I got my Acclaim yesterday, after thinking about it for several months. Your tutorials are very clear and helpful - looking forward to using it more easily because of your videos. Thanks!!
Thanks again for great, easily understandable instructions. No matter how experienced we may be with various sewing machines (and former overlockers - or as you Americans call them 'sergers') whenever I buy a new machine, as with a different car, everything is not the same; and how often are the included instructions helpful? So thanks again for taking the time to post these videos. I'm looking forward to using my Acclaim far more than I thought I would. After viewing lots of UA-cams including yours, I realise how incredibly versatile it is. It really does seem to be both overlocker and sewing machine in one! Exciting times ahead. Important negative though: I was disgusted to receive from Baby Lock a flimsy, cheap, ill-fitting plastic - so-called 'cover' - for my Acclaim which was SO ill fitting it didn't even stretch to the bottom of the machine and the gap for the handle was in the wrong place. At most It would have cost them about 10p so how unethical of them bearing in mind how expensive this machine is! Also, unlike any organisation I've ever registered any product with to get FOC extended warranty, Baby Lock (UK? or elsewhere?) insist on you providing a lot of really personal info, otherwise no extended warranty. I feel that whilst this may not actually breach GDPR it sails close to doing so. When I contacted the UK Baby Lock rep about my concerns, I was disgusted with his cold, corporate, non customer focused response - which in no way acknowledged my genuine concerns, nor my valid point about the disgustingly poor quality/inadequate fit of the flimsy thin plastic cover provided with my new Acclaim. He said the company expects purchasers of Baby Lock machines to make their own covers ??? Also in connection with the personal info they demand so we can register for the extra 2 years warranty, he said "We think this a small ask for something that is completely free." Shame on him and shame on Baby Lock. Clearly that needs to be sorted so it does not impact badly on what it appears to be a great machine. Also that it doesn't create problems for distributors who are more ethical than Baby Lock appear to be, based on my personal experience.
Thank you so much, you cover all the steps and reassurance. Please can you do a tutorial on starting and finishing a seam on the Baby Lock, just received my first Serger at 63yrs and rearing to GO. ❤️
Hi Mandy! I hope you LOVE your machine as much as I do. YES, I will do a video for you on starting and finishing a seam. Thank you so much for letting me know what would be helpful.
Yes! You use regular sewing machine needles on this serger. As as you would for a regular machine, use ball point needles for knits, larger gage needles for thicker fabric, etc.
You said in another video that you need to use a different thread type for the wave stitch than the normal serger thread. What type of thread do you recommend ?
I see the acclaim is very robust and nice i went to the sewing shop to look and I was surprised they didn’t make the Alcolade the type of build the Alcolade is basically the same as my evolution with a higher foot ? I’m guessing they will probably make the next model of 8thread serger the same look as the acclaim
Absolutely. I will prepare lessons of the use of all of the different feet I have for the Babylock serger. Thank you so much for suggesting it and letting me know what will be useful. I really appreciate it Ineke! Stay well~
Yes! I know it's been awhile since you made this comment but YES, I made a T-shirt quilt for my husband's man cave and it worked amazing. Super clean, neat joins.
I would like to see threading the Wave stitch and how to use the wave stitch for binding quilts.

Thanks for the tutorial. Wonder if the sewing machine needles would fit the serger?
