Unsecured loans normally max out at $5,000 to $10,000 which is more than likely the type of loan she was applying for. She was asking for an unsecured loan of $60,000 which is above all banking limits for unsecured loans at all banks. My wife & I were denied a loan and the institution sat us down and explained our deficiencies. Disappointed but not defeated, we worked on our issues for just about a year before we reapplied for another even bigger loan with the same institution. Yes, we got the loan! Here in South Africa we have the NCA, National Credit Act. It’s like a scorecard on what loans , credit cards etc can be granted to an individual based on affordability. Previously banks use to grant loans without checking if individuals could afford the mortgage (home loans), credit cards etc. This Protects the consumer and financial institution

I was recently denied a loan and I have size 11 feet? Obviously banks are prejudice against people with slightly bigger than average feet……shocking world we live in.

As the owner of three properties I would imagine she could have gotten a secured loan.
From what she said "I have not got any debt, I have three properties ..." would actually reduce her Credit Rating. I am White, I have no debts and I have Zero Credit Rating, because I have no credit history."
An insured bank MUST provide a reason for a rejection by statute. What a poor, poor victim.
A "personal" loan means UNSECURED. I was just turned down for a ten thousand dollar line of credit with an 800+ credit score and 35 year history with the CU. I'm white. They just said no.

Here in South Africa we have the NCA, National Credit Act. It’s like a scorecard on what loans , credit cards etc can be granted to an individual based on affordability. Previously banks use to grant loans without checking if individuals could afford the mortgage (home loans), credit cards etc. This Protects the consumer and financial institution

I’m asking of course was she employed at the time with sufficient income. She said she had two or three properties, which was two or three? Where are those properties mortgaged to the hilt? Has she declared bankruptcy in the past. On the other properties is there a co-signer or other individual on the property deeds? Lots of questions but few answers.
A personal loan means there is no collateral attached. These are some of the most difficult loans to get because collecting is close to impossible. Having been in finance since 1982, as soon as she said personal loan, I knew what the problem was.
i highly doubt a bank wont give you the reasoning behind their denial, and i also highly doubt she not only already paid her students loans but she has "two or three properties"? what are those properties? how much does she earn? does she even have a job?

The Lady should of Demanded a REASON!! She has the Right. Go to the Credit Union, talk to the Mayor, the Bank President, raise polite Hell!! I do not think she Fought Hard Enough! If what she said was in line with the Truth, then she Deserved the Loan!!

I would be embarrassed to make that claim without any evidence. She's intentionally going out of her way to make herself a victim. The burden of proof is on her, but her counter argument to that is "it could be racism" as if that means anything. Victimhood has become currency and weak people are latching onto it to explain away their failures.

I call BS. Every loan or credit card application of mine that got denied was follwed up by a snail mail a week later detailing the reasons for the denial.
I was sent to prison just cause I'm white, I was in debt cause I'm white, a guy attacked me because I'm white! No actually, I went to prison because I was part of organized crime (a long time ago) because I was violent and used to harm other members of organized crime. No actually I was in debt, because I did not manage my finances correctly. No actually, I was attacked by a guy, trying to defend himself, against my verbal and physical onslaught! Being accountable, is a very mature thing to do! Until then you will not be happy in life, or have success; as excuses for failure, are your badge of victimhood honour!

My friend is as white as can be, with excellent credit, and was told she couldn't get a loan, because she didn't owe anyone. It used to be that's when you could get a loan. Now it seems, you still have to be paying something in order to get a loan. Go figure.
