable over the top of the motor and then into the hole on the other side without having the cord be in the way of the motor pivoting and inserting.
I guess I didn't show what I did with the Red locomotive in this video, I make my own 9v cables so I took the motor apart and gave it a 9v connector on a short cable. It's in my dual train motor video. I have more mods I want to do in the future as well
Thanks! I'm very slow when it comes to reading physical books, I try to read for a few minutes before bed if nothing else. I was kicking myself for not bringing it while waiting for my new tires to be installed on my vehicle last week 😅
Lovely concepts! This will be my next MOC. Thank you for inspiration! A quick question: what are the grey buttons in the black chasses at 16:11? I have been trying to locate that part on BL/BrickSet but no luck. I imagine it is a simple spring-loaded push button but I have not seen that part yet.
I like that it's a little different than all of my other locomotives. I think he did a really good job of a locomotive MOC without being derivative of other locos from sets
@@BatteryPoweredBricks Your thing, is pretty damn good ❤ I built some of the older style point motors with the clutch gear; they work but they're a pain to set up, plus you gotta find clutch gears with the right tension. Also your demo with the mini IR remote is... ❤❤❤
Same problems I had. I tried 3 or 4 designs before Tom Cook's design he made for use with the Brick Automation Project software. The design I use now was heavily based on his and works great! My custom control panels help as well, so much fun!
Hey battery powered bricks I think it would be awesome if you made your own set and use all of you extensive knowledge of peoples set to make your own one I think It would be an awesome video and would be a great way to show us how you would design your dream train/set. Anyways have a wonderful day I love your videos they have inspired me to finally start building trains sets
I wouldn't call my knowledge extensive 😅, there are things I'm good at and things I am not. I'm working my way up to creating MOCs, I've never been a super creative person. Most of my builds are mods of official sets or of other peoples designs. Glad you've enjoyed the videos!
Opinions seems to be mixed on them, some think they are better for pieces that are square. I will miss getting the cups to keep around for sorting if they ever make the change here
@@ExieNguyen They have the boxes, but are still using the cups until they run out of them. Last time I was there early Dec, I got 2 small for the price of a large. I asked about the boxes when I was there.
I'm really not much of a MOC builder. Most of the stuff I build is modified from others builds. Either way I really don't take requests for what I build
I really don't buy much there to be honest, 90% of the time it's just a PAB cup or two 😅. There have been times I've bought sets but nothing has really jumped out at me lately. The recent price hike didn't help either 🙄

I really need to order Holgers book! He is definitely an inspiration to the Lego train community.
A 9V Octan Locomotive MOC just feels like peak BatteryPoweredBricks.
Great video and great looking train!
I know right? When I saw this thing on Reddit I knew I had to build it 😁
Awesome book, also have it :-) Have built most of them in studio :-)
Honestly that's a great idea! I should build them as well. It took me so long to give digital building a try and now it's a huge part of my workflow.
Love your channel. That book by Holger is my go-to book for anything about Lego trains. I have the Kindle version.

Looks lovely, great stuff!
11:28 that "CHUNK" sounds to meaty, and i love it.
Feels very train,,,,

Part # x1167cx1 It's the 4.5 touch sensor from the 80's
@@BatteryPoweredBricks Great, thank you!
12:44 looks like a train octan rented for use c:
The Octan loco looks pretty cool.

Those points motors look amazing and so easy to operate!
Yep, it's kind of my thing 😅

@@BatteryPoweredBricks yeah that's what I'm saying I understand what you do I'm saying you should bring all that together in a dream locomotive
Can you post your motorized switch design?
It's on my Rebrickable

In Australia PickABrick has gone to cardboard boxes not plastic cups :(
Opinions seems to be mixed on them, some think they are better for pieces that are square. I will miss getting the cups to keep around for sorting if they ever make the change here
When did that happen? I went to a Lego store in Melbourne Central in late November and they were still using the plastic cups

@@ExieNguyen The ones in Sydney have gone for it
Hi, you should do a "canadian go train" moc

The Lego store you go to better be earning some money since you get that much from there😂😂

Yeah okay
