I get it. I mean you would just assume Magnus has it all calculated if he presents you with an obvious exchange fest, so you look for a complication in the line to throw him off. But of course you have to be right, and if the move you make is just losing then its losing.
That’s what can be frustrating about watching these two very, very top-level players lol. They’re human like the rest of us and occasionally make stupid mistakes but it can be impossible to tell when that happens. Sometimes I’ll sit there wondering if one of their moves was as dumb as it looks or if I’m just a moron who’s incapable of recognizing something genuinely brilliant.
It's interesting how I can always guess the correct moves but don't see the followups at all. Like instinctively, I know the correct moves but I can't see the ideas at all. Even in my own games, I see the engine moves but don't play them cause I can't see the ideas. Once I won a game playing a move I had no idea was winning cause opponent resigned. I was 1500 rated at the time. Now I'm 1700-1800
LOVE IT! Everytime magnus spanks that lil b hikky the cry baby my whole day becomes just a little better! Not to mention Carlsen showing that he was just bored and playing around with the 2600 kids last week

Haha definitely thought the chime at 4:24 was on my phone/computer!
Squeezy. Grandmasterly. This guy is a true sports commentator. I always enjoy Hikaru and Magnus games. You can tell they play each other a lot.
Thanks haha!
"A great idea that doesn't quite work tactically" is Hikaru's MO
Yeah the games between those two are insanely enjoyable to watch
Very instructive thanks James ..
no worries glad you enjoyed! Thanks for watching
"Evicting the queen." I like that one.
Mistakes and blunders are natural phenomena of human brain in chess.
Yeah I'll remenber that one for next time I'm playing a circa 500 elo 3min blitz 😆
😂
Reminds me of the Bg6 game between the same two players.
"Don't assume the ending"
Ending: Magnus [almost] always wins...
Many Thanks for making this instructive video.

Best freaking chess channel on UA-cam
Thanks as always John!
Thank you, watching these great games you bring, simple and brilliant makes me feel like an idiot....
No worries thanks for watching and yeah I think Magnus and Hikaru have that affect on all of us!
Ba6 was a gimmicky move in a cramped position. The pawn sacrifice by white looks like a better idea, sound positionally.
that's a rad sweater!
pawn sacrifice reminiscent of Penrose-Tal, which the first player won.
Oh cool thanks for pointing out that game
It's strange, they play good moves that I wouldn't play, and then they play bad moves that look terrible to my eyes.

@fahimhoq3166no matter the format that last resigning move was idiotic to miss, especially when you are doing the threatening
@@kaushalsuvarna5156It's a complex tactic and they're playing fast. Not hard to miss at all
This was a really good game.
That's what I would call a fair and square win. The title is a bit clickbaity.
Thanks and yeah I guess I am a little sensationalist at times

Yeah true and nice that’s v good progress
at 6:53 what is wrong with Bd6?
fxe4
I saw both of those strong moves, showing that a 120 ECF can beat Hikaru! ;)
Same 🎉
Done with playing chess
Couldn't happen to a nicer guy lol.
Cool game. Don't know why there are so many Hikaru haters here but ok

This guy's cheesy captions needs to stop
8:00 Hikaru felt like a total noob. Epic fail haha
