I know a lot of people are doing the comparison to Stardew Valley and Rune Factory. Just remember... Stardew Valley was a game inspired by the original Marvelous developed Harvest Moon series. The current Harvest Moon series is made by Natsume, who used to localize the original Harvest Moon series. Localization is more so a language/culture adjustment than anything coding related, so Natsume clearly did not take any time of proper notes from Marvelous...and it shows in their current games. One World is a MAJOR step up from Light of Hope but it is still trash. Rune Factory is a farming + combat rpg series also made by Marvelous. And I know people like to compare story of seasons to that, but I thinks it’s unfair based on the concepts. Yes, they both include farming but RF combat and story aspects makes it a completely different game series. Finally, I am disappointed in Natsume. Because they are behind one of my favorite rpg series ever...Disgaea. Those games are soooo good. So, how could the company behind those good games make such trash HM games?
Small correction. Rune Factory was developed by Neverland Inc, and thier bankruptcy is why the gap between RF 4 and 5 is almost 10 years. Marvalous gathered the old Neverland team (including RF director Yoshifumi Hashimoto) to form a new sub studio called Hakama, which is developing RF5. Also Hakama shows up in the opening credits for the Switch version of Rune Factory 4, as they did that too. Despite being under the Marvalous banner, RF was never made by them. And despite the different names, RF5 is by the same team as every RF game.

This is after buying the hammer and the axe. Its very easy to get your money up. 2: while I might just be misunderstanding what you meant, but doesnt every harvest moon game need you to use lots of money to get married? I know in more friends of mineral town you need to upgrade your house all the way, but everything else on the shopping channel till you can buy the bed, and then buy the blue feather. Like... That's runefactory. 4: getting the seeds is just part of the daily routine tbh. 5: farms have.... always been like this. Besides being able to move your house around. Like I dont remember being able to do much to the actual farm it self in like animal parade besides getting more space. And 6: I'm bisexual so maybe my opinion on this doesnt matter, but I dont think every game, even a life farming sim, needs to always have same sex marriage options. Theres my takes. I'm sorry if I misunderstood your points.
@@BalooDumptruck I'm not saying that. Just that like... just because a game doesnt have it, it doesnt instantly make it bad, nor is it an insult to the LGBT community, nor does every game need it. But take it as you will. I will not fault you how ever you see it, as we both have our own views.

@@MelodyCrystel yeah as far as I'm concerned, Rune Factory blew SOS and original HM out of the water for me LOL It's got fighting that extends to every area outside of town and your farm, multiple dungeons and boss fights, you can add townsppl to your party for fighting or even just to follow you everywhere, it's got overarching plot, the npcs are exploding with dialogue, esp in RF4, there's extensive crafting, a bonkers leveling system for literally any action, including sleeping, eating, bathing, and throwing objects Say sayonara to hearing the same dialogue every freaking day. 0 offense to Chucklefish, he is just emulating the old HMs and is a one man dev team to be reckoned with.

I can see needing to complete the main story being a downer. But besides that.... eh
3:.... harvest moon has never had combat so idk why you're bringing that up.
Look, a bisexual that doesn't want LGT's to have an option
@@BalooDumptruck I'm not saying that. Just that like... just because a game doesnt have it, it doesnt instantly make it bad, nor is it an insult to the LGBT community, nor does every game need it.
But take it as you will. I will not fault you how ever you see it, as we both have our own views.
Nintendo switch is a console where you can play triple a games like witcher and botw, yet the best that natsume can give is a game like this? They arent even maximizing the potential of the console
Even though its not a Harvest Moon game, My time at Portia is one of my favorites.
Damn, this is really sad, i like the 3d character design for the very least
I will have to say i disagree with your review, One World is an improvement from Light of Hope. The game is designed to be more a challenge than the easier to get threw farming sim like SOS. I have played every game in both HM and SOS series before and after the split. While this game is not at good as the games from the SOS series and it is an improvement on the HM series since the split.
didnt read any reviews before buying it and I hate it so much lmao and Nintendo doesn't do refunds. Out 50 bucks now. This game is absolute garbage
No darker skin tones.wow.I’m glad you pointed it out before I bought it
Gabrielle has such a cute design
why is she trapped in a game like this!?
After I was burned by Lost Valley and Skytree, I was done with Harvest Moon. Story of Seasons is still my favorite with Stardew Valley being I would argue the perfect farming/RPG Sim.
Glad to see the removal of anal marriage. There is no place in this wholesome game for degeneracy.
This is so sad for a fan of the original to see how much the name of this special game has been dragged through the mud
Thank God the og team still makes games.
Thanks for this. I was juggling between rune factory and this one. I loved Harvest moon since GameCube. But this seems whack.
Thank you so much! I almost made a big financial boo boo. 😜
I tried out HM and I couldn't get into it. I instead bought a game called Littlewood for a fraction of the price and loved it.
I just watched a magical melody video for some nostalgia before watching this. And. What the hell??! It’s TOO different. I loved the simple, cute graphics. Get it out of here
Natsume really miss marvelous so much
Since y'all did this you gun review Rune Factory 5 when that comes out?
Though that series is one where it's hard to give a fair review without playing it quite a while, due to the large amount of playstyle diversity and flexible means of achieving different and similar things
I was thinking of getting the switch for the game but it's not worth it. I will rock with my old Nintendo 3ds harvest moon a new begging. At least the graphics is better then this. So glad I didn't wast any money on this... if you like it good for you honestly.
i think they did this on purpose so they can stop making harvest moon games.
He’s absolutely right but I still like the game.
Me too
He had a lot wrong though. Like with money being hard to get. Thats just straight up factually wrong.
And Harvest Moon fans, still buy this because of the Name...
Since that they said that game is bad , then why would they jus insult their own work..???
And I thought "a Light of Hope" was bad....this is even worse🤣
It's better than *Animal Crossing: New Unfinished Horizons That Has Less Content Than Animal Crossing Games Released In The Series 15 Years Ago...* so that's something.
Just when I thought it wasn't possible for a game to be as bad/worse than BOTW.
where did the animal crossing vid go? disappeared like halfway thru watching it...
After stardew valley...i cant move on to any same type game 😂😂
They sure set the bar
:puts Rune Factory onto the desk:
Never played any of these?
@@MelodyCrystel yeah as far as I'm concerned, Rune Factory blew SOS and original HM out of the water for me LOL
It's got fighting that extends to every area outside of town and your farm, multiple dungeons and boss fights, you can add townsppl to your party for fighting or even just to follow you everywhere, it's got overarching plot, the npcs are exploding with dialogue, esp in RF4, there's extensive crafting, a bonkers leveling system for literally any action, including sleeping, eating, bathing, and throwing objects
Say sayonara to hearing the same dialogue every freaking day. 0 offense to Chucklefish, he is just emulating the old HMs and is a one man dev team to be reckoned with.
I mean the title of the game isn't wrong, it sure is a world. Not a good one, but it is a world
This game looks so 2004.
At least it doesn't look like an N64 game. They had a low budget, you have to cut them some slack. At least it looks passable. It certainly looks better than Light of Hope at least.
Ok so what is the best farming game out there? Harvest Moon 64 was my last experience in the series. The last two switch Harvest Moons seem not so good. I hear Stardew Valley is the bees knees. Is Story of Seasons good? How would y’all rank them to purchase first?
Story of Seasons is the same developers as what you know as Harvest Moon 64. What you see now as Harvest Moon is the same in name only, you should just play Story of Seasons instead
Farming games have no right being this ugly and primitive after Spiritfarer and Sakuna. Harvest Moon/story of seasons look and sound like low effort-mobile games. Incredible
When Farmville is deeper and more intuitive than your farming sim, please let the franchise die.
I just wished we could have Harvest Moon from PSP :/. I liked the 3d on that game
I can't wait for rune factory 5!
And twewy ;)
Since 2013 when the actual Harvest Moon games started being dubbed as Story of Seasons, all these fake Harvest Moon games have been increasingly abysmal.
iv'e never heard of a game downgrade so much when its supposed to get better ....
Even if it were a perfect game, the publisher straight up stole the IP, and I can't support that.
You want a good farming game? Buy Stardew Valley...
The only thing that i dont love of story of seasons are the graphics, but Ill believe you and Ill not play this game even if its free on Ps Plus
Man, they really don't know how to make Harvest Moon good anymore.
If you want to play a good modern harvest moon game, just play stardew valley
