These games simply took my breath AWAY. Beyond stunning. The other giants just need to form an orderly queue. GOAT .. no hyperbole whatsoever. Simply the truth.
how ironic that White's king ended up being in a worse position than Magnus' King - end game brilliance
End-game grind from the end-game GOAT.
Great game, amazing commentary. I like that you don't get lost in variations. Best new chess channel for sure.
Thanks very much glad you enjoyed
This is not the first time Magnus has done an interesting queen for ~9 points of material trade, he's so amazingly expert at harmonizing the pieces afterward and making it impossible for the opponent to do anything about it. Massive respect to Jeffrey Xiong.
Great game, and awesome commentary!
Thanks a lot!
By far the best chess commentary on UA-cam, what a great game as well!
thanks very much!
Great video maybe the best yet ... Thanks for the content!
Thanks very much!
Great video mate! Just a little tip you might want to consider - as you are in a small space for your recordings, it is quite a reverberant space - with lots of echos. If you stick up some acoustic panels on the walls your voice will come out much more soothing :). It doesn't need to be an expensive operation, they can be DIY'ed quite cheaply. When I first setup my space I had the same challenges. Hope this helps :)
Thanks a lot it does! Yeah the blue yeti mic/space is doing my head in like I can’t talk too loud etc. appreciate the tip cheers I’ll look at that asap
Great game. Full of suspense.
Wow!!! What a tense battle. Amazing chess.
Getting advantage , a Queen and playing brilliant attacking chess and suddenly magnus' pieces magically present in such harmony . What a a structure. The pawn f6 or h6 that cut off the Queen from the game !!! Wow
lol the new snow plow inset was appreciated.
Wow Magnus just knows the Board so well and he’s always making Great Moves so talented he does it better than any other player outmaneuvering his opponent Great game well deserved victory by Magnus against a tough opponent Thanks for the Game James Enjoy your day
liking the extra graphics added for effect
Thanks glad to hear
Definitely some epic chess right there. Thanks man great coverage.
Thanks a lot
8:22 --The mighty King at d4 with that Infiniti Gauntlet, "I am inevitable."
Haha yeah!
Incredible indeed, just wow
it's an honour watching such an incredible gameplay. Nice commentary. I'm not a native English speaker and hence now and then I'd appreciate an slower pace.
Thanks a lot and I’ll try my best sorry!
Very engaging and beginner-friendly commentary!
Thanks a lot glad you enjoyed! Cheers for watching
Epic turning into one of the best chess sites on YT!
thanks very much
That is pure magic.
WOW!!! I'm just sitting here in awe...😲
I'm not trying to be a jerk (because I really do appreciate the videos you record for us), but nothing is more fun than watching Kasparov blunder. Magnus had no business winning that game. Like.. at all. Jiang Zemin queened a pawn like 10 moves before Magnus and it didn't even matter because Magnus stirred up his hodgepodge of comparably stupid pieces and somehow spun up a queen. Unreal.
Yeah and I messed up what I was gonna say haha meant to say almost as good as garry blundering
Your understanding of chess is very good, but your understanding of time in chess isn't. The thing is, Magnus has always been one of the greatest player alongside Hikaru in time scrambles, so while you talk about this game, I particular you shall consider how the two players were very low in time, yet somehow able to find most of the best moves, so I don't know am I missing here? Like seriously 🙄
@@Philiopantheon82 the main thing you’re missing is one of the oldest comedy devices known to civilization: pretending to be stupid. See Ali G for a prominent example of this, although half the Monty Python sketches fit too. It’s been around since (at least) the ancient Greeks. You typically need an expert understanding of something to come up with a comment as intentionally dumb as mine. In short, the main thing you’re missing is the fact that you’re replying to a joke.
You need to study more chest and not chess.
@@JohnSmith-un9jm do you even lift bro?
Every video is about Mangus, Hikaru or chess drama lately.
Yeah I'm running with the trends pretty hard at the moment haha
@@epicchess2021 don’t get me wrong. I’m enjoying the videos but there is a lot of other great stuff to talk about as well. Keep up the good work.
Im a big fan, and yeah. Id love for you to cover the best 3 games by Fischer!❤
What a game! Very enjoyable 😊
Now this here is what I call a good chess commentary 🥳……..fast wit and straight to the point.
Thanks very much glad you enjoyed!
Sick endgame.
11:08. "Queen D1 check. Has Magnus just blundered?". Meanwhile the bar is still showing Magnus winning.
HAHAHA!
Great game. Kudos to Magnus.
And to Jeffrey!
@@SurfinScientist Sure
I appreciate watching, and learning, without being made to feel like a complete idiot.
I'm convinced Magnus knows chess better than I do!
What a game... what a game...
The black Mustang defence.... Ha hahahahaaaa
Crazy game!
5:52 blud said en passant☠️
If Qa5 instead of Qa3 at 10:40 -- Jeffery forks the rook and knight. If Magnus saves the rook, the knight is gone with check unless he defends with Ra2 and then Jeffery goes Qa3 and he loses the rook anyway.
Why were there inset videos of snow being cleared from roads? It looked like advertising but I couldn't see what for.
Oh was a reference to the pawn plowing down the board haha, not an ad
@@epicchess2021Okay, credit. I was just kind of confused. Love your videos, keep it up!
wow amazing game ! Thanks for the explanations i got only 20% of it, but that was enough to make it worthwile. It's incredible how Magnus is able to change the odd bar to put him on top.
Thanks a lot glad you enjoyed! Cheers for watching
Great commentary.
Thanks very much cheers for watching
Denzel is very calculated…the support is deal!
can somebody explain 13:00 why queen did not capture the knight ? and check again
Because the pawn just captures the Queen and its game over?
Fun fact
Magnus played the tournament on his mobile phone while petting his dog
haha just find that out, cool
Magnus is a pure monster. That was a beautiful endgame
Watching these games before my morning coffee, and already I am getting tired.
haha ah man yeah either my boring voice or complexity hurts the head lol, thanks for watching anyway!
Here Magnus is put against the ropes but shows why he is the champ!
Tremendous commentary , very exciting and i don't play chess!
Thanks a lot! That's cool to hear then that wasn't completely boring to a non chess player. Cheers for watching
@@epicchess2021 with your commentary style, I think it would be entertaining if you narrated how the socks rotated in the washing machine, LOL
ok not a regular chess player but at 2:42, Magnus move Knight to A5. Why doesn't the white player move the Queen to E7 for checkmate...what am I missing?
I forget details sorry
In this era, king have to get work hard.
My favourite answer to Nf3 :))
New fan here!
F3 wouldn't be en passant btw but great video ❤
Thanks a lot!
I bite my half nails away mate😲
one of the best games I've ever watched!
awesome glad you enjoyed thanks for watching!
Love your videos but could you do more resignation explanation please?
thanks a lot and noted! I don't like to linger ages and bore ppl but will defo bear in mind
100% not boring! You're doing a great job.
Carlsen got better wifi then the bead man..
10:00 magnus too strong 💪
Holy yoyo!
Humans racing against each other sometimes miss the advantage a rocket car would give them
Indeed forget the engine Magnus creates chances all the time. Thanks James.
Yes the commentary is more interesting than the game. Should have the champion of commentaries games.
haha thanks very much
i despise this bullet computer play goal - bullet era combo, but whjat can you do when everyone goes like a horse with blinders on in one direction, that is NOT ONLY in chess phenomenon
Magnus has the Elon Chip why doesn't know body get it
Hmmm. Bet Magnus was sweating on this game though. Pretty close to losing
meanwhile, irl magnus was just playing on his phone louging next to his doge.
@@HunterBelkiran What's "louging"? What's "doge"?
louNging next to his DOG@@ChocolateMilk..
Don't computer chess programs play risky moves ?
Yeah sometimes
Interesting 😮
❤
How long before Kramnik accuses him of cheating?
Who are you? How in the world have I ended up here...
I'm a former world champion turned content creator :)
@@epicchess2021 A former world champion in synchronized swimming? Anyway, thanks for sharing.
Carlsen, Carlsen, is give 1 Million other Chess Players too....
Jeffery is so strong
Yeah this game surprised me just how good he is
Magnus, history wii judge him as the best for sure. 👍👍
God knows how Carlsen does it.
yes, it's very *interesting*
Interesting
'...ever seen before.' Before what? Before Cheerios? Before the dawn of time? Ever seen! Period!
Need to work on my English lol
wow
Get yourself a good mic, save yourself (and us) screaming
Yeah been on my mind a while, I use a blue yeti which I thought was decent enough but I think I must have the settings wrong
godcyour commentry gra
Freetes the fook on man.
👍
merci!
Wowwwww
The game with Shuvalova was better than this one.
Not for me personally, cool attack but a pretty weak player relatively speaking
Haven't watched the video yet, but yes please!
Interesting 🤔
It is like nothing we have seen before because chess is almost as fun as watching grass grow. So we have not been watching and therefore seeing. :)
😂😂
He is the son of Zeus!
I wonder what the self-appointed Chief of the Chess Police, Kramnik, has to say about this?
lol that title made me laugh 😆
Who's he?
They were both cheating?
Huge battle for first place? Carlsen won by 1,5 points!!!
Yes I get what you mean but imagine he lost, now he has one point less and his rival one point more and the battle for first in the final round is transformed, so this game was defo a big one in the battle for first!
it wouldnt actually be en passant there...🙂
If I understand the video correctly, White lost on time. See 13:30.
Not sure, there is sudden jump from 2 something to zero, so maybe it is just a way to mark resignation.
Maybe not sure but was dead lost on board also , I think probably was time yeah
So I know Hikkie is obviously the king of Titled Tuesdays, but Magnus's TT win rate must be pretty darn good, considering how many Titled Tuesdays he doesn't play in. Someone should really check that; would love to see this stat for both him and Hikaru
Two Serbian flags 🇷🇸 at the top of the list 💪🔥
Game 6 vs nepo anybody?
Yeah I’ll have to revisit one day!
not really powerful when he had his chance! he had to listen more to engines after match
Epic Chess... I've never seen someone kiss as much as you in my life!
😂 just giving the ppl want they want tbh! When I cover other players the video tank hard
NOT True. Bobby Fischer was an absolute Juggernaut from 1970- 72. He beat Petrosian 3-1 (+2 =2) in USSR vs Rest of the World match in Belgrade. He won the unofficial World Blitz Ch in Herceg Novi w/19-3, 4.5 pts ahead of Tal! He won Rovinj-Zagreb 1970 w/13-4 score, 2pt ahead of field! He won Buenos Aires w/15-2, 3 5 pts ahead of field! He played in Seigen Olympiad, scoring 10-3 (+8,-1,=4 losng to World Champion Spassky). Then he won Palma de Majorca Interzonal w/18.5-4.5, 3.5 pts ahead of field!! In 1971 Candidates matches Fischer 'steamrolled' Taimanov and Larsen 6-0 and 6-0 and Petrosian 6.5-2.5 !! We all know what happened in 1972.
Buenos Aires 1970 was 3.5 pts ahead of field.
True but I believe the ideas that modern players now show are like nothing ever, at times, but then they stand on the shoulder of greats, each generation learning from the previous. But fully respect and agree with your comment that Bobby is the GOAT of his era, however Magnus now eclipses him for me personally, Garry third, problem with Bobby is he didn't cement his legacy by being World Champ for decade+ like he could have been
What's wonderful about your content is it entirely focuses on the game of chess and I'm not saying you don't have a wonderful personality but these videos are easy to watch while you're not trying to be a 'UA-cam Personality'. Its easy, and non-polarizing. I know it sounds weird, but so many content creators want a following if that makes sense.
Anyways, great video, thank you for the content!
yeah igu for sure, can get a bit egotistical, I'll keep that in mind thanks a lot
Game of the year contender truly Magnusesque.
Hahahahahaha! Garry Kasparov blunder!!
*I wish I could just watch the game without the commentary.*
There are plenty of chess channels that have just video of games. You know what tournament is and who played whom, so just look for it.
There should be a leage of pot smokers-and chess- im good and bad i hate - love chess
Before you run out of superlatives to describe Carlsen's games, let me suggest a few more: Stockfishesque, mind blowing, crazy, AI-like, superhuman, rule-breaking, genius on steroid, history in the making performance, jaw-dropping moves, extraterrestrial chess. I invite other viewers to add more!
Haha awesome thanks a lot, I use thesaurus a lot as well lol
outlandish sorcery
Abracadabrantesque and ineffable can be used at will with Carlsen.
